To my knowledge, this is something unique to the Pioneer Day Rodeo. There are several horse races that take place during the rodeo.
We rode through a lot of farmland on a couple of the days. I'm thinking these guys out in the field all day probably prefer the fog to hot sun.
Rode klaver is een vaste plant met een samengesteld, drietallig blad. De plant kan 15-50 cm hoog worden. De stengel is behaard. De onderste bladeren zijn rond en langgesteeld, de bovenste bladeren bijna zittend, langwerpig en aan onder- en bovenzijde bedekt met haartjes. In het midden van deze bladeren zit een lichte vlek. Naast de bovenste bladeren zitten eivormige blaadjes. De rode klaver bloeit van juni tot in de herfst met roze tot rode bloemen. De bloeiwijzen zijn bol tot eivormig en hebben aan de voet van de bovenste bladeren steunblaadjes. In Ierland is het blad van de rode klaver het nationale embleem. ©Wikipedia

Red clover is a perennial with a compound, ternate leaves. The plant is 15-50 cm high. The stem is hairy. The lower leaves are roun, the upper leaves nearly seated, oblong, and at top and bottom covered with hairs. In the middle of this leaf is a light spot. In addition to the upper leaves are egg-shaped leaves. Red clover blossoms from June until autumn with pink to red flowers.
