Retrieving new R69S at BMW factory, Munich, 1964?

Retrieved from 2 local resale shops,

all in remarkably nice condition considering their age.

1. M&S Shillman doll - Maxi Mod or Mini Mod?

She is hollow and does not have the T&T waist ...

could that mean that she's an early version ?? ... '60s?/'70s?

Her ethnic costume is unfamiliar to me. It's bodice is a bit over-sized and seems made to fit some differently proportioned doll,

but it's nicely made so I will tailor it to fit.

2. Ken's sweater = 'Twice as Nice' reversible fashions - 1985

- Mattel #2309-4891

3. Striped Dress with belt =

Feelings Are Fine

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Feelings are fine

In every game of life

Rain come and sunshine

For it you must strife

Love is like this too

In all its relives

So much to give and do

Inside its retrieves

Lonely hearts walking

Spinning wheels of time

So much nonsense talking

Downfall and its prime

Easygoing to nowhere

Only to stand and wait

Filling up lonely atmosphere

In every going debate

Song of hearts making

Giving an hour s touch

Anything in its waking

With every small and lots

Step by step here thru

All is revising on

What you and I should do

Before these feeling are gone

One of a series of photos following a friend whilst shooting / hunting on farmland in Cornwall, England.

While cruzing the Blvd. a motorscooter kop's Remington 870 Pump action pistol grip Shotgun disengaged from the locking mechanism on the bikes rack and fell into the street in the area of Bronson Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard in LAPD’s Southwest Division. The gun was picked up by a bystander and he took off running with it and a large LAPD search and destroy mission ensued .... I mean a large search ensued and suspect was later caught and the shotgun retrieved.

Skandi Carla berthed at Pocra Quay, what a beauty, first time I've seen her in the harbour , I love it when I can get up close to these magnificent vessels.

Skandi Carla is one of Fugro’s purpose-designed and built ROV survey, IRM and construction support vessels. Delivered in 2001, it is a diesel-electric, DP2 vessel equipped with advanced DGPS, USBL acoustic system and a Seapath 200. A moon pool allows work class ROVs to be launched safely and the large main deck is available for exclusive client use.

One of the distinguishing features of the vessel are the three optional mezzanine decks. These 4.8 m x 14 m platforms can be used for the deployment of a second work class ROV system, or other client equipment.

Skandi Carla is tted with a heave compensated Hydramarine 50T/15m knuckle boom deck crane with optimum deployment and recovery speeds at depths down to 3,000 metres. The combination of knuckle boom design and full active heave compensation has proven to provide ideal construction support capability.

The primary work class ROV - FCV 3087C is deployed through the moon pool using a custom-built Rolls-Royce Launch & Recovery System (LARS) designed to minimise the impact of vessel motion, thus extending the window within which the vehicle can be deployed. The 5.4 m x 5.5 m moon pool is enclosed in a large hanger which, with adjoining workshops and stores areas, provides a safe and protected environment for the maintenance of the vehicle. The winch for the LARS provides heave compensated, high speed deployment and recovery of the vehicle in water depths down to 3,000 metres.

Norway's west coast maritime cluster has again demonstrated its technological skills and business verve through the delivery of a complex, diesel-electric offshore support vessel equipped to carry out deepwater subsea inspection and construction tasks. Ordered from Aukra Industrier by local operator District Offshore (DOF), the 275-ft. (84-m) Skandi Carla ranks among the world's most sophisticated ships designed for ROV(remote-operated vehicle) deployment. The powerful, dynamic-positioning vessel entered an immediate five-year charter assignment to Aberdeen-based survey specialist Fugro-UDI, to whose requirements she has been customized.

She is considered equally well suited to the harsh environment of the North Sea as to the so-called Golden Triangle development areas of West Africa, Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico, where operations in extreme water depths are the norm. ROV-based work can be carried out by the new vessel at depths as great as 3,000 m.

Built to a design developed by the Norwegian consultancy Marin Teknikk (MT), the versatile Skandi Carla has integrated, protected moonpool for ROV operations, just forward of midships, complemented by an open deck area of 640-sq. m. The deck has been strengthened for a 5-t/sq. m. loading, with a total carrying capacity of 2,000-tons, and is plumbed by a 50-ton, heave-compensated Hydramarine crane stooled on the starboard side.

