Quick Curl Barbie and her outfit are gifts from my friend, Elaine. :)
I found the Hip 2 Be Square Barbie on Ebay. There are also green, pink and purple, and blue versions that are on my wishlist. Today was the first day I had this lovely lady out of the box! :)
Tiny stereo by Janica - Retro Mama69 has one, and when I saw it, I just had to see if I could find one, too. Thanks, Retro Mama69. :)
I did the coffee table, pillows, and dividers.
The Mid-Century Modern interior of the hotel where we had lunch in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia, stands out among the many amazing sights in that country.
I was especially smitten by the room dividers and the artwork incorporated into them.
The hotel dates to 1964.

Students can be split into separate working groups in this one space. Relaxed but productive sessions are aided by full length moveable writeable walls, and close-at-hand technology such as video streaming equipment, CCTV cameras, data projectors, webcams, and 360 controllable LED lights. Flexible interlocking rubber tile floor covering and beanbags add to the comfort of users. Learning through peer-to-peer conversation and group work can play an important role in the overall student learning experience and be an important addition to formal lectures and independent study.
Awesome teak tambour door opens to reaveal stellar interior space, along with a removable and adjustable shelf. Hello? No.... Hell yes!
Gunlocke DONE ROCK! Gunlocke has various mid century incarnations....this design is the most striking of that group. Wicked.
From our new Quatrefoil Collection of Redi-Screens, the "Notre Dame" offers a sleek and modern interpretation of the gothic architectural style carved into wood panels encased in solid hardwood frames.

Here at id-iom we’re hardly prudes but we sometimes think that modern life lacks a bit of mystery and elegance. And what says mystery and elegance better than a modesty screen? So when we were asked if we could give a slightly tired looking modesty screen a Christmas makeover, Hugo got so excited he went and put his Christmas jumper on straight away. The game was afoot...
We eventually settled on ‘I’m only here for the ho’s’ featuring some bold ‘HO’s and Christmas colours. 1990 film Pretty Woman was my inspiration. I just wonder what we’re going to be asked to paint next.
Cheers

The Nara TV table gives an edgy storage solution while creating independent living spaces. perfect for lofty areas in need of separations and for smaller spaces looking for that special minimalistic character. The modern contemporary lines of the Nara are also found on its TV stand/ bench version. The front features 2 drawers (4 as a room divider) and the back is very well finish. You can't see the fittings making it a prime solution to divide spaces.
Celeste Poston's unbelievable home features the "Morocco" Redi-Screens, new from CrestviewDoors.com!

An interesting room divider in a restaurant, created from metal trellis and diamond shapes and filled with empty bottles. Loved the way the light filtered through these green bottles!
Thank you for your visit, your comments are always much appreciated.
Wishing you all a happy day! Cheers! :-)
Debbie traded me these amazing dolls that have been on my wish list for ages! They were perfect for the photos for my Etsy listing. Thanks Debbie!
The planter/water feature is a piece I made for a mid century modern diorama that I hope to finish in this decade. ;)
The sofa and chairs belonged to my older sister. They were included with a three room Barbie house made for her in 1950's. I added the legs, but otherwise, they are just as they were all those years ago. :)
The chairs don't have backs, though, and I obviously don't have that fabric, so I'm going to have to get creative with them unless I only place them with the backs to the wall. Hmmm...

This is the only example of secular mid-century design I came across on my visit to Ethiopia.
This is the back of the curtain, looking from the inside of the study out to the lounge room. I backed it with Trellis Rose and Amy Butler's Nigella Brick Wood Fern

***MAJOR UPDATE***After almost 100 emails from all over the country from Palm Springs to North Carolina inquiring about this chair, all from one simple pic earlier in my stream with THIS chair semi hidden in the background (I would get 2-5 a week, every week for months), I have finally decided to pass this beauty along to a couple that simply HAD to have this chair, and their compelling story cinched the deal. Thank you so much Larry and Pamela--Send pics when this supermodel gets her new dress! 5/29/12
Measurements 106 inches long x 32 inches deep x 27 inches tall.
Seat height 18 inches
Seat depth 27 inches
Awesome design and craftsmanship from all angles. THIS is how you make a chair. Vibrant vertical graining on back with atomic cutouts. Damn.
I'm looking for one of these macrame hangings - if anyone has this exact one, I'll buy it for a fair price! I suspect however that it's a one-of-a-kind art object.

***UPDATE*** 3/7/13 This are heading literally right down the street to Jasmine, who enthusiastically snapped these up for their sweet River North loft. Enjoy!!
Highly striking simplicity here, both durable, and comfortable, with a great ergonomic design. Timeless for sure. I have a set in our loft, and I am sitting in one right now, as I am almost every night. For me, this one is perfect for hard core use (and toddler girls, ha!)
For all of you out in the garden wondering "what am I going to do with all of these terra cotta pots?".
Caption reads: Have you guessed already that the striking room divider pictured above is really an assemblage of terra-cotta flower pots, held secure by dowels run through the drainage holes? The twin chests are painted an exactly matching red. Potted plants in a metal-lined tray complete the picture. A handsmoe wrought-iron candelabrum attached to the wall helps to further the primitive Mexican flavor of the clay-pot construction, which resembles lathe-turned columns.

Purchased from a Craigslist ad, solid teak shelves with teak veneered, steel posts. The posts are losing their veneer so I think I will strip off the split and shredded remnants, then paint the posts black. This is the pic as posted on the original ad. More detailed pics before they are cleaned and then placed.
I can't believe I found a set! These aren't easy to find in the Vancouver area!

Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-bad! ***UPDATE***Fate and timing. Timing and fate. A MAJOR score, even by my lofty standards. Congrats to Jeff & Meghan from St. Charles, Mo, true discerning modernists with an eye for the best. That killer eye has paid great dividends. Standing ovation from me, whistiling in the front row! 6/22/12
There are very few things in this pic that are NOT more than 35 to 40 years old. The chair, the painting and the carpet. I like it but why do we always question our OWN homes when our friends tell us it's great?!?!
Another mid century monster.... Completely redefining the Chicago market..and for you out-of-state ballers, I will ship this bad boy to you, expertly blanket and shrink wrap and place it on a pallet, handle all the shipping details for you (bill of lading, scheduling, etc.. and just kick ass in every conveivable way, 'cuz that is what I do, every time.
