Crib goch ... the Red ridge. Snowdonia

Isle of Skye, Scotland

The view south from Sgurr na Banachdich on the Skye Cuillin. Most prominent are the peak of Sgurr Dearg with the Inn Pinn on the right, and Sgurr Alasdair on the left with a snow covered Great Stone Chute. A fantastic day with not a breath of wind on the ridge.

Sarrail Ridge is a 11.3-kilometer trail located near Kananaskis, Alberta. It is rated as difficult. The trail starts from the Upper Kananaskis Lake parking lot.

Scramble to Sarrail Ridge was tough, lots of people returned after enjoying the beauty of Rawson Lake from the bottom.

From Rawson Lake to Sarrail Ridge, still quite people at the first 2/3 scrambling, reaching to the steepest part, needed rope to climb, another portion of people gave up, returned… This final third is both physically and mentally challenging but entirely worth it for the view at the ridge! The view on top of the ridge was spectacular!

I read about this place last week as they're planning on carting out whatever resources are left and turn it into a landfill site. Seems an awful shame! The locals are fighting it but I don't know what stage it's at now.

Rawson Lake is stunning and totally worth the uphill battle before getting to the first lookout of the gorgeous lake. The photo was taken while climbing Sarrail Ridge, capturing the Rawson Lake and Rocky Mountains around it. My camera was hanging on my neck, dangling while climbing the mountain, but I could take photos at any rest stops to enjoy the beauties of the lake and mountains.

Met a guy who did not follow the “trail” path, but hiking along the mountains shown in my photo on his own, came back along the “trail” path, passed me quickly like running on the ground… But he stopped and talked to me for a bit. He told me, he had feeling he could hike that way, he was the ONLY one on that "path"... I was so surprised by his super climbing ability, also understood why some people missed in the mountains every year… Good luck for him!

Painters Ridge is a road in Connecticut. I can see how it got its name.

The great skyline of Monte Rosa Massif, showing here its most impressive flanks: the Southern one and the Eastern one. The big mountain stands above the Divide between the valleys of Sermenza river (the most important feeder of Sesia river) and Anza river, making the other rugged peaks look like small things.

Photo taken from the summit of Cima del Tiglio, a great viewpoint and beautiful hike.

A recent walk up along Hergest ridge along the border of England and Wales... Hergest ridge is an ancient walk way along the borders here and is now a popular place for visitors and trekking enthusiasts, and the main walking area was part of the old earth dyke built by King Offa many centuries ago.

Panorama made up from 9 photos merged together in Photoshop.

Great views of the Eastern Sierra Nevada abound along the Buttermilk Country Loop near Bishop. Photomerge of five handheld portrait shots.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments.

Sunset over Crib Goch ridge-line and the Snowdon massif from below the Glyder Fach summit on an evening trek up through the snow with Helen Iles on Sunday evening... Freezing but totally worth it for the views :-)

Image taken from a couple of timelapse sequences that I managed to get despite the bitter winds up there...

Beautiful sunrise along the great ridge from Mam tor, the normal gate shot was not really on today because so many other landscape togs have beaten me to it, so I did a detour and waited to most had disappeared then went back up to the ridge. A little tricky masking the bright sun but I just about pulled it off.

We had returned to St John's, NL for the end of our trip before the trip home. This evening shoot almost caught us off guard. Fog generally occurs in the morning but one just never knows when on the east coast. Only a very high ridge remained out of the fog and I stood on the side of the highway to get this shot. It led down to the coastal area where we were looking for our next subject; yes, a lighthouse.