The main, work-class ROV is dispatched and retrieved through the moonpool using a custom-designed launch and recovery system (LARS). A moveable mezzanine deck arranged in the after part of the ship provides a platform that can be used for a second ROV - or for trenching equipment. The arrangements permit two ROVs to be deployed simultaneously, with the second unit put overboard to starboard by way of the Hydramarine crane. Facilities are in place on deck to support clients' trenching, pipeline and cable deployment spreads.

Scope for undertaking unbroken, longer work assignments is enhanced by the foreship helideck, strengthened to receive a Super Puma-type aircraft, and enabling personnel to be changed out at sea. In terms of bunker capacity relative to the fuel consumption profile, the ship has an endurance of around 40 days.

Characteristic of such vessels, Skandi Carla has a large accommodation capacity for up to 80 persons in single-berth and two-berth cabins, so that charterers' own technical specialists can be carried in addition to the vessel's regular complement. Her power and propulsion plant is based on four eight-cylinder engines of the Caterpillar 3600-series, a popular marquee among Norwegian operators yield. The 'Big Cats' serve as the prime movers in the 2,475-kV main gensets.

Diesel-electric has become the mode of choice for many Norwegian supply and support vessel owners in the latest period of fleet investment, through the recognition of benefits with regard to overall operating performance in terms of flexibility and full-cycle economy. The location of the diesel-alternator aggregates only about one-third aft in Skandi Carla is also indicative of the increased ship design and layout possibilities conferred by a diesel-electric system. Furthermore, its adoption denotes a perception of environmental benefits, in terms not only of reduced exhaust emissions but also as concerns onboard noise and vibration levels. In fact, the vessel's environmental attributes as a whole have been recognized in the award of the Clean class notation by Det Norske Veritas.

The propulsion, maneuvering and station-keeping devices which form the main electrical energy consumers are the two 2,200-kW main thrusters, of contra-rotating azimuth type, plus two 1,000-kW bow tunnel thrusters and adjacent, retractable unit of 1,000-kW. ABB had total responsibility for the ship's electrotechnical systems, engineering and installation.

A Simrad SDP21 system from Kongsberg ensures the precise dynamic positioning critical to the safe and efficient performance of subsea assignments, as well for operations alongside structures. The nature of the outfit is such that it meets the Norwegian Maritime Directorate's Class II requirements for DP. The propulsion arrangements give a free-running speed of 14 knots.

Aukra undertook the District Offshore build project on the basis of a delivery time of less than 10 months, demonstrating the depth of individual capability within the Aker Yards group. Production scheduling and work quality, key competitive factors in Aukra's target markets, benefit considerably from the full weather protection afforded by the yard's facilities near Molde. Skandi Carla has been taken under the wing of DOF Management, which was already familiar with the Aker build philosophy and delivery performance as a result of earlier projects at the group's other Norwegian yards, namely Aker Brattvaag, Langsten Slip and Soviknes Verft.

Shetland’s pelagic trawler Altaire LK429 steaming along at 16kts, back home after conducting their 2nd mackerel egg survey this year (2016). This was carried out for Marine Scotland, the same survey was carried out last month (March) and both surveys were covering the same area, carrying out on average 100 drops of the egg catching machinery plant which is lowered to a maximum depth of 200m then immediately winched back up. The eggs are retrieved, counted and documented at each station. 100 stations were done and located from 20 miles NW of the Butt of Lewis all the way down to just SW of the Porcupine Bank, 220 mile west of SW Ireland, the water depths ranging from 100m inshore, out over the deep edge into depths of 4000m. The Altaire seen here passing Whalsay heading north to Collafirth pier where the vessel will be laid up until the next mackerel egg survey. The Altaire was built and launched by Norways, Havyard Solstrand AS yard in October 2004, lenghth of the vessel is 76.4m long and 15m beam.

