“There is another alphabet, whispering from every leaf, singing from every river, shimmering from every sky.”
― Dejan Stojanovic
Fuuuuk. I did it again. I thought that I can manage the processing with this film, but nooo. Positive slid for some reason too far..thats why white and dark line.. But in any case I like the image.
Now that the Winter rains are over, the flow over the beach is reducing and contains less plant tannin but is still a photographer's delight.
In taking this photo, I wanted to explore the purity of contrast between black and white in its most elementary form. I chose to work with simple, repetitive lines, like a visual breathing in space. My intention was to create a silent visual score, where each vertical element marks a pause, a time, like the beats of a metronome. I was seeking that sensation of calm and regularity that can be felt in a perfectly mastered space-time.

usually I am not a big fan of selective color, but that splash of blue on the tiles begged to stand out ... and I cannot resist the combination of blues with black

Little playtime on a Saturday morning while sucking down a cup of raktajino.
Images that started off as a photograph I either didn't like, or just wanted to play with. Throw in a few effects, add in some digital magic and I come up with something barely or not at all, resembling the original. Mostly just eye-candy, but I like them.
Hey, get rhythm when you get the blues
Come on, get rhythm when you get the blues
A jumpy rhythm makes you feel so fine
It'll shake all your trouble from your worried mind
Get rhythm when you get the blues...

i am rhythm
i am a pulse
sometimes simple
sometimes interlocked
sometimes syncopated
i am rhythm
sometimes moderato
sometimes allegro
sometimes simply at rest
i am rhythm
feel my beat
experience my motion
then take my hand
and come, dance with me
This one is for ARNEL aka LENAREH, Pinoy Kodakero's poet laureate. Perhaps what I appreciate more about Arnel is his ability to see the lighter side of life. I truly enjoy the simplicity of his view on life as expressed in many of his images. I have enjoyed his “can you guess” posts, his blue sky set, his food and sari-sari shots. His stream is full of treasures which can certainly make you smile. And Arnel is generous. He almost always never leave my stream without a few simple verses of encouragement, sometimes of humor. I feel honored to be his friend and godmother to his young son, Nico. And I am looking forward to meeting him and his family in person and spend some time exploring and shooting some of the beautiful places in the Philippines in October.
Sometimes life feels all too human and alone with endless problems and sorrows. Just a bunch of molecules and random events.
But every once in a while my eyes are opened to the stunning Otherness of Him who one poet decribed as the Glad Maker.
Rush captures it so well with the inimitable title Mystic Rhythms.
