Coyote Hills Regional Park

Timber Rattlesnake in situ. I guessed the focal distance, set the timer, and slowly lowered my camera about 8 inches from this Timber Rattlesnake's nose, to get this photo. She never moved.

One of 2 found today, this one had more color than the hatchling I found Wednesday which I posted along side this one.

Created in 1966 and built on a shelf high above the town of Morzine at a height of 1,800 metres, with some 8 metres of snow each year, Avoriaz is in the centre of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Its very modern architecture is in direct contrast to local transportation, as cars are banned and sleds, snowcats or horse-drawn sleighs are the only forms of transport allowed.

Meaning ‘The lake by the dairy pastures’, and situated towards the head of the valley of the River Cocker, Buttermere is 1.24 miles (2 km) long, 620 yards (570 m) wide, 75 feet (23 m) deep and 329 feet (100m) above sea level. There is a footpath running round the perimeter of the lake which is about 4.5 miles (7.2km) long, and provides very popular walks to the summits of Haystacks and Red Pike.

Short trip to Lee Vining area on the East side of the Sierras. I spotted this Towhee foraging on the ground near this stump. From the way he was moving I suspected he would jump on the stump. I waited, then he did it, and I got a few shots as he walked across the stump. His top was really full and vibrant. Handsomest GT Towhee dude I had ever seen, so I'm sure he turned the heads of a number of lady GT Towhees.

DoodlewashJuly2026 Prompts 13-Spicy, 14-Edible, 16-Pickle.

Did you know many edible flowers can be pickled? Spicy nasturtiums, magnolias, alliums, daylilies, and chive blossoms are among the ones that work especially well for this process.

Little Red Riding Hood

I had to wait for clouds for this shot to get rid of the dappled light.

A fabulous little beach in Cornwall, with the Minnack Theatre on the cliffs one side and this beautiful view the other.... I was so lucky with the light and tides for this Sunrise