Wotancraft's Traveler's Notebook and City Explorer Camera Bag Review - Part 2

I've been using Wotancraft's Ranger bag for 25 days and it is only now suitable to give you this review from my personal experience. My Ranger was with me all the time during my business trip to Taipei and Shanghai, as well as daily uses after I came back to Hong Kong, in rainy days, hiking and beach side BBQ, etc.

The soul behind Wotancraft is James, whom started researching about 5 years ago to create a camera bag he would use. I had a great time visiting James and chatted about his creation for about an hour. The name and logo of the company bears a resemblance of the Warcraft role-playing game logo, but James never knew about it when he named the company. Wotancraft means in every sense a desire to achieve perfection in craftsmanship. "Wotan" the old high German form of "Odin", is a major god in Norse mythology who is associated with battle, victory, wisdom and magic. James would like his company to be a powerful one almost achieving a mythical status through highest possible quality standard. He believes careful craftsmanship is better than mass production. Let's see how much details are being put in this US$449 all purpose bag.

Ranger's distressed and nomadic look is not only defined by its unique navy grey canvas and dark brown leather mix, but also the carefully aging processes done to the material. For example, to achieve the effect, the canvas was washed, wrinkled, brushed and stained before a final wax coating was put on it. Although this aging thing sounds a bit superficial, but the minute you start to use it, you literally skip the honeymoon period trying to use the bag carefully, it feels like you've been using it for a while and it is part of you. I mean it, not to worry a bit about scratches on leather, nor to spend time intentionally distressing it heavily in order to feel a personal ownership.

The look is just one of the many carefully planned features of a Ranger. A lot of the satchels you see in the market have those two straps coming down from the top over the flap, they are there mostly for decorative purpose and not designed to function. Ranger's straps are there because James wanted to solve one problem, to carry a jacket when you don't have an extra hand. I'm sure many of you have the same problem, the places we go to take photos can have huge temperature differences, nobody wants to carry a larger volume bag just to take care of the jacket. These straps became very handy because they are extra long yet adjustable, I could tie my scarf or slide my leather jacket beneath them with zero efforts during business trips. On rainy days, I also carry a retractable umbrella like that for quick access.

Two additional straps fixed to the bottom of Ranger can also be used to carry your jacket or tripod.

Let's talk about external pockets. There are two side pockets for small stuffs, I wish they were big enough to put my iPhone though. The two front pockets are large enough for small cameras like my Natura Classica or Olympus EP-3 with pancake lens. One problem with these front pockets is that there is no flap to secure the contents inside, I might have to stitch a leather flap with snaps by myself someday so that I can feel safer to put camera or keychains in them. This is obviously a point for improvement.

Behind the front pockets is a zip pocket large enough to put your iPad, this became my quick access pocket to important things like my Traveler's Notebook. Now these three pockets are behind the bag's leather flap, but you don't need to unfasten the snaps to access them, just quickly pull over the flap to reveal and retrieve, very handy and speedy!

Gear protection. Heavily inspired by WWII aesthetics, Wotancraft highlights Ranger with aluminum buckles and brass snaps on the outside, but gets serious with gear protection on the inside. The removable MK.I pouch, using the same material as military hovercraft's air cushion on the surface, sealed by YKK water-repellent zipper, is almost 100% waterproof. According to James, he is planning a MK.II version which is completely seamless with even better waterproof features. Well, waterproofing is not what I'm looking for, but you can see how dedicated he is to the details.

On both the MK.I pouch and the external bag, there are hidden velcros. They are there to make sure your MK.I pouch is fixed firmly inside the bag, but when they are not needed, the velcros are hidden to prevent scratching on your equipments. The inside of MK.I pouch is made from high density foam covered with very smooth micro fiber cloth, making camera retrieval a low friction effort in addition to the heavy duty protection. Four dividers are provided so that you can create your own suitable compartments. I can put 3 cameras inside: Canon F1 with 85mm f1.2 lens, Voigtlander R4A with Nokton 35mm f1.2 lens, Olympus EP-3 with 12mm f2.0 lens.

