Roll Tide! Kevin begged me for this jersey. He even borrowed someone's practice pads and pants to make it look more authentic for Halloween.
Courtesy of Tory Folliard Gallery, Wisconsin. "Drawing has always been an essential component of my studio practice. My drawings are never preparatory sketches for paintings, but rather exploratory finished artworks in their own right. With works on paper I am able to freely experiment and try out a broad variety of approaches due to the immediate nature of the medium. Half-baked and fleeting thoughts, phrases heard in passing, hybrids and whimsies begging for form⦠these are the impulses that drive my drawing practice. The love of paper (and found paper in particular) is another driving force behind my drawing. Something about reclaiming the lost scraps and fragments of books, ledgers, notepads and discarded frames seems vaguely redemptive to me. I think that the sense of an embedded history carried in these humble materials exerts an even greater pull for me.The display of these drawings in larger or smaller groupings is something that I am interested in due to the way that images can interact in multiple directions. Lined up in a row, one drawing connects to the one on either side but is limited in its conversation with works further down the wall. These organic groupings allow for connections to be made as if one's eye is following the lines of a spider web. Multiple narratives and readings become possible with this type of installation. Unexpected juxtapositions appear with each new assemblage." (panel text)
After seeing someone take a self portrait and post it yesterday I decided I wanted to one for a "year end" type of thing, then do the same this time next year (if i remember!). I found dressing room mirrors to take it in and I goofed off a few times, not expecting I'd like the blowing kisses pics. Funny it turned out to be my favorite.
2014 has been a weird year for me. I spent most of it with someone I thought wanted to be with me. I lost myself. It turned out he didn't want to be with me...and in the end, I didn't really want to be with him either. So he sorta did me a favor because I wasn't able to man up and admit it to anyone but myself.
The happy things were good though. I spent a week at the beach with some of my favorite people in the whole world. I didn't get to travel as much as I would have liked but I plan to rectify that in the coming year. It's a bonus that my best friends are scattered through the US and Canada. It means I get to see more.
I have many plans and hopes and dreams for 2015. Top of the list being: not allowing someone to change me just because they don't like the same hobbies and such as I do. It only matters if I'm happy with myself. And I am. Now that I'm back to the me that reads books non stop, wears red lipstick, writes silly stories, takes pictures of the most random things.
I'm determined to get out more, meet new people, move into a cool place, save some money, spend some money. Fly. Both metaphorically and on a plane. I'm coming for you 2015. You better watch out.

I've been photographing this kid for the past 4 years and he definitely grew a ton over the past year or so. This shoot was definitely among the most fun I've had in a long time with a camera. Something new, but I've been talking to his parents about it for a long time. So glad to have finally had the opportunity.
Shot with 2 bare YN560s for rim and another Yn560 in a boomed octabox for key.
Grim news came in the wake of the ambush. Draconian fears were confirmed, a third company of Tyder Westfoldian's forces made landfall within the Isle.
After hours of questioning the captives they finally revealed that the main host of the force was preparing in Drakesbane and were to advance on the capitol shortly after.
This news was quickly brought to the Stewards of Draconia, the Rolltides.
