100% crop of lower right hand side of house images

Images were processed for vignette and contrast, so ignore the differences in brightness, etc. Just interested here in the field of view

To get an idea about possible field of view or barrel distortion differences between the Canon 24mm f/1.4 and the Rokinon 24mm f/1.4, I overlayed the two shots I took the other night. For each image, I did an edge-detect filter and then used the "difference" blending mode. Look at full scale to see the deltas.

I *think* that the field of view is actually quite close at this scale. The apparent change might be due to differences in barrel distortion and the planets moving while I changed lenses.

Both images were taken at same settings with camera on a tripod that did not move

Got a great new Fisheye lens from my wife for Christmas. Thought I'd give it a run in this spooky basement.

Hey, you can see my feet.

Bought for one shot cropped in panoramas mainly - a quick walk around Blackwattle Bay just below our pad in Glebe after getting my new, cheap ($250) Rokinon 8mm 3.5 lens from Amazon. Although it is completely manual (meaning camera set to manual and aperture and shutter set from scratch) I was amazed after setting it to f11 and 1/400s focused on infinity what a useful lens this will be. Extremely sharp, fantastic lack of flare (I was even trying to get some pointing into the sun!) and good definition - sadly it is an APC coverage meaning on my 5DII it is a 3/4 frame rectangle, but easy to crop in on raw...certainly beats the canon 15mm I had for a while and the sigma 8mm years ago.