So literally you have 3 layers of protections. Waterproof anti-shock MK.I, external waxed canvas bag with zipper and the leather flap. For my daily use, I actually don't need the MK.I pouch, I usually put a slimmer Artisan & Artist inner pouch to carry 1 camera, the Ranger immediately shrinks into a transit friendly casual bag.

Here's some more smart features of the Ranger. For a large bag like this, it takes time to unzip all the way and resistance at the two corners is inevitable. If you are not a zipper person like me, you can leave the canvas cover half zipped half opened, this can be achieved by folding the cover in half, it snaps in place by itself because of the built in magnets, it makes cameras accessible yet secure inside, very smart design. If you are an insecure person and always want to zip up everything, speedy access is still possible because there is a small leather tab you can leave dangling outside, with just one quick pull of the tab, both zipper heads fly open in split seconds! James nailed it, satisfying men's desire to access their tools with speed, imagine this design on a pair of jeans :)

A final note on features. There is a laptop compartment inside the canvas bag, suitable for my 13" Macbook Air or 15" models. There are small pockets for pen and accessories sitting behind the laptop compartment as well, although I don't use them that much.

I have to mention the weight, which is important to photographers. My Saddleback briefcase medium size is a heavy 2.95 kg monster, I love the bag but I just can't use it to carry cameras, it is killing my shoulders and spine. Wotancraft's Ranger is 1.72 kg without the MK.I pouch (which is 0.52 kg by itself). The reason why it is slightly heavier than a typical canvas bag is that wax was not only coated but actually soaked thoroughly into the canvas, you can see I had no hesitation to leave my Ranger on a wet football field in one of the photos. The softness of cushioned canvas also makes it more comfortable to body than hard thick leather used on the Saddleback briefcase (well I know, Saddleback's was never designed for photographers anyway).

The shoulder strap. Beautiful piece of craftsmanship, it feels very comfortable hanging down the shoulder or diagonally crossing the body. Even though its length is adjustable, I still found it a bit too long coz I like to carry weight close to my center of gravity (I'm 5'8" last time I checked 20 years ago). So I did a little modification to suit my need. There are two small built in D-rings near each end of the shoulder pad, I stitched safety hooks on them with scrap leather, giving me an option to shorten or quick releasing the strap in 5 possible lengths. Now I can carry my Ranger comfortably as a messenger bag or as a clutch bag.

If you are new to Wontancraft's Ranger, I must remind you to use sand paper to blunt the buckle pins coz they are very sharp. I also found that some of the leather edge finishing paint may fall off, I have no problem with that because it helps to give the distressed look I like about Ranger. In any case, Wotancraft is serious about quality, according to Wotancraft and both distributors I know (one from Hong Kong (Annie Barton), one from Netherlands (Vintage 217)), they are fully committed to give Wotancraft users complete satisfaction, just shoot them an email if you need support, they are all decent and nice people as far as I know. Again, Wotancraft is not a corporation but just a few artisans behind doing what they enjoy most, you can expect friendly services and dedication to details. I would give Ranger a 9.5 out of 10 score as a cool stylish and function rich camera/casual bag.

During my discussion with James in their Taipei showroom, he told me that he is designing a future add-on to the Ranger bag, a strap to convert Ranger into a backpack! I need that James! Especially in a long day I need it to be a backpack, then it is perfect!

A week ago, Steve Huff reviewed Wotancraft's City Explorer Paratrooper camera bag, check out his video below.

My dog was retrieving sticks from a lake. I just happened to capture this very odd shot, in which he just grabbed the stick in what looks to be a very uncomfortable position. He didn't seem phased by it in real life! I love the drops falling from his teeth. I also am amazed at the power in those jaws, knowing his true sweet personality.

[12:56] Jackson Fisher begins to stroll down the street and stops when he notices the neko's irregular demeanor. "You alright?"

[12:57] Ashur Kentoku blinks and puffs her whiskers out....she watched the man warily..."Uh, I I I fuh fine," she stammers....

[12:59] Jackson Fisher narrows his eyes as she trips about in her words. He steps a bit closer and notices her damaged eyes. "What the hell happened to you?"

[13:00] Ashur Kentoku backs into the seat, raising her paws defensively "Nothing," she mews..."Juh just dun...I I I dun duh do nuh nothing!"

