Root rot causes wilting of foliage.

This is a common problem for house plants. It can be caused by overly wet, waterlogged growth medium.

Here, the inner pot drained, but the outer pot retained the drained water, allowing the roots to sit in water for lengthy periods to result in anaerobic conditions and rot.
