In Lissabon wurden zum 40. Jahrestag der Nelkenrevolution auf der Praça do Comércio große, beeindruckende Fotos aufgestellt. Die dargestellten Ereignisse des 25. April 1974 sind genau an den Fotostandorten passiert. Die Bauten im Hintergrund existieren noch und so kann man sich das Geschehen gut vorstellen.
Die Passantin konnte sich sicher auch noch gut an die Ereignisse des Umsturzes erinnern. Und sie wird wissen, ob er tatsächlich so spontan und friedlich verlief, wie oft behauptet wird.
In Lisbon, on the 40th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, large, impressive photos were placed on the Praça do Comércio. The depicted events of April 25, 1974 happened exactly at the photo locations. The buildings in the background still exist and so one can easily imagine what happened.
The passerby could surely remember the events of the coup very well. And she will know if it really happened as spontaneously and peacefully as is often claimed.

Wolken, Wellen, Lichtreflexe – ab 1820 nutzen Maler*innen wie Caspar David Friedrich und Camille Corot neue, schnell trocknende Farben, um den Augenblick des Naturerlebens direkt in farbige Ölstudien, meist nur auf Papier, zu übersetzen.
Hier seht ihr ein typisches Equipment (unserer Kameraausrüstung gleich), das mit hinaus in die Natur genommen werden konnte.
Bisher dachte ich immer, das die neuen Tubenfarben erst den Impressionisten zur Verfügung gestanden haben.
Sie standen aber schon früher zur Verfügung und anders, als die Impressionisten, die gleich ein fertiges Bild in der Natur mit groben Strichen und ohne den Einsatz von Braun und Schwarz malten, haben die Maler zuvor noch fast "fotorealistisch", eben kleiner und fein (damit es schneller ins Papier eintrocknete), aber schnelle Vorstudien in der Natur gemalt, die nicht für das Publikum gedacht waren ...
Erstmals widmet sich in Deutschland eine Ausstellung der Ölstudie als größte Revolution in der Kunst des 19. Jahrhunderts.
Mit zahlreichen, noch nie öffentlich gezeigten Werken aus musealen und privaten europäischen Sammlungen präsentiert die von Autor und Kunsthistoriker Florian Illies kuratierte Schau im Kunstpalast (8. Februar bis 7. Mai) den wertschätzenden Blick von Künstler*innen auf die Natur im Zeitalter der Romantik ... natürlich exklusiv in Ddorf !!!
Mit am Meisten haben mich Himmelsstudien fasziniert, die so perfekt waren, dass ich sie hier in ein Foto einbauen könnte, ohne das es euch auffallen würde ...
zudem traf ich eine Malerin und geriet mir in in das "Himmel-Wolken- und (natürlich) Lichtthema ... sie sagte mir, dass sie bei aufwendigen Himmlen, die sie immer wieder nacharbeite, manchmal die Geduld haben müsse 4-5 Wochen zu warten, bis dass sie trocken sind ... (damit nutzt sie mit Sicherheit keine schnelltrocknenden Farben ...

For the Smile on Saturday challenge - Radio (May 2nd 2020)
.. yes, making the radio truly portable was/is to me the biggest radio revolution! This Saturday challenge made me think about how central radio is and has been to me! When I was small our radio was home-made by my dad, with vacuum tubes and a 'hair' tuning dial. It was big, static, and the speaker was in a big wooden cabinet (again home made!) We all gathered round to listen to our favourite programmes ... together!
My big 'revolution' came when I was in my teens, and bought my own transistor radio. I could listen in my bedroom while doing my homework - I could tune to stations all over Europe (and discovered Bela Bartok) - and with my sister we could do the Sunday washing up, and listen to "Pick of the Pops" ... shutting the door so as not to annoy our parents, and dance and sing as we cleaned the dishes!
Of course that is all 'old hat' now! I am currently listening to London-based "Jazz FM" via WiFi using my iPod Touch. We have radio in the car, and of course the small portable radios in the photograph! FM, MW, DAB and all pocket sized with speakers or earphones! And radio is streamed over the internet, accessed through our Satellite receiver ... so many ways to saturate ourselves with news or music, comedy or documentary.
Personally I still want simple, portable FM radio. We have power cuts regularly - and battery-operated FM is what works then!

Caía la tarde en la marisma y la orilla del estero ya estaba en sombra. Este correlimos menudo ( Calidris minuta) venia de bañarse en la zona soleada. La poca luz de la orilla me obligaba a disparar con mucho menos velocidad de obturación para poder retratarlo pero las sacudidas son increíblemente rápidas, incluso para buenas condiciones de luz. El resultado me pareció curioso.

Evening was falling on the marsh and the shore of the estuary was already in shadow. This little stint (Calidris minuta) came from bathing in the sunny area. The low light on the shore forced me to shoot with a much slower shutter speed in order to capture it, but the shake is incredibly fast, even for good lighting conditions. The result seemed curious to me.
