As I stated in the previous photo, he was not happy that I was there photographing him while he bathed, and he rightly told me off!!
For the rest of the week there will be a little gleaning of my pictures from Morocco. I have already shown you a few of the Atlas Mountains. On these, the landscape was almost entirely rocky, bone dry and seemed very hostile to life. One rightly asks how the Berbers were able to live and survive up here.
Here you can see an answer to this question, the river Ourika at the foot of the valley of the same name.
There are some of these rivers that cut deep into the Atlas Mountains and still contribute to Marrakesh's water supply today. Without the water from the mountains, Marrakesh would never have been so big, possibly never founded.
And indeed, the nature on both sides of the rivers is truly paradisiacal. Here you can find not only the classic agricultural products, but also entire forests of cherry, peach and apple trees. Something I never expected here. What I also didn't expect here, by the way, were the hundreds of small restaurants on the river bank (so all hell must break loose here in the season). On the right bank, hidden under the branches of the willow, you can see one of them.

The small town of San Gimignano is nestled in the wonderful landscape of Tuscany. San Gimignano is also called the "Medieval Manhattan" or the "City of Towers". In the Middle Ages, patrician families tried to outdo each other with the height of their so-called family towers. Today, 15 of the original 72 towers remain. The highest ones date from 1311. The medieval town center has rightly been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.

So many elegant and beautiful shots uploaded of this giant of the skies
And rightly so
But...
Every now and again you get that slightly less elegant and dignified moment!
This view of Nidderdale is taken from the narrow Wath Road which runs from Pateley Bridge to Wath village in North Yorkshire.
The large tree is a Copper Beech Tree. Running at the side of the road is a Dry Stone Wall (Happy Fence Friday HFF)
Rightly proud of its place within the Dales, Nidderdale is for many the favourite Dale. It truly deserves its status as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its stunning moorland scenery and tapestry of lush green meadows

On one of my many mountain hikes this summer, I explored this incredibly beautiful area, which is rightly part of UNESCO's World Heritage list. I have rarely seen such a beautiful and untouched natural landscape.

A trip to southern Styria, where we went along the hilly southern Styrian wine route, offered wonderful photo motifs. We were able to see for ourselves why the region is rightly called the "Styrian Tuscany"
If I remember rightly this guy came in suddenly from my left so its slightly out of frame but its one of my favourite shots I love the blue and the wing.
A small flock of sheep graze the lush grass in the area of ??Fanari, Karditsa. In the background, the small but historic castle of the village is clearly visible. It is a relatively recently carefully restored and illuminated medieval fortress at night.
The village itself is a semi-mountainous settlement with mainly stone houses, both folk and mansions.
The area is of great natural beauty, especially in spring with the wild flowering koutsoupies (Cercis siliquastrum) or Judas tree and, I think, has been rightly described as "the little Tuscany" of Greece.

I had a very nice walk up the Staffordhsire & Worcestershire canal .....from Caunsall Bridge to Kinver ......here i was heading back when i saw these 4 gentlemen who were not in the 1st flush of youth coming through Hyde Lock .They didn't seem to be in any rush and rightly so ....life on the canal is lived in the slow lane

Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles) juvenile
I have been aware that the pair of Masked Lapwings that are living in the High School on Hoppers Lane have two chicks for a while. But as I haven't been along there on a weekend until yesterday I was unable to get ant images, the school, and rightly so, don't allow cameras pointed into the grounds while students are on campus. Thankfully yesterday the family had ventured down near the fence so I was able to photograph them.
Went back through some old photos and found many I have never posted including this one. I can't even rightly remember where I was when I took this, but I was so struck by the vulnerable new growths below this obviously much older tree. Mother and Children is what instantly came to mind, plus with the already fallen leaves gave this such an Autumnal esque.
One thing that is my favourite aspect of photography is utilising the Sunlight, not just natural light from a window or other light source, but specifically the direct Sun, for flowers, leaves, plants and other things, it's more than just energy, it's feel, atmosphere and warmth.
How is everyone, gearing up for Crimbo methinks, almost there and so as always, thank you! :)
The fishermans hut on the bank of the Lochan an Iasgair catches a brief splash of sunlight, the cliffs of Liathach towering above.
Torridon is such a spectacular place, and Liathach is rightly the centrepiece. A sandstone giant that rises more than 3000 feet straight up above the valley floor. The knife edge ridge along the top is one of the finest on the Scottish mainland.

