Notice how the front of the building is not only a different color but also a different kind of siding than the rest of the building? A lot of cottages around Little Compton had this going on. Their old cedar shingles on three sides, and a freshly painted and re-sided facade. But all very tidy and classy looking, not like you see around the catskills where someone painted the front of the building and then got too lazy to finish. Does anyone know the story behind this vernacular?
