Bomb squads from across the country saddled up their robots and duked it out at the ninth annual Western National Robot Rodeo and Capability Exercise at Sandia National Laboratories. The five-day event offers a challenging platform for civilian and military bomb squad teams to practice defusing dangerous situations with robots’ help.

Trying to build a bit smaller using the Omicron robot style. Kinda looks like something Ripley would attack the Alien Mother with.

I started this robot guy earlier in the year and just finished him up recently. I do not love the color pink so this year I am trying to use it a lot in new ways that will make me reexamine my prejudice against it. Pink does not have to belong to Barbie and little girls, it can be used in very non sentimental ways. I really liked combining pink with brown and copper here. Some of the glass was cut into on the ring saw.

The first 4 are ready to be shipped. When i can find the right USB sticks the rest of the 50 robots will be made. Some will be all white, some cased in Tin and the others will be hand painted.
The normal hand painted ones (see picture) and the white edition cost 39 euro, the ones casted in Tin (limited to 5) cost 79 euro.
All robots come with a 4gb USB stick, because what’s a robot without its head...

Photos from the Virginia Beach Fire Training Center this week of testing being done on the latest robotic technology available to emergency response agencies. ASTI International along with federal agencies to include NSTI and the Department of Homeland Security were here at the training center to test and evaluate the various systems available today. They are doing standardize testing on the robotic systems to help various emergency response agencies and the military determine and quantify the capabilities of these systems. This testing /competing helps agencies determine what are the best systems for their particular missions and even increases proficiency of the users of these systems. Robotics developers from as far away as Japan and elsewhere around the world are here to participate in this unique event.
The robotics systems included ground, aerial and aquatic robots, maneuvering through special obstacle courses built for this event. Some of the robots even maneuvered through the “Burn House” at the fire training center. Local police departments and military units are participating with their bomb disposal units and NYFD and other fire departments across the country are also participating.

This is my model of OPTIMUS PRIME robot mode 2 made in cardboard. I drawn myself all the pieces with my hands without templates, the colors and sizes are taken from design in square notebook. The robot design is original from TV animated series TRANSFORMERS produced by HASBRO in 1985. At the end of the Cybertron’s gold age, Megatron injuried to Orion Pax, then Alpha Trion rebuilt him in Optimus Prime the new leader of the Autobots before the defeat of Sentinel Prime. Now Optimus transforms into a tractor trailer truck. The music was composed by Johnny Douglas and Robert J. Walsh.
Este es mi modelo de ORION PAX hecho en cartulina. Yo mismo dibujé todas las piezas con mis manos sin ninguna plantilla, los colores y medidas son tomados de un diseño en cuaderno cuadriculado. El diseño es original de la serie televisada TRANSFORMERS producida por HASBRO en 1985. During the world war II, Otto Berning produced his famous Robot Luftwaffe Eigentum
( Air force property), this was a special production of flight recognized cameras.
This is a beautiful F serial, 4th version of 1942, with Long-long advance knob
(48 exposures) and two holes on top. The F serial comes from the german
word "Flieger" or "Flyer", with the famous Sonnar 7,5 cm lens,
in aluminium body of 1941, a rare war time lens, the most popular lens was the
Tele-Xenar of 7,5 cm, the Biotar 2,0, and the Xenon 1,9 lens. Only a few units of this
versión was fited with the Carl Zeiss 7,5 cm Sonnar.
The camera was used in several German fighter planes like the Messerschmitt BF 109 and 110
and the Focke Wulf 190. In the last one the camera was mounted in a cradle in the right
wing and was connected with the guns. The camera could also be used handheld by the crew

The Intacom programme is a series of projects based on the development of robotic inspection systems that is being led by TWI’s Advanced Non-destructive Testing Centre in Port Talbot, South Wales. The programme’s overall aim is to reduce the cost of inspection of complex geometry components for the aerospace industry. The first phases of the project delivered a prototype automated inspection cell using two 6-axis robot arms to inspect highly curved components in a fraction of the time usually taken by other automated NDT systems. It incorporated custom developed advanced ultrasonic testing technology to provide 3D imaging of parts that, in many cases, could not be inspected in any other way.

Here's my latest Great Ball Contraption module. It features a robotic arm with five degrees of freedom using two networked NXTs. It's an incredible overkill for moving LEGO balls from one spot to the other - but that's whole point of GBCs, isn't it!
