The TĂĽshaus mill is a water mill near Dorsten-Deuten in North Rhine-Westphalia. The mill is located on the southern edge of the forest area of Ăśfter Mark, where the water of the Hammbach River from Rhade is stowed to the mill pond.

The history of the TĂĽshaus-Hof, to which the mill belongs, can be traced back to 1382. The lords of Lembeck, who held the water law in their territory, leased a whale mill driven by the water of the Hammbach in 1615 to a certain Mr. Tuschhaus.

However, the mill was not the first building on this site, as it was built on older foundations. Sheep were mainly kept in the extensive heathland surrounding the area. The wool was rolled in the TĂĽshaus mill by a hammer mill and sold as felt material to the region's cloth makers for further processing. The billing books include customers from Wesel, Recklinghausen, Westerholt, DĂĽlmen, MĂĽnster and Dinxperlo.

The mill had already been increased in 1752 and expanded by a second mill wheel, so that since 1754 it also served the tenant Joan-Heinrich TĂĽshaus as an oil mill. The oil was obtained mainly from the rapeseed and linseed of the surrounding fields. In 1880 Albert Brosthaus was the Ă–lmĂĽller, followed by Dumpe and Schetter. The old plants of the oil mill were replaced in 1914 by a modern hydraulic oil mill, which pressed the oil out of the seeds with 350 atĂĽ. The operation of the oil mill was discontinued around 1948 for economic reasons.

The Rhine Gorge, or «Ruinaulta» in Romansh, is one of the most magnificent and diverse landscapes in the Alps. Created about 10,000 years ago by a rockslide, the gorge walls reach heights of up to 300 metres. In its depths, the Upper Rhine winds its way for 14 kilometres. It is fed from Lake Toma at the Oberalp Pass, the Rhine's official source. From there it is exactly 1,233 kilometres to its outlet in the North Sea near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. the Rhine Gorge is a gorge up to 350 meters deep in GraubĂĽnden with dramatically sloping white walls. The only continous traffic route through the gorge is the route of the Rhaetian Railway.

I was still climbing to the "Rheinquelle", the source of the Rhine, but couldn't resist a stop to take this photo. You can see the track I was climbing, and the road zigzagging up to the Oberalppass in the background. to the right you see the Rhine Valley and the village of Tschamut.

I love to zoom in on a photo like this and discover isolated houses, tunnels and even the Glacier Express.

Took this image during a storm and a high water level in the river Rhine. You are looking at the river itself. I have seen some amazing cloud formations here.

As we travel by Viking ship up the middle Rhine River, there were vineyards everywhere.

It amazed me how they planted them on such steep hillsides. There are reasons for that. They say by planting on hillsides the grapes get just the right angle of sun to produce much better crops. The hillsides are also terraced, so the grape pickers can get to them easier.

The patchwork of different colors of vineyards really fascinated me!

I hope you all had a very nice Thanksgiving. As usual, I ate way to much! :-)

River Rhine in Switserland flows into lake Bodensee. The delta is a beautiful area with wetlands, agriculture and a lot of rural roads. On sunny days many locals find their way to tiny beaches and harbors. Bregenz, 2020.
