Detail of a loom on display at Slater Mill. I enjoyed the connection to another city (Manchester UK) that also has a rich history of textile manufacturing.

My collage is about Rhode Island's waters and how they can calm you during the toughest times. When I look at water, either at a beach, lake, breachway, or pond, I feel relieved from all my stress. Water has brought me a lot of comfort. It helps me forget everything that’s happening in the world and in my life. When I am on the beach with the wind blowing through my hair and the sand in my toes I feel like I’m home. This collage reminds me of all the good times I’ve enjoyed with my friends and family.

John Rhode . The Robthorne Mystery, The Abatross Crime Club Vol. 122, 1934. First published by Collins Crime Club 1934.

Twins, the face of a presumed suicide victim destroyed by the blast of a shotgun are ominous signals of mistaken identity for the experienced reader of detective novels. Major C. J. C. Street aka John Rhode aka Miles Burton, a prolific writer of these yarns and a prominent member of the illustrious English Detection Club, certainly knew this and one wonders what he is going to do with these elements. I'm not going to divulge it. Read for yourself. But be prepared to pay high prices for copies of Major Street's rather rare books.
