Saturday Self Challenge
Our next challenge will be "panning".
This is the technique of creating movement though following a moving object as you take the picture.
This has got to go down in my history book as the most difficult of the Saturday challenges so far. The tutorials and videos made it look relatively easy, well it maybe for some but not for me. I started on Sunday and by Thursday all I’d managed to achieve was hundreds of images of everything from buses to birds that ended up in the bin.
Getting desperate on Thursday morning my husband offered to drive our car up and down at varying speeds until I managed to get a shot (Thanks Karen for planting the seed of an idea) So off we went to a quite road by the reservoir about a mile away, to attempt what I now thought was near impossible. The good news was that it wasn’t raining, but it was freezing cold and blowing a gale. It wasn’t too long before I couldn’t feel my fingers, or see very much as the wind was making my eyes water. Seems it was quite warm and cosy in the car ! Anyway, after several drives passed, plenty more rubbish shots and before I froze to death, I managed to get this, it’s not perfect but I’ve accepted it’s the best I can do. I’m informed the car was travelling at the super fast speed of 23 mph, any faster and it was a blur, slower and the background was in focus too. The strange white patches on the grass are blurred sheep, who were all looking quite puzzled at the strange goings on.
In case anyone is wondering the title ‘I Roll’ is the make of car, derived from Latin.

Daryl Top had a pretty good business and like any good businessman, he was always looking for things to improve. He had an idea for cigarette rolling papers which he called, Tops Rolling Papers. That was back in 1953. He had no idea that his papers would be used for anything other than tobacco and then the 1960s happened.

One of the first rolls I have used on the vacation. I loaded this before the vacation and finished it on the last day of vacation, used the EOS 600 more with 3 rolls and it was my first time using that one so I didnt used this one that much. This is one of the 2 rolls I have shot with the leica. As you can see there are light leaks, it's because of me. When I was bulk loading I accidentally opened the bulk loader (it came off by itself.) on the 12th roll that I had load. After that roll I wrote markings into the each casssette from number 1 to 6 in order to see the damage cronologically. Then I start using them backwards, this was the number ''6'' one, the last one I loaded after the light leakage incident. Seeing how bad it is now, I will just throw the other 5 rolls away. ( luckily I didnt used them on the vacation...)
I made this a while ago, as a companion gift to the quilt for Rob's bro's two year old son.
Picking out the fabrics was tons of fun!
This is loosely based on the crayon roll from LMPQG. I forgot to buy ribbon for ties so I made them out of the exterior elephant fabric.
What started out as a silhouette turned into a Hawk & Roll portrait.

I usually take a photo on every roll of 35mm film of me in my truck’s side view mirror so that I will always know what camera and lens I used on any given roll just by looking at the negatives.

We were told you could get almost to the lake. We have been here before & knew the location the guy told us about. We got along ways up the trial ,before snow slid stopped us. Not in the location we were told.
No room to turn around. Only choice was back down the skinny trail. If you go off call the undertaker.
Lynette got on her knees in the passenger seat. She looked out the back & guided me down. Yes it was a bit nerve racking
