The muted colours of the sunset are reflected by the calm surface of the lake, as ripples gently pass by..
In addition, the shallow lake water is warm in tone, as affected by rocks, sand, and algae underneath the surface. Such features all contribute to the lake's pastel colours.

By way of a respite from trains, this is a rework and reboot of a 6x6 medium format image taken just over 20 years ago.
I took it on Kodak E100S transparency film but, after scanning, preferred the punchier impact of the toned monochrome conversion. Cropped slightly from the top.
The location is Jury's Gap in Sussex.

From my notes of June 1990, i wrote " the appearance of Pier movement in the shadows from strong sunlight.and hand rail timber warp."
Around this time i was playing with all sorts of ideas and filters....
If only i had been more detailed with my note keeping........
It was a fishing trip with my two sons, Carr Mill Dam, St Helens, they fished i played with the photo gear, they kept the fish and family shots, i kept the play time ones.
Ripples in the sand on a windblown beach.
First bit of fresh air I have gotten in a bit, as I am just starting to recover from a bad bout of Covid, compliments of the guy who coughed on me without covering his mouth.

Grateful Dead - Ripple

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men
There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home
Sail away, away
Ripples never come back.
Gone to the other side.
Sail away, away.

This is another image from yesterday taken during the bird show. They certainly did make good use of this bath as you can see by the ripples in the water and the droplets that were splashed about.
I like the way the water was reflecting the foliage around to color the water. It was cool outside with gorgeous sunlight and lots of shadows from the trees. Although, I have to admit I am a baby when it comes to temperatures, there were butterflies flitting about so it couldn't have been all that cool.
Me in temperatures below 60 degrees. I hope you have a fulfilled day regardless if it's for work or play. Happy snapping.
The wind blows ripples into sand dunes in the Lake Mungo lunette. Millions of sand grains being blown up the windward surface of a dune form a series of ridges and troughs called wind ripples. The bouncing sand grains more often then not land on the windward side of each ripple creading a low ridge. The spacing of the ridges and troughs is related to the average distance grains jump and is determined by by the wind velocity and grain size. The dunes stretch in a continuous arc for approximately 40km. NSW, Australia.

Small waves are great for presenting a ripple fold contrasting abstract aided by reflections from the sun..
Another from this morning.
Quite like the ripple effect, which was caused by a Hoseasons cruiser who's 'captain' must have either had incredible near bionic visual abilities or had had radar fitted to his water craft as the mist up river was literally blinding.

Playing with a few images from the summer - really like this one with the ripples in the sand creating interesting textures.
Third and last post in my brief landscape set is this shot taken at White Sands National Monument. In 2019 the monument was "upgraded" to a National Park.
