Vatican City (the smallest country in the world and headquarters of the worldwide Catholic Church under the governance of the Holy See) is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome, the only existing example of a country within a city. Rome is often referred to as the City of Seven Hills due to its geography, and also as the "Eternal City". Rome is generally considered to be one of the cradles of Western civilization and Western Christian culture, and the centre of the Catholic Church.

Rome wasn't built in a day and you'll need much more than a day to take in this timeless city. The city is a real-life collage of piazzas, open-air markets, and astonishing historic sites.

Rome is the capital of Italy and the largest and most populous city in the country. It covers an area of 1,285 square kilometres and has nearly 3 million residents.

Constructed on a site occupied by shops from the early Republic and a later basilica, it was begun in 179BC by Marcus Fulvius Nobilior and completed by Marcus Aemilius Lepidus but was completely rebuilt between 55 and 34BC and rebuilt again, after a fire, by Augustus in 14BC, with two porticos dedicted to his grandsons Gaius & Lucius.

The Fontana del Nettuno, or Fountain of Neptune, is located in the northern end of Piazza Navona in Rome. It was designed by Giacomo della Porta and completed by Antonio Della Bitta in 1576. The central figure of the fountain is Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, depicted standing in a shell-shaped chariot pulled by sea horses and other mythical sea creatures. Neptune holds a trident, symbolizing his dominion over the seas. The fountain is adorned with various marine motifs and sculptures, including cherubs, dolphins, and fish, alluding to the theme of water and the sea. It serves as a decorative element within Piazza Navona, contributing to the overall beauty and grandeur of the square.

The Rome Beauty apples are so beautiful. The red ones are perfect, and the ones that are still yellow are flecked with little dots of gold. It almost looks like a Chrismas tree ornament!