[13:03] Jackson Fisher raises his right hand consolingly, realizing her face is horribly scarred. He puts two and two together and ponders how severe her mental trauma is. "I'm not going to hurt you ... understand?"

[13:05] Ashur Kentoku blinks, trying to clear the fuzziness from her mind, her eyes trying to focus....she nods, knowing this is something people like to see....

[13:08] You: She darts her eyes sideways, looking for an evenue of escape if she needed it...

[13:09] Mitz Xi: fuck the police...

[13:10] Jackson Fisher stops a moment to agree.

[13:10] Jackson Fisher realizes her ability to remain calm. Recognizable features of feline instincts are apparent. He reaches into his pocket and digs around. "Wait ... Stay ... here." He stretches out his words.

[13:11] Ashur Kentoku's ears lay flat and her eyes go big as she sees the movement to the pocket...she tenses and readies to spring away as best she can.....

[13:12] Mitz Xi: *hisssss* as she looks at Chi

[13:12] Ashur Kentoku sniffs the air and smells Mitz's scent....she mews, hoping to attract her attention...

[13:12] Mitz Xi: Ashy?

[13:13] Shilandar Deledda blows Mitz a kiss and shakes his head.

[13:13] Mitz Xi: "you must love pain Chi... is that your fetish... seeing how much I can hurt you?"

[13:14] Jackson Fisher doesn't panic. Struggling as he resists the urge to scramble and shout 'No!' Instead, he retrieves the small ball of catnip he found lying in the snake pit a few years back. He put it in a glass case, because it was the first he'd ever seen of a neko. He gently rolls it out infront of her.

[13:14] Shilandar Deledda: That depends.... is yours ticking me off until I rip your limbs off? You seem to like getting shoved against walls by us men rather frequently.

[13:14] Ashur Kentoku looks relieved as she hears Mitz's voice...she hopes its not her SERAPHIM incarnation speaking....she peers with unfocused eyes at the Mitz shape, then back at the man, hoping he wouldn’t try anything with her now that other were near....she sniffs at the scent of nip, then blinks at what the man holds out...

[13:15] Mitz Xi: you really are lookin for an ass kicking Chi...

[13:15] You: "Whuh wassat?" she mews, pointing with a paw....

[13:15] Shilandar Deledda: Well I never did hate ya, Mitz. Just think you're a pest.

[13:16] Jackson Fisher shakes his head. "I have no idea, but you like it. You like it a lot."

[13:16] Mitz Xi: me? a pest... have you looked in the mirror lately?

[13:16] Shilandar Deledda shrugs, circling around her. "Last I checked I"m not a pest, I'm an ass. But that's just what people tell me, anyway."

[13:17] Mitz Xi sniffs the air as she picks up catnip.. her eyes wide.. pupils dialate as she snarls.. and whirls around....

[13:17] Ashur Kentoku tilts her head and steps closer to the man, attracted by the strong scent of nip....

[13:17] Mitz Xi: catnip?

[13:17] Mitz Xi: where's mine?

[13:17] Jackson Fisher curses under his breath. "Uh, yeah."

[13:18] Jackson Fisher wipes a bit of sweat off his forehead. "I only had one."

[13:18] Mitz Xi: what type of man walks about with catnip in his pocket?

[13:18] Ashur Kentoku shivers as her senses cloud over, her damaged brain focusing on the catnip strongly now....

[13:18] Shilandar Deledda blinks at Mitz's words and pulls out a bag of synthnip, flicking it open with a thumb to let the scent carry.

[13:18] Mitz Xi: well besides... CHI

[13:19] Shilandar Deledda: Oh, sorry Mitz. Thought you were asking for some.

[13:19] Jackson Fisher shakes his head. "It's a long story." He grins for a moment, and tips his fedora over his eyes. "I don't mean to harm her."

[13:20] Ashur Kentoku's ears perk at the sudden stench of synthnip, her pupils dilating...she turns her gaze to Chi and growls, her heart starting to beat faster....the scent pushed at what remained of her control....

