The island of Mykonos spans an area of 85.5 square kilometres (33.0 sq mi) and rises to an elevation of 341 metres (1,119 feet) at its highest point. It is situated 150 kilometres (93 miles) east of Athens in the Aegean Sea. The island features no rivers, but numerous seasonal streams two of which have been converted into reservoirs.

The island is composed mostly of granite and the terrain is very rocky with many areas eroded by the strong winds. High quality clay and baryte, which is a mineral used as a lubricant in oil drilling, were mined on the eastern side of Mykonos until the late 1900s.

It produces 4,500 cubic metres (160,000 cu ft) of water daily, by reverse osmosis of sea water in order to help meet the needs of its population and visitors.

The island has a population of nearly 12,500, most of whom live in the main town of Chora.

Apparently the island has over 300 days of sunshine each year, when this picture was taken it was raining, heavily!

It often happens that as soon as we do a choice we immediatly would like to go back and change that decision...

No big icons please... :)

if i have money and walls,i wish i can do this every day..

With a reversing ring adapter and SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4. MFD for this set up.

I know the adapter (mine is flush to the camera) is meant to work as a macro, but with this focal length...I still like the effect it produces.

P.S. See previous post for a more conventional used of the adapter with a 28mm lens.

My favourite method in preparing rib eye.

There is NO Photo Manipulation here, and anyone can do this. Just put some colors on your monitor and position a glass of water in front of it. You might notice at the top of the glass it's showing the colors behind, but the water reverses them. Could lead to some tricky magical work, Lol.

Here is a fine scene illustrating an everyday scene, long since lost. The location is Hirst Platform on the Ashington Colliery system, At the platforms are two sets of stock are miners "Paddy" trains, both have a clerestory coach in their make up, two more look abandoned on a siding. A man is standing by the end of the train, perhaps the loco and brake near the signal box are about to reverse in and couple. Just behind the moving train another bloke is crossing the track, his bicycle hoisted on his shoulder. The background is dominated by an overhead cable bucket way, an elaborate "bridge" protects the railway from falling debris, also on the horizon several sets of open wagons wait to be filled. Hirst Platform closed 16/05/1966.

Peter left several hundred unidentified negatives with nothing in the way of data on a variety of subjects vehicles, ships, planes, canals, and railways (mainly Industrial) This and many others are in the "misc" tin in an envelope marked "D" which I assume means diesel.

Any help on location & date would be welcome.

An empty grain train twists through some of the many reverse curves in this area as the line attempts to follow the East River on the way to Bluefield. The mile marker indicates we are 349 miles west of Norfolk.

Thanks for all the support from you guys. One thing is for sure, we are all in this together and can really help each out when we combine our knowledge to combat internet photo thieves!

One interesting suggestion I received yesterday was from Susan. She referred me to a site TinEye Reverse Image Search. All you have to do is put in the url address of any image you are concerned about, and it will reverse look up all the sites where your image has appeared on the web. I tried it with a couple of mine and came up with hits on some and misses on others that I knew had been posted out on the web (without my permission). So, I guess this is a "hit or miss" tool - but certainly another weapon in the arsenal of tricks to try and catch the thieves!

This is another shot from my Walk in the Woods. Over the next few days, I am going to post a variety of the shots I took on Saturday when I spent several hours enjoying the spring weather in Turner's Creek Park.

Have a great week!

Texture found here - thanks Terry!
