Robust warbler found near the ground in thick vegetation. Yellow below with blue-gray head and olive back. Adult males show black chest patch. Females are paler gray on the head; immatures are more olive-toned with a yellowish throat. Breeds in brushy, weedy clearings within mixed or coniferous forest. Often favors raspberry thickets. Tends to stay hidden in low vegetation, so can be difficult to see. Listen for its rolling song, “churry churry churry chew.” Most similar to MacGillivray’s Warbler, but little range overlap, and Mourning has somewhat shorter tail and lacks bold white eye-arcs. Also frequently confused with Common Yellowthroat, especially in fall, but Mourning is larger, with heftier pinkish bill, and brighter yellow underparts. (eBird)

You almost never see a Mourning Warbler high in a tree, so seeing this male out in the open, singing his heart out to potential mates, was very exciting. Previously, I had had only a quick glimpse of a face deep in the shrubs.

A robust, squirrel-like rodent found in alpine grasslands throughout the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau. Adults typically weigh between 4 and 9.2 kg, with a body length of 45–67 cm and a tail measuring 12–15 cm. They have thick fur and adaptations that help them endure cold, high-altitude environments.

These are very social animals living in colonies and we sighted them in good numbers on the side of mountain roads during our trip. They were playing with each other, seemingly hugging at time and foraging together. Their burrowing behavior not only provides shelter but also supports communal hibernation for six to eight months each year. These marmots feed primarily on grasses and flowering alpine plants. Marmots in the wild have an average lifespan of about 15 years.

The species plays a key ecological role in alpine meadows, supporting predators such as snow leopards, wolves, and large raptors.

Compact, robust, and big-headed warbler. Males are striking with a black hood contrasting with whitish throat, gray back, and red eyering. Females duller with a gray hood, white throat, and buff body. Common in many typical Mediterranean habitats including tall bushes, open woodland, gardens, coast, and plantations. Usually first detected by its song, a fast, angry-sounding rattling "ctret-tret-tret-tret-tret" or "tetwtweer-tik-tik-tik" with whispering in between. The call is a dry "tseck."

The Vosgienne is a French bovine breed of medium size robust and well adapted to the mountain, found mainly in the Vosges mountains.

A robust looking damselfly with a dark greyish abdomen and a blue "tail" in the male. The eyes of the male are deep red and the thorax in both sexes is bronze black on top. The female has short, yellowish ante-humeral lines.

Found in lakes, gravel pits, canals and slow-flowing rivers. The males often sit on water lily leaves defending their leaf from allcomers.

The similar, but smaller, Small Red-eyed Damselfly is sometimes found in the same habitat and careful observation is needed to distinguish the two species. Could be confused with the Blue-tailed Damselflies Ischnura elegans and I. pumilio, but these are smaller less robust looking insects and do not have red eyes.

The waterbuck (Kobus ellipsiprymnus) is a large antelope found widely in sub-Saharan Africa.

The defassa waterbuck is a large, robust animal with long, shaggy hair and a brown-gray coat that emits an oily secretion from its sweat glands, which acts as a water repellent. It also has large, rounded ears and white patches above the eyes, and around the nose and mouth and throat.

Despite its name, the waterbuck is not actually aquatic. Rather, they are frequently found in the vicinity of rivers and lakes. They will often venture into the water to escape predators. Within all of the species in this genus, the waterbuck spends the least amount of time in wet areas, often venturing out into woodlands.

This very beautiful female Defasa Waterbuck was captured on a photography safari, quenching her thirst at a watering hole, during an early morning game drive in Tsavo West National Park, Kenya.

The CC-295 Kingfisher is a Canadian military aircraft used for search and rescue missions. Developed by Airbus, it is based on the C295M platform. The sun had already disappeared when Carolina spotted this incredible scene while driving through the Apalachicola National Forest. We quickly turned around and I took my tripod down to the water's edge to take advantage of the rapidly vanishing ambient light. I was hoping for a different composition, however as soon as I eased into the water I realized that it became very deep very fast, and the bottom consisted of loose mud that quickly swallowed my leg up to my knee.

Luckily I was able to find this nice clump of plants close to the shore, and set about capturing a few frames, which I later manually focus stacked. After finishing up, Caro and I enjoyed watching a number of bats exit an adjacent culvert and fly just above the waters surface in pursuit of the swarm of mosquitoes and other insects emerging for the evening.

The caracal is a medium-sized wild cat native to Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and India. It is characterised by a robust build, long legs, a short face, long tufted ears, and long canine teeth. Its coat is uniformly reddish tan or sandy, while the ventral parts are lighter with small reddish markings. It reaches 40–50 cm at the shoulder and weighs 8–19 kg. It was first scientifically described by German naturalist Johann Christian Daniel von Schreber in 1776. Three subspecies are recognised.

Typically nocturnal, the caracal is highly secretive and difficult to observe. It is territorial, and lives mainly alone or in pairs. The caracal is a carnivore that typically preys upon small mammals, birds, and rodents. It can leap higher than 4 metres (12 ft) and catch birds in midair. It stalks its prey until it is within 5 m (16 ft) of it, after which it runs it down and kills its prey with a bite to the throat or to the back of the neck. The average lifespan of captive caracals is nearly 16 years.

Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you!