[13:20] Mitz Xi: Chi... are you trying to piss me off? now.. give me the nip

[13:21] Shilandar Deledda glanced at her a moment, tilting his head to one side and making sure he was just out of Mitz's lunging range. "Ask nicely." he made no attempt to hide the nip, letting the aroma of the synthetic version of the plant float through the air.

[13:22] Mitz Xi lets out a wild snarl from her lips as they curl, her tiny nose crinkles

[13:22] Mitz Xi moves closer as she jumping about trying to get the nip now.. she hated being short...

[13:24] Mitz Xi pauses then shoves back from Chi... she snarls again her fangs showing... (and he vanished on me taking the damn nip with him.. fucker!)

[13:24] Ashur Kentoku shuddered again and whined, obvious to anyone nearbye....she panted slightly and her claws extended, the too-strong scent of the synth nip driving her to the point of frenzy, her damaged brain misfiring some....

[13:25] Jackson Fisher scowls at the change in the situation. "Damn it all." - he mumbles. He reaches into his suit jacket slowly to retrieve the magazine of low velocity tranquilizer rounds in his pocket. He clandestinely presses the ejector button on his right .45 with his left hand. The magazine snaps loose, and Jackson remains perfectly still so as not to jar it loosen it too much from the handgun.

[13:26] Ashur Kentoku crouches low, her eyes unfocused but locked on Chi....not noticing Jacksons' intent....

[13:27] Mitz Xi: No.. this is what the fucking trainers used on me! I am not their puppet... I .. am... six.. one.. three

[13:28] Shilandar Deledda blinks as he notices something on the front of Mitz's shirt and lets a wicked little smirk show, dropping his hand to give Mitz the nip. He opened his hand and held it out, pouring the powder into his palm. "Here ya go, Mitzy." His eyes glanced over towards Ashur, frowning somewhat. "Your friend is going a little crazy, though."

[13:29] Mitz Xi looks at the nip in his hand.. she frown.. her feline urges wanting it.. her mind screaming no... she paces now like a caged beast back and forth...

[13:32] Jackson Fisher would have no problem letting the two cats tear the man apart. He would love to see his intestines spilled on the streets, but wouldn't take a shot at him in public so soon.

[13:32] Shilandar Deledda continues holding the hand out and waits, watching her pace. He snapped out a hand towards her shirt though, slowly looping a finger in the chain so as to yank it lightly. "Mitz, I'm not interested in trying to tame you, you ought to know that."

[13:33] Ashur Kentoku growls again, trying to sort the origin of the scent from Mitz or Chi, her vision not making enough sense to her damaged brain...

.

[13:34] You: She crouches lower, wiggling her ass a bit, preparing to leap....

[13:35] Jackson Fisher stands ready to change magazines and send a piercing pain into her and watching her sleep.

[13:35] Mitz Xi looks down at the hand coming out for her nipple chain... she snaps a hand up using a sweeping motion to block and push the hand aside.. she steps forward with an open palm sending it toward Chi's nose

[13:37] Ashur Kentoku stops her impending leap at the sudden movements, the two shapes becoming one....she knows dimly that they're fighting now, but she wants the synthnip...she takes a step closer, sniffling, her eyes blinking...hopefully she finds it on the filthy street, her precious, yes!

[13:39] Jackson Fisher breathes a sigh of relief and clicks the magazine back in the Colt, releasing his other one and returning his hands to his side. It would seem all would be well after all.

[13:40] Shilandar Deledda chuckled to himself as the reach caught Mitz's attention, the arm that was blocked aside bending at the elbow to block the oncoming open palm. His other hand would throw the nip right towardes Mitz's face, left to scatter in the air, land upon the ground, and cover her face if she stood still long enough. "Like I said, pest.... thinking I want to tie you up and tame you." [There, nip on the street. =p]

[13:42] Ashur Kentoku drops to her knees, snuffling at the nip scattered in the street....she mews and bats at it, purring some....

