A restored 1938 Rudge Special Motorcycle on its first post restoration run.
A local friend restores vintage motorcycles for a hobby, about 18 months ago he started his latest project to restore a 1938 Rudge Special. It really was a ground up project, the bike arriving as a collection of rusty pieces in a cardboard box see here ; for a shot of the bike in pieces prior to restoration.
See here for a photograph taken part way through the restoration.

The name suggests SUV but in reality the new Volvo is more an AWD version of the new hatch.
It seems that Europeans like the idea of a more rugged, capable AWD variant of a popular model more than we do here in Australia where our love affair with SUVs shows no signs of abating.

Introduced as Lincoln's first pickup truck in August 2001 at the start of the 2002 model year, the Blackwood was a deluxe version of the F-150 which Lincoln-Mercury had aimed mainly at trailer-towing horse owners and certain old money types looking for a luxury truck as a towing unit (8,700 lb capacity). The Blackwood was dropped after one year with only 3,356 units. Being RWD only and lack of versatile cargo capacity (only a 4' x 8' "cargo box" with twin rear doors, no traditional load bed) limited interest. The Blackwood had a single standard trim $51,785 retail list price, with the only factory option being a navigation system.

FIRST THOUGHTS: It looks like an RX and it feels like an RX. The fact that it has an all-new engine and is 2WD though, is something we haven’t previously seen before in the RX line. - You can check out the full review of the Lexus RX270 here at; www.mynrma.com.au/motoring/reviews/car-reviews/lexus/lexu... This is a period road test in Indonesian Mobil & Motor (M&M for short; this title makes it nearly impossible to find online due to the Smarties competitors). I translated it from Indonesian and reformatted it with English text, using InDesign. Why? Just an urge, hopefully someone will find it interesting.
The Indonesians seem to have only gotten the 2.0-litre RX60 with specs close to those of a European Cressida and minimum of the bling seen on JDM vehicles. It replaced the 130-series Corona there. I welcome translation comments, the original text is also available HERE if needed.

This is a momentous day for me as it is the first day I have ever worn lipstick (except for my younger days of ballet + the odd theatre performance) so I am pretty stoked! It is a pretty out there shade of red/hot pink so I thought I would wear all black to ease into this lipstick wearing lifestyle! I also found this vintage strawberry/watermelon red bag amongst my collection that I haven't used in ages so I thought it would be a perfect day to take it out + break up the monotone!
Just wore my usual jewellery + my vintage black 'audrey' dress, black coat + black peeptoe heels (these were one of the two pairs I got repaired on the weekend, they are such a good back up heel so I'm glad I have them back in working order!) So a pretty basic outfit, but I didn't want to wear something complicated + then chicken out at the last minute and wipe off the lipstick! So, I made it out the door to roadtest the lipstick-wearing me! (I should probably take an indoor photo next time, so you can actually see the colour properly, it's really sweet!)

1969 VW Beetle Herb-i-Islami at dusk on her first outing in Kabul after months of repairs.
Although she made to the top of this hill in Taimani, overlooking Kabul, it was only after conking out half way up, then the accelerator pedal jammed down, sending her careering into a football game, and finally she died altogether, forcing the super-mechanic Zia Hassan Faqiri to come and save her.

Took my new camera for a proper 'roadtest' today, and it did really well, despite the relentless light from the sun. It has quite a useful function on it called 'Toy Camera', which darkens the edges of the photo and puts a blue hue on everything, works quite well from what I have gathered. Found a lot of interesting stuff, but this serves as merely a teaser of whats to come when I get round to uploading the shots from today.
