This is a lake called Loch Restil in Argyll Forest Park in the Scottish Highlands. It is quite a nice trek up the hill except for the attacks by midges. The park can be accessed from the A83 from Iveraray

A succession of ridge lines recedes into the distance as the sun is setting. These ridges are the product of the Pacific and North American tectonic plates sliding stickily past one another for a few million years. The nominal boundary line is the San Andreas Fault, about a mile or so directly behind us.
View from the tip top of Panorama Ridge in BC's Garibaldi Provincial Park. From left to right-- Guard Mountain, Mt. Garibaldi, Mt. Price.
Z151 notches up to make a quick and short climb over Michigan's Fruit Ridge that is thick with apple orchards.
There's a reason they are called the Blue Ridge Mountains :). Taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Craggy Gardens area.
The Malvern Hills are a beauty spot, the hills have a ridge line thta is roughly 9 miles long and the walks thereabouts are very popular.
The highest point Worcester Beacon gives a great vantage point for sunrise as the light hits the ridge.
Luv the shapes that the snow makes on the rocks at this time of year. This looking from Whistlers Mountain in Jasper.
Took on the challenge to ride up to Hurrican Ridge, in the Olympic National Park. 19 miles of continuous ascending with 12% grades at times.
This is the view from Mt.Maekamuro, part of Kamuro mountains.
Kamuro mountains have wonderful and long ridge lines so they are also called "Michinoku Alps".
神室山地、前神室山からの眺望です。神室山地は長く素晴らしい尾根線が続いており、「みちのくのアルプス」と呼ばれることもあります。写真中央付近の避難小屋が見えるピークが主峰の神室山です(そこまで登りました)。
The mountains in the background are certainly living up to their "Blue Ridge" name, as NS train 123 rolls out of Old Fort on the S Line between Asheville and Salisbury, NC.
I finally made it to Grassy Ridge! I have wanted to finish this hike for some time, but have been unable to for various reasons. From Carvers Gap to Grassy Ridge is about two and a half miles, with a lot of up hill and a lot of rocky trail. What a feeling of accomplishment and fatigue, and what a view, although it was a bit cloudy. www.paulmalcolmphotography.com
This is the most beautiful place on earth.
There are many such places. Every man, every woman, carries in heart and mind the image of the ideal place, the right place, the one true home, known or unknown, actual or visionary.

Te Wāhipounamu - South West New Zealand World Heritage Area includes many valleys that seldom get visited. While the falls in the lower valley are often viewed from the Haast Pass highway the upper Roaring Billy valley and hut usually see less than 10 people a year. We live in a hiking/tramping paradise.
Dawn at Dunnottar Castle, Stonehaven, Scotland. A bit of clambering was required to get this angle, but I think it was worth it.

I still have a ton of shots I haven't posted from my trip to the Grayson Highlands, much of that was spent in fog. I always like to get a trail shot of that and the rhododendron. Normally in such easy light one exposure will suffice, but here I used 3 for more contrast of the shadows, highlights and fog. This is the blue-blazed Wilburn Ridge Trail that splits off the Appalachian Trail and then rejoins after a mile over some rocky pinnacles.