[13:44] Mitz Xi *mews* out as she staggers back with nip in her face.. she rubs her eyes with the backs of her hands... she slams hard into the pillar as she backpeddles from chi.. the nip was inhaled.. and her control she did have over the instincts are unleashed... all hell is about to break loose from the tiny runt.... she snarls low... her body tenses... then the metal claws snap into place as she roars out in pure feline fury

[13:45] You: Drool dribbles from Ashur's mouth as she sits in the street, grinning and mewing...her ears flatten when Mitz loses it though, and she scoots back on her butt a bit....

[13:46] Ashur Kentoku yowls and hisses, intent on protecting her nip!

[13:47] Shilandar Deledda chuckles to himself and looks to Mitz a moment, then the man standing there off to one side. Leaving the rest of the nip to be played with as the feline's like, he would simply leap backwards from the pair, further down the street.

[13:47] Jackson Fisher wants to see holes in Chi's chest tonight, but he doubts anything would happen.

[13:47] Shilandar Deledda really wants to know what he did to that guy, but supposes he'll have to find out later.

[13:49] Mitz Xi whirls at the movemnent... she takes a few short steps and leaps into the air with claws out slashing at who ever is closest.. her eyes are glazed over as she is running on pure primal instincts now...

[13:49] Shilandar Deledda is glad he's no longer the closest one, then.

[13:51] Ashur Kentoku hugs the street, a pawful of nip clutched to her chest.....

[13:53] Ashur Kentoku stuffs raw synthnip into her drooling mouth and munches on it, eyes closed in bliss.....

[13:54] You: ...as the fight goes on around her....

[13:54] Jackson Fisher struggles to regain his balance. The break in focus abit shocking. She swoops by his face as he bends over backward, reaching behind him to brace himself. She knocks his fedora clean off his head.

[13:56] Ashur Kentoku opens her eyes and glances at Jackson...."Mrowl?" She offers a paw with nip piled in it to him..."Whu wan ssomme?" she slurrs, blinking....

[13:58] Jackson Fisher returns to a stand and pivots on his left heel around to face them. He takes a steap back, and kneels to gently grasp the pile of catnip drenched in saliva. He balls it up in his hand. "Thank you." He says in a low tone.

[13:58] Shilandar Deledda acks and tumbles from the blow, sent into a backwards roll from the collision. He looked to Mitz, then the other person, tempted to leave her to manage with him. Of course, if she calmed down he would need to talk to her. With an annoyed snort he gave Mitz the finger, a quick enough motion to gain her attention before he made his way further down the street.

[14:01] Ashur Kentoku grins, already blissed out from the nip....she swallows her mouthfull and stuffs the remainder into her little mouth and chews blissfully again, watching Mitz and Chi fight their way down the street....

[14:01] Mitz Xi hissing she moves after Chi as he draws her attention.. she follows as now the hunt is on... hunter vs huntress... she was not happy and now wired on synth-nip she definately wants to tear his arm off and beat him to death with it... sooo down the street we go

[14:01] Mitz Xi shrieks out in anger as is she cranky now.

[14:02] Jackson Fisher thrusts his hand forward as hard as he can. The nip spews from his grip and threatens to cover them both.

[14:04] Jackson Fisher watches the nip scatter all over the street, blending in with the trash and muck already littering it. He sighs and wipes off his sticky hand on a handkerchief from his pocket. "You should come with me. I can help you."

[14:05] Ashur Kentoku looks up, not quite understanding through her fog of nip euphoria and brain damage...."Mrow?"

[14:08] Jackson Fisher looks down into her eyes and flashes a brief smile. He kneels to pick up his fedora and replace it on his head. Jackson offers a dry hand, still covered in the odor of catnip, to the hapless neko, he speaks. "Come on. Let's get you patched up."

[14:08] Duke Kotobide looks at ash and growls at jackson

[14:09] Ashur Kentoku mews and giggles some, letting herself be pulled to her feet....

[14:10] Jackson Fisher turns around with her in his hand. He offers an explanation. "I'm not to harm her. I know how to fix what's wrong with her."

[14:10] You: She purrs and leans against Jackson, eyes glazed now more from synthnip euphoria than from brain damage....

[14:10] Duke Kotobide looks to ash "are you ok with that?"

