A neat small town grocery store that reuses a vintage Kroger store. The interior has obviously been remodeled at some point, but I thought the Butcher Shop decor was unique.

Here is a 1979 photo of the store when it was a Kroger vintageaerial.com/photos/indiana/madison/1979/DMA/14/15

Don't know what to do with your old handbags ? Make fun and colored plant holders with them with this "Recycle It Yourself" idea ! Hang the handles from hooks on a wall, on a fence or dangle them from tree branches and your garden will be unique !

it's the ultimate end result of repurposing and mixed reuse. It's transformed from a power plant built in the 1940s to a chic shopping mall and mixed-use complex. I wanted to see this place, since the company I worked for built the four boilers; for a time, they were the largest in Europe. The stack to the left holds an elevator called Lift 109, that rises 109 meters to a viewing platform at the top. The structure was made with nearly six million bricks, nearly a third of which had to be replaced during refurbishment – and hand made to match the originals.

Medieval classical reception in it's purest form, spolia. Much of the east end of the Pisa Duomo is built from roman temples and public buildings.

Happy Earth Day, ya'll

Reuse more, waste less.

Keep them bushes tidy

and above all don't litter!

Every little bit helps :)

Sewn by my mom, per my request (when two years ago I was less crafty than now). Most fabrics were salvaged, she hadn't bought a single thing for making it. She drew the buildings, though. (Feb. 21st 2009)

Your comments and faves are greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Whistling Kite - has a nest and mate nearby

Scientific Name: Haliastur sphenurus

Description: The Whistling Kite is a medium-sized raptor (bird of prey) with a shaggy appearance. It has a light brown head and underparts, with pale streaks, and dark sandy-brown wings with paler undersides. The underwings have a characteristic pale 'M' shape when open. The head and body are relatively narrow and the tail is rounded. The wings are long and well-rounded, with a wingspan of 120 cm to 145 cm. The sexes are similar, but the females are larger. Yong birds are slightly darker above, with paler streaking on head and underbody. They are often seen near water or around farms, soaring in a lazy circling flight pattern.

Similar species: Several other raptors may be confused with the Whistling Kite, including the Little Eagle, Hieraaetus morphnoides, other kites and harriers. These can only be separated by factors such as flight silhouette and style and the overall body shape.

Distribution: The Whistling Kite is widespread over mainland Australia but uncommon in Tasmania, and is also found in New Guinea, the Solomons and New Caledonia.

Habitat: The Whistling Kite is found in woodlands, open country and particularly wetlands. It is also common around farmland, vineyards and anywhere where carrion (dead animals) can be found (e.g. abattoirs, rubbish dumps and roadsides). Prefers tall trees for nesting.

Feeding: Whistling Kites soar above the ground, trees and water to search for prey such as carrion (dead animals) and small live animals such as mammals, birds, fish and insects.

Breeding: The Whistling Kite appears to be monogamous, with some breeding pairs remaining in a territory throughout the year and pairs actively defend the area around a nest. The bulky nest platform is built of sticks in a tall tree and may be reused, growing larger over time. Both sexes build the nest and incubate the eggs (the female does most of the incubation however) and may breed two or three times a year. The young stay with the parents after fledging for about six to eight weeks.

Calls: Loud descending whistle: 'teee-ti-ti'.

Minimum Size: 50cm

Maximum Size: 60cm

Average size: 55cm

Average weight: 770g

Breeding season: July to January in south; March to October in north.

Clutch Size: One to three, usually two.

Incubation: 38 days

Nestling Period: 46 days

The old Gander Mountain / Gander Mountain Outlet Store on Summit Drive has finally found reuse! It is now PlayTime family fun center. Here is a shot of how the building looked back in early 2015... www.flickr.com/photos/fanofretail/16980416460

in order to renew the "old" glassfacade of the bauhaus in Dessau in 1976 it was decided to tear it down and to dump it in a wasteyard in order to fulfill the plan target of scrap metal... the then installed new windows didn´t survive the end of the last century (sic). luckuly in 2001 there were several old frames - about 120 metres - found in some gardens of Dessau and stored at the bauhaus. with those windows this temporarily bungalow was built in 2015 and it now houses a workshop for different activities

“Grumman space shuttle orbiter concept with external hydrogen tands on a reusable booster.”

Yep, that’s how it’s written. And not a mention that it’s the “H33” Boeing/Grumman concept. No caption at all would’ve been a marked improvement.

Beautiful work, although the Floridian peninsula seems to be suffering from tectonically induced Peyronie's disease.

Possibly the work of Craig Kavafes? Or one of the other Grumman artists from that time...Bud Parke, Jim Rodriguez? Somebody else? Maybe a Boeing artist? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I want to drink from the beer maker's glass like before.

The new office is more or less done.

So for the recycle reuse theme (WAH) I give you:

The chair - i got 'donated' this by my parents as a student; done up for us as a pressie by my in laws

The table - bought by us last weekend, specifically for the room, from a local junk shop; a lovely slightly warped old thing. But I am in love with it!

The filing cabinet - rescued from being chucked out many years ago.

And you can just see the tops of two lenses - one (the 55-200) bought from e bay; the other (18-55) sent to me from a Flickr mate in Canada when my old one broke (you know who you are!). It was 'gathering dust'.

I am a firm believer in mending, reusing, recycling or re selling.

I hate this disposable society where everything time expires then has to be thrown away.

My wonderful SIL created gift bags this year and mailed them early with requests to “open” them!! They are sewn from quilt squares and the back side is red felt— isn’t she clever? She even had a theme going— books and reading!!

This is a good way of reusing these chairs as Pharmacy chairs. Gave me good nostalgia since I used to eat at this Kmart's KCafe a lot when I was younger until they closed in 2010.
