Our little friend Evan turned 5 today and at his Wall E theme birthday party they made robots out of foam paper and pipe cleaners. This is the one that Violet made.
So I thought I'd try something different icing wise and tried a vienna cream icing recipe… well… it was okay… they would look much better if I had a piping doovey wacka. Call me boring but I would prefer regular "icing mixture & water" icing any day. It's much easier to work with and doesn't taste over the top & woha buttery.
Jeff and I built Herbie last night. I'm good at soldering. He's a little frantic, but still, basically, he works!! I felt like I'd given birth or something. ROBOT! We renamed him Springsteen -- long story.

Made this guy for Misti's birthday as well. Struggled with the "cape" thingy. Not sure, but I may have put it on him upside down. Oh well. He turned out pretty awesome anyway. Holly had the great idea to use snaps for his eyes and I love it!

i'm sure that flickr will be flooded with hearts and flowers today - so the plan was to post a picture from my usual environment without gushy hearts and love notes. but somehow a couple hearts snuck into the photo. grrr!
(i'm loving my new powershot a720is by the way - it pretty much goes fully manual - even down to the focus.)
