"May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view.
May your mountains rise into and above the clouds."

Looking down upon the lake
The blue, white and green they make
Beauty shine, rise up high
Until it caresses my watching eye
I stand above, upon the hill
I feel the wonder and the thrill
Of seeing the blue , white and green
Floating on the lake, just like a dream
“Awake, my soul, and with the sun thy daily course of duty run. Cast off dull sloth, and joyful rise to pay thy morning sacrifice. All praise to thee, who safe hast kept and hast refreshed me while I slept! Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake, I may of endless life partake.”
Thomas Ken

I took this stunning moon rise shot from the balcony of our hotel room whilst we were on holiday. The shot was helped as we were on the top floor of the hotel and i could get a good angle for the shot.
I had to use a very long shutter speed to get this shot as it as very dark. I think that the shutter speed was something like 120 seconds. To get the moon to look not over exposed i took a shot of it with a very Fast shutter speed and then fixed it in the post processing.
Camera Details
Camera Nikon D90
Exposure 114
Aperture f/38.0
Focal Length 112 mm
ISO Speed 100
Post-Processing Steps
I used Photoshop to bring in the two images the long exposure and the single exposure of the moon. Then I ran the long exposure through topaz adjust to correct the exposure and the brightness. I also used topaz denoise to get rid of the noise in the image. Once the background image was cleaned up I put the good moon shot on top of the moon that was blurred and over exposed from the long exposure and cleaned up the image. Once all this was done i used groups and adjustment layers to get the picture looking like it does. Then I exported it to a jpeg.

“Don't give up the fight. Don't dim out the light. Those who at first don't believe in you, will soon begin to ask you "how did you do it?” Keep it up!”

“The image in your eyes reflecting the pain that has taken you. I hear it in your voice, so ridden with shame from what’s hailing you. I won’t give up so don’t give in. You’ve fallen down but you can rise again so don’t give up.
When the demon that’s inside you is ready to begin and it feels like it’s a battle that you will never win. When you’re aching for the fire and begging for your sin. When there’s nothing left inside, there’s still a reason to fight.”

Mt. Rainier and a waining crescent. I stopped on my workday morning to capture part of a gorgeous sunrise and moonset.
Sediments laid down in horizontal beds have been broken and tilted in the Rockies, sometimes reaching vertical orientation.
Happy Hump Day!
PS. (Sept 6) Interesting light/shadow here caught my attention, but when I printed it the shadow side was a disappointment. Pushed Clarity and Texture separately for midtones and highlights with Photomator, and replaced the original with this stronger version.

It was a moody spring afternoon spent with my head in the clouds. Love the dramatic skies during season change.