Taken when were staying at the coast a couple of weeks ago.
I just took a Sony a7ii out with a Tamron FE 28-75mm 2.8 that day because it is light and versatile. Shot at 75mm f5/6 iso 100 1/250
I was still unwell so this lens came in handy and the steady shot a feature vital as I had to kneel whilst feeling as wafty as a leaf in the wind myself. The wish to get spring flowers spurred me on but autofocus definitely has its uses....
I did go back with the CZ Pancolar the following day because it was a both pretty and ultra quite woodland and both days we only bumped into a small family - but didn’t fare much better if I remember rightly...
The best part of summer in the woods near my house in Connecticut. This rightly belongs in my 'stone-water-light' series. Found in Old Mine park in Trumbull, Connecticut.

The beautiful little traditional fishing village of Polperro is rightly considered as one of Cornwall's gems. It is situated on the south-east coast about four miles west of Looe where ancient cottages cling to steep hillsides either side of the small harbour. The village still retains a small fishing industry, but several of the boats now provide trips for visitors during the summer holiday season. The village has galleries featuring work by local artists as well as a number of pubs, restaurants and takeaways. The only downside is the long walk up the hill to the car park plus the cost of parking - £5 for three hours.
The Farne Islands are rightly popular to visit in order to see Puffins in large numbers but there are other birds nesting there as well. I enjoyed getting fairly close to a family of Shags usually they are at the foot of some sheer cliff but this group were in plain sight
Shags are goose-sized dark long-necked birds similar to cormorants but smaller and generally slimmer with a characteristic steep forehead. In the breeding season adults develop a dark glossy green plumage and prominent recurved crest on the front of their head. In the UK they breed on coastal sites, mainly in the north and west, and over half their population is found at fewer than 10 sites, making them an Amber List species.

Hiking in the Dahner Felsenland - perfect weather for strenuous but beautiful tours.
A hiking region in a class of its own: mighty castle ruins and a bizarre landscape of red sandstone characterize the Dahner Felsenland, which rightly deserves its name "Arizona in the Palatinate".
Surefootedness and a head for heights are necessary, as the climb is very steep - but above all the descent is steep again.
Sturdy hiking boots are necessary anyway on the round.

Rectangle, square, panoramic? How do you crop an image? Of course, the choice is entirely up to you, the photographer...and quite rightly so. Like most of us bird and wildlife photographers, we always aim to get as close as possible to our beloved subject(s) when out and about in the environment. At times (quite a lot of times actually) our subject(s) are mainly very small in the frame which leads us to crop in on the image for a better finished composition to the piece. However, have you given any thought of maybe cropping your full frames to a 16:9 ratio? I personally really enjoy using this crop as it adds more of the environment for the viewer which is not a bad thing come to think of it?
Gaura is one of my favorite flowers. It is small, delicate and filigran and always moves with the slightest breeze (and disappears from the viewfinder/display). Sometimes it is also called a "floating butterfly flower", and rightly so.
Another bounty from my trip across the bridge: there were two Swamp Harriers working the area I happended to be in. This one rightly assesed the lighting conditions and gave me that smirk, knowing that it wasn't to be a terribly good shot.

Kauai, known as "The Garden Island" is rightly named. It is so lush and full of a variety of shades of vivid green. Princeville, where this photo was taken, receives 85" of rain per year. However Mount Wai'ale'ale, also on Kauai, receives 450" (more than 38') of rain annually. The record for that spot is 683" (almost 60') .
Looking out over the extensive Chichester Harbour area and quite rightly designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
View of the iconic cool residential apartment block. Bølgen (Danish "The Wave") is located by the waterfront in Vejle, Denmark. It is inspired by the Sydney Opera House by another Danish architect Jørn Utzon and the hilly landscape around Vejle. Each tile-clad wave rises to a height of nine stories and includes 20 individual apartments. It has, rightly I think, been named as a ground-breaking architecture piece in modern times and a significant landmark. Good to see some creative bold courageous architecture. Very impressive.
