There are hundreds of these small, uninhabited islands in the Palauan archipelago, teeming with lush tropical plants and rare, endemic, birds. Some of them have rusty remains of Japanese military equipment from WW II hidden. The ocean between these islands is clear and healthy, and sometimes I saw dense schools of fish passing under our boat continuously for two or three minutes. A magical place.

This abandoned barn was a stable for horses years ago.The pond is from Rock Creek. This view is breathtaking when the trees are in bloom, so i'll take it's photo again later in the season..... Oregon

Split Rock Lighthouse is a lighthouse located southwest of Silver Bay, Minnesota, USA on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The island is Ellingson Island.
Large rock deposited by a retreating Glacier during the Ice Age 10,000 years ago, unlike the surrounding rock and left perfectly balanced as you see it here. Known locally as the Balance Rock, geologists estimate it travelled 40 miles in a northwest to southeast direction and deposited by the Glacier here at Bar Harbor, Maine.

Today was the Pittsboro Street Fair. I hadn't been to a Pittsboro Street Fair since I was little kid........they are a lot different now with beer gardens and live music. As my daughter was standing in line to get a temporary tattoo, I started wandering towards the live music, and it was Sarah Shook and her band! I'd only seen her do more quiet, intimate sets in the past, and it was nice to see her band rock out today.

From this morning's trip to Bald Rock Heritage Preserve in SC:
I woke up at 4:00am this morning. Had a quick shower and breakfast and headed toward the mountains. As the sky began to lighten (around 6:30) I noticed there were no clouds. That usually means fewer opportunities for good photos. Something about clouds in a morning sky just looks great.
I pull up to the entrance, got out my gear and headed across the footbridge and up over the big rock ahead of me. The sky was dark blue with a hint of pink on the horizon. The rolling hills were blanketed by fog as they usually are in early morning. I walked over the mountain top and down the other side thirty or forty feet, looking for a level place to sit a while.
I found a good spot, where I could see the whole view including Table Rock to my extreme right. I sat down. I rested my camera on my lap and opened my thermos. I've had to stop drinking coffee because of my high blood pressure so my thermos was filled with herb tea -- Black Cherry Berry, to be exact.
I sniffed the open thermos as my eyes swept across the view in front of me. I took a sip. I had learned to appreciate Black Cherry Berry over the past days as a suitable substitute for coffee. The sun, to my far left, began to light up the sky and the hills in front of me. A cool breeze of perfectly clean air moved past me as I leisurely drank what seemed even more delicious on this quiet morning.
