This shot from the Aransas wildlife refuge was only possible due to the humidity in the air & the fog that not only shaded the sun but also caught these amazing colors. Since it was sunrise there were many brown pelicans out looking for their breakfast.

A very tame Dark-capped Bulbul in the restaurant area of Pilanesberg Game Reserve. There were quite a few of these guys hanging around, hoping to grab some crumbs from a just-eaten-at table.
When the temperatures started to get cold last fall, the wasps and bees would sleep under the Dahlia petals at night to stay warm. This wasp was just waking up and crawling out of bed when I spotted him. 😄
Thanks so much for your visits. Happy Wing Wednesday!

Where there is a Sun, there is always a LIFE! Dear Sun, please always rise on me and others who deserve your life…. BeNowMeHere, near Walensee, Switzerland, 2015 via 500px bit.ly/1Swg4HG

The kingfisher feeds mainly on fish caught from a perch above the water. The bird remains resting for long periods of time, looking carefully at the water for prey, turning and tilting the head and body. When the prey is detected, it plunges sharply and captures the fish under water, up to one meter deep. Then, using its wings, it propels itself towards the surface and rises, the beak stretched towards the sky, and returns on its perch.
swallow after a water rush not perfect but I'm improving so I'm happy. this is highly cropped so I think the 600mm has to make an appearance for the best results.
Grebes are aquatic diving birds in the order Podicipediformes Grebes are widely distributed freshwater birds, with some species also found in marine habitats during migration and winter. Most grebes fly, although some flightless species exist, most notably in stable lakes. The order contains a single family, the Podicipedidae, which includes 22 species in six extant genera.
Although, superficially, they resemble other diving birds such as loons and coots, they are most closely related to flamingos, as supported by morphological, molecular and paleontological data. Many species are monogamous and are known for their courtship displays, with the pair performing synchronized dances across the water's surface. The birds build floating vegetative nests where they lay several eggs. About a third of the world's grebes are listed at various levels of conservation concerns—the biggest threats including habitat loss, the introduction of invasive predatory fish and human poaching. As such, three species have gone extinct.

“Because somehow, the sun rises each day. Emerging from the horizon, brighter and more beautiful than the previous day. You’ll rise from the horizon too, learning to trust again. Learning to love again. Learning to heal. You’ll emerge so bright that the haters will be blinded. And darling, you’ll be the sun then, bright and beautiful, but they won’t be your sunflowers.” ~Minahil
♫ When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, you're out of time
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise ♫

You’re broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry-go-round
And you can’t find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains
We gonna walk it out
And move mountains
And I’ll rise up
I'll rise like the day
I’ll rise up
I'll rise unafraid
I'll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again
And I’ll rise up
High like the waves
I’ll rise up
In spite of the ache
I'll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again
When the silence isn’t quiet
And it feels like it’s getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we’ll take the world to its feet
And move mountains
Bring it to its feet
And move mountains
All we need, all we need is hope
And for that we have each other
And for that we have each other

I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
Oh, ye of so little faith
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Victory is in my veins
I know it, I know it
And I will not negotiate
I'll fight it, I'll fight it
I will transform
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, you're out of time
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
A little scene picked out in the mist. As i was shooting, the smoke from the chimney started to come out which added something extra.