The Blood Moon is a no frills starfighter with no explosives, energy weapons, or terribly robust shields. Its job is punching new ventilation shafts through enemy ships with its two powerful cannons, and letting the vacuum of space do the dirty work. It relies on its speed to get away as it has little defense against return fire.

I built this over the course of about 5 weeks. The ideas that led to it started off long before that, though, as I was toying with an idea for a drone fighter. I wanted to revisit the color scheme that I used in my cyberpunk hopper car. Dark red as the main color earned it the working title Blood Moon. I got stuck on that for awhile, then started over with a very different design in a different color scheme, now featuring a cockpit. After going away on vacation for a bit, I returned and started over again, returning to the original color scheme, and something a bit closer to the original concept than the direction I'd started to veer off into with the first restart.

On top of my original sketch, I took some inspiration from present day lifting body aircraft. With the exception of the tail, the side profile has a deliberate airfoil shape.

The thing that finally got me going somewhere, after spinning my wheels for a while, was the #69754 tile shooter, which I used in the engines of my previous spacecraft, the Astral Vortex.

The cockpit came next. I really wanted to put the nose way out in front on this one, because I've done a lot of hiding it between cannons or Vic Viper prongs on past builds, which has let me focus less on the shaping. I originally wanted to brick-build a sleeker version of the classic 2507 windscreen in trans neon green. I didn't have those hinged wing parts that make the side in the right color, so I temporarily used black, and by the time I got the parts in my intended color it had evolved and I liked the black better.

Another of my frequent habits, showing up in nearly every spacecraft I've built since the Ugly Duckling, is using a lot of white brick in my hulls. I like that look, and I certainly don't plan to abandon it, but this time around I decided to use none at all for the sake of trying something different. The goal was to achieve a darker grittier look, while still keeping the high contrast that comes with spanning a wide range of shades.

This is one of my more complicated builds in terms of weird out-of-system geometry. There are few 90 degree angles to be found, anywhere. They only visible part with studs not at some weird out of system angle from the frame is the small recessed panel in front of the intake below the black pipe.

---

I underestimated the length of the build while it was still in progress, and the display stand mount wound up being significantly in front of the center of gravity. It was a bit late to change that by the time I was far along enough to know where the true center of gravity would be. It's locked to the frame, so it's not going to fall off no matter where it's attached. But the base still needs to be kind of centered below the center of gravity, which put the neck close to the front. I decided to take advantage of this by mirroring the delta shape of the wings in the display stand base.

One of the weirder sights in Loch Eck is this little tree managing to survive and prosper in the middle of the loch. Nature can be such a robust thing!

Eastern variant.

Described variously as inelegant, robust, stocky, heavily built, and drab. I think they are pretty awesome.

Fuente: ichn2.iec.cat/Bages//z-humides/Imatges%20grans/cDipsacus%...

Heliconia cultivars are robust garden plants in the sub-tropical Gold Coast hinterland. This one grows in a barrel in shaded corner of my home garden. I brought this stem inside to control the light and wind movement for this image. The plant itself is a bit scruffy so this selective image does it more than justice.

Crinum or Swamp Lily (Crinum pedunculatum) presents its first blooms of the spring in my Gold Coast hinterland garden. Each stem produces about twenty blooms eventually. It is a popular and robust garden plant in northern Australian gardens and is native to Australia and Papua New Guinea and a few Pacific Islands. I like the anthers!

Yesterday morning we came upon this large dead squid that had washed up. You just never know what you might find when you walk the beach!

After some online searching, I think this may be a so-called robust clubhook squid, which is one of the larger squids and a relatively rare find on the beach.

There is really no way I would ever encounter such an animal where it lives, and so I must be satisfied with the mystery and the excitement of finding its remains unexpectedly.

It does something to you to find a creature you cannot identify and have never seen before. It's like for a moment you lock eyes with Life itself.

Also called the Bridge of Lies is one of the first cast iron bridge to be built in Europe and the third cast iron bridge built on the territory of today's Romania and Transylvania, the first being built in 1841.

The bridge is the oldest cast iron bridge in service on the territory of Romania.

Considered to be a forged iron gem, The Bridge of Lies is one of the most important symbols of the city.

Rebuilt in 1859 (made in the Friedrich Hütte workshops) in the former location of a gate bridge belonging to the 2nd fortification wall. The initially vaulted passage used to be made through an conglomerate of buildings which had been demolished in 1851: the Town’s Scale, the selling market places belonging to the Cobblers, Shoemakers, Tailor’s, Baker’s guilds, the Milks’ Bridge, the house belonging to Baron Rosenfeld where it used to be the Law Academy, the Jikeli house with the chemist’s, the barber’s shop. In the same period the staircases on the western side of Ocnei Street were demolished.

A favorite strolling place for young couples, the bridge stands out due to its resistance pieces decorated with rosettes and a belt of elements placed in circles with decreasing sizes and adorned with vegetal and neo-gothic geometric motifs.

These bear on the southern side the coat of arms of Sibiu and on the northern side the inscriptions “1859” and “Friedrich Hütte”. The four pedestals at the extremity of the bridge, more robust and made in stone, sustain lighting devices made in cast iron. The metallic rail of the bridge consists of eight panels with circles in a gothic radial décor.
