Don't think I've bought any new gift wrapping decorations for a long time (or paper, come to think of it!). Any product that comes with pretty ribbons or tape, especially ready-tied bows, I keep to be re-used.

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.
On Earth Day 2016, the landmark Paris Agreement was signed by the United States, China, and some 120 other countries. This signing satisfied a key requirement for the entry into force of the historic draft climate protection treaty adopted by consensus of the 195 nations present at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris.

In this area, Tramlink runs on the former Addiscombe Line, which was part of National Rail but was closed in 1983. The former station building still stands here, though it is disused and closed to the public.

For "Looking close... on Friday!" ; theme : "reusable or recycled".
This piece was made from discarded color/shape studies from a client identity job. I usually generate a lot of quick little studies which leaves me with a lot of unused vectors.
I'm a firm believer in re-using the almost forgotten in new ways.

Originally built in 1929 as the Medinah Athletic Club, a luxury men's club for members of the Shrine organization, the club fell victim to the stock-market crash and was forced to close its doors in 1934. InterContinental Hotels bought the property in 1988, and immediately began renovations. A quarter of a billion dollars and 12 years later, this truly magnificent hotel was re-introduced to Chicago.
Restoration work was guided by the original athletic club's 1930 yearbook, the SCIMITAR, donated by a club member. Its black-and-white photographs were used to duplicate and restore entire rooms, right down to the detailing in draperies, carpets and murals. Today, each floor of the hotel represents a myriad of cultures and eras. The public areas available for viewing provide a glimpse of the rich history of the building.

One of the pieces at a special exhibit of the work of Shih Chieh Huang, an artist based out of Taipei. He takes objects like discarded plastic bags, old computer fans and motion detectors to create pieces that move and "breathe" in accordance with movement around them.
