This was one of the alterations made by our Rts previous owner but it seems flimsy sink plug retention chain wasn't up to the job ...
It was noisy too and has marked the veneer.
I've replaced it with sturdy polypropylene strapping from an old bike rack.

I made the struts to tilt the solar panels up over the holidays, and raised the back to get a 24 degree tilt. They're adjustable up to 45 degrees. I'll play with them a bit and see how it affects wattage.

Folks have expressed interest how the bigger door was able to fit into a 30-year old neighborhood. We were lucky in that there was a slight grade to the left of the garage and the left side of the lot is a corner lot, We had to get a zoning variance as the addition was about 1/3 over the building line. I presented my Photoshop rendition "as envisioned" and the zoning officer was pleased. The Neighborhood Association was doubtful until they saw the same Photoshop rendition. There are two nice double windows on the left side that dresses up the long (37 foot) wall. We were able to get landscape bushes and grass planted within a day of completion. Within a week, there was green grass. It is interesting that as the neighborhood people comment, they just talk about the new drive - not even mentioning the garage or the big garage door. The door is 9'3". Wanted 10'4" for a standard Class C RV but was sensitive that it would be too large for a neighborhood of 7' garage doors, and look out of place. As is, a VW Rialta or Roadtrek would fit nicely.

#Ptarmigan #Lake #Trail July 3, 2016
Three week change in weather and trail conditions. No snow and a carpet of #Alpine #Wildflowers Got on the trail about 8 am to cloudy and cool weather. By the time I got to the first pot hole lake in the upper meadow, the sun was peeking through. After a hike around the Ptarmigan Lake, we started down as storm clouds moved in bring a short rain.
Trails offer many different experiences, on this one we also observed a mating pair of #Pine #Grosbeak and engage is a great #Botany discussion, while learning a few things.
Remember where you are and don’t leave a mess on the carpet.

During our March Gamble Rogers visit, there were three late 1990s 190 Versatiles already there when we arrived. Two were from Ontario and the other from Ohio, and all were VERY glad to be here.

There is a great big world out there waiting to be loved by you.
As removing the factory head unit removed the "lights on" buzzer I wanted a light on the dash to show remind me they are on.
The canbus light system proved a challenge too far for my local auto electrician (at least within a reasonable time/cost).
I got around the problem by running a +ive feed back from the front marker light. Low tech but it gets the job done. I also used the feed to power the rear view camera switch so it can't be left on once lights are off. That also acts as a lights on reminder too.
So much so a single din cage makes the ideal infill piece.
I used a low tech foam filler technique rather than ship a proper bracket from the US as shipping costs were 10 times the item value ;)
the outboard rods are visible. I was concerned that the batteries would distort the opening, and possibly lead to structural failure.
I mounted the camera on a piece of aluminium bent into a shape which enabled it to be be positioned far enough out from the rear to provide a clear view of the tow ball past the curve of the rear doors.
It is simply mounted on exterior "No-Nails" tape with a single cable tie for security.
No wonder we have a little damp evident around the inside of the front roof windows. The holes made through the grp roof for the wires for the lights are not watertight & the wires themselves seem to be acting like a straw sucking in all the water that settles in the hollow where the light units sit.
I have stuck the replacement led lights on with copious amounts of PU Cement ... Ensuring it was squeezed into all the holes & totally filled all the voids in the light unit base so there is no room for water the gather in the future.

We had a doe here last year - I saw her nearly every day, but we had gone five days before I saw our first deer here this year, an 8 point buck, who wandered by about 30 feet away at dusk today. Roadtreks would make great deer blinds - if you're inside and not making noise they'll walk right by you. Slim pickings here in the forest - I bet they have to range far and wide to get enough to eat around here.
Small wide angle cam came as part of a kit.
The camera is powered by the rear marker / running lights so I don't need to be in reverse to use it.
The cable runs down the side of the van passed the the lights & inside the van at the bottom of the rear driver's side door. It then runs up passed the AV Cupboard (where it joins another cable running along the bottom of the fridge, kitchen & wardrobe to the driver's seat base where it meets the input cable I had run from the head unit.
Done!
the big red light is the camera switch which triggers the head unit to display the rear view cam ... even when to hear unit is switched off.
Head unit & Camera £150 from China
7" HD Screen is very very good ... but the UI total rubbish ... But it dose all I need ... Play iPod/Phone trough line in B)
EDIT to add ... it worked fine for 6 weeks then failed ... I have since installed a new Alpine head unit and camera.
There's our Roadtrek at the top in the Strawberry Hill parking lot, and the sandy hardpan forming the face of the cliff. This stuff is heavily mineralized and impervious to water, hence the name - many beachfront lots can't be built on because you can't put in a septic system. Note the two lines of white near the top - those are different layers of mussel and other shells, discarded by the native Americans who lived along this coast. They're everywhere we stop. The soil formed over them, and then the cliff eroded away, exposing these middens.
