Every evening devotees float Diyas (floral floats with lamps) and incense on the river Ganges, commemorating their deceased ancestors
Rishikesh with masses of ancient temples along the banks of the river Ganges has been a magnet for spiritual seekers. The exquisite setting on the fast-flowing Ganges, surrounded by forested hills, is conducive to meditation and mind expansion. Hindu sages and saints have visited Rishikesh since ancient times to meditate in search of higher knowledge. Rishikesh is not all spirituality; it's now a popular backpacker destination and Himalayan-trekking gateway.
