The Bar Harbor Whale Watch Company's Lobster Fishing and Seal Watching cruise departs from the town pier in downtown Bar Harbor. The 1¾ hour tour through Frenchman Bay aboard the Miss Samantha, Maine's largest lobster passenger boat, offers two experiences. During the first half of the trip, an experienced fisherman hauls in lobster traps from the ocean floor while a naturalist describes everything and offers a touch tank experience for children During the second half of the trip, the Miss Samantha heads to Egg Rock, midway between Mount Desert Island and the Schoodic Peninsula, where passengers can view the Egg Rock Light and sun-bathing seals.

I went to blackstone rock today in search of poppies but there are still very few up there. The signs say they may still be a couple more weeks yet. Still I got to photograph this one lol :-)

One day it will fall. Until that day, it must stand alone. Life is hard when all you can do is rock.

Rock Point, Ontario, Canada

Jack and I took Rosie up the castle this evening, we saw this big rock on railway sleepers on the green in front of the castle, as the castle was closed there was no one around to ask what or where it was from.....

I added my name using aviary - I won't be using that again !!

Stopped by Chimney Rock in western Nebraska yesterday. Twice. We won't talk about the nearly 200-mile roundtrip I took between visits to retreive my filter bag that was laying on the ground outside of Guernsey, WY... but since I did all that extra driving, I thought perhaps the Singh-Ray Gold n' Blue should do a little work for me in this image...

Chimney Rock was featured on the Nebraska state quarter in 2006. It's about 445 feet from floor to peak.

The first visit three hours earlier did not feature anything exciting lightwise. The return visit - starting about 45 minutes before sunset was more to my liking.

We love this song right now.

Smith Rock.

This one I really laid into with the contrast. I like high contrast in B&W's. Especially on night time shots like this.

The video doesn't show how steep this rock is............or maybe it seemed that way as I didn't want to fall.

Rock face below Cenobio de Valerón ("Valerón Monastery") , municipality Santa María de Guía, Gran Canaria, Spain.

Cenobio de Valerón is an ancient communal grain-store situated on a rock face of the mountain Gallego in the Barranco de Calabozo (Calabozo valley). It was built and used by the ancient canarians, the Guanches.

When it was discovered, people thought the little caves were a kind of convent where young women lived until they got married, so the place was called "cenobio" = "monastery".

Powerless Structures, Fig. 101, by artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset.

Built in 1841, the Northwest Plinth was originally designed to host a bronze equestrian statue of King William IV by Sir Charles Barry, which was never installed. After more than 170 years, Elmgreen &Dragset have completed the process by presenting a new take on the tradition of equestrian statues, directly engaging with the history of the plinth itself.

The child is elevated to the status of a historical hero in line with the existing iconography of the other statues in the square. Instead of acknowledging the heroism of the powerful, however, the work celebrates the heroism of growing up. The image of a young boy astride his rocking horse encourages viewers to consider the less spectacular events in their lives, which are often the most important. The sculpture invokes life’s everyday activities and questions the tradition of monuments predicated on military victory or defeat.

In Powerless Structures, Fig. 101 there is not yet a history to commemorate – only a future to hope for. The boy's features gently mimic the authoritarian pose often found in the tradition of equestrian statues, but his gestures represent pure excitement. There will be no tragic consequences resulting from his imaginary conquest.

joseph helped take care of my father during the worst time after his prostate surgery... the first 5 days after the surgery, dad was hallucinating... he only slept about 15 mins for those 5 days... he was constantly trying to jump out of bed or pull his tubes out... joseph was our rock... the man from lagos was calm... he took care of my dad, ann, and myself... he is a man of god... completed his seminary training... he has my respect.