[14:11] Ashur Kentoku blinks stupidly at Duke, not having a clue what they were talking about...she nods again, just because she knows people like to see it.....

[14:12] Duke Kotobide shurgs and looks at jackson "you hurt her.....and yeah" walks off

[14:12] You: Drool from the catnip still trickles from her mouth...she doesnt even notice and stares about her, completely spaced out....

[14:14] Jackson Fisher gently leads her behind them, walking with care not for her to wander off and eat something or trip and fall - in no particular order. He speaks in his usual deep and thunderous tone. "Come on."

[14:15] Ashur Kentoku toddles off after Jackson...

[14:16] Ashur Kentoku hiccups and grins, blinking vaguely about her...some dim part of her mind knows she's been here before...

[14:17] Jackson Fisher blinks for a moment and lets go. He pulls the handkerchief square and lets pieces of nip fall about the floor, then walks off into the office.

[14:19] Ashur Kentoku looks down and plops down on the floor, picking the nip up....

[14:20] Jackson Fisher reenters the room, his M1911 locked and loaded with the tranquilizing rounds. He draws a sight line to Ashur's thigh and pulls the trigger in a point shooting style.

[14:21] Ashur Kentoku stares at the dart in her thigh and looks back up at Jackson blinking.....she frowns and pulls it out, tossing it on the floor, then stuffs the ball of synthnip in her mouth and chews on it, even as she gets sleepy....

[14:23] Ashur Kentoku swallows and looks back at Jackson..."Mew?" she utters, then slides over onto the carpet, unconscious.....

[14:23] Jackson Fisher quickly holsters the pistol and hustles over to pick her up. He slides his arms under her legs and shoulders, being sure to place his forearm under her head to avoid snapping her neck. Pulling her up to stand, her beelines for the door and carries her into the office.

[14:28] Jackson Fisher sets her down gently on the floor. Readying the shackles and steel bars for use. He reaches into the small cupboard and pulls from it a rolling green box.

[14:29] Ashur Kentoku snuffles softly in her sleep....

[14:30] Jackson Fisher wheels it over next to her and taps lightly on a keypad as it hisses and opens.

[14:33] Ashur Kentoku dreams of catching mice and blowing things to bits with her gunz....

[14:39] Jackson Fisher lifts a black pleather wrapped ceramic piece from the top, and reveals an eyepiece. He reaches into his pocket and retrieves a pen, resetting the operating system on it via a tiny slot and button. He stands and locks the metal bars in place on her arms and lets her lie comfortably. The eypiece humms and buzzes, then beeps quietly a couple of times and boots up. He slides the earpiece into her left ear so as not to interfere with her natural right eye dominance. It whines for a half a second and pierces into her ear like an earring, a small ball of metal on each exit hole. He would be able to remove it any time he wished.

[14:56] Ashur Kentoku purrs some and blinks her eyes open...she snuffles and lies there, looking around the room....she sits up, rubbing her face with a paw, hair falling haphazardly around her face....shes still tripping from the nip, but she can see and think better than she could in a long while......

[14:58] Jackson Fisher kneels and looks into her eyes again. He holds up four fingers and speaks. "How many thumbs am I holding?"

[14:59] Ashur Kentoku blinks at Kackson, her eyes focusing..."Who're you?" she mews in a soft voice...she blinks as she notices the HUD aiding her vision..."Four. What did you duh do to me?" She speaks almost without stammering.

[15:01] Ashur Kentoku lifts a paw to her face and peers at it....

[15:03] Jackson Fisher shakes off the sarcasm in his ways. "My name is Jackson. We've a mutual friend, I suppose you could say." He lowers his hand. "How do you feel?"

[15:04] Ashur Kentoku wobbles her head...."Better than in a whuh while. I can think straight and see better."

[15:05] Jackson Fisher nods. "Don't take your left earring off, whatever you do, and you'll be fine.

[15:05] Ashur Kentoku purrs inadvertently from the nip, and being able to understand her world a bit more clearly now...

[15:05] Ashur Kentoku nods, feeling it with her fingers....

[15:06] Jackson Fisher examines her motor skills and sense of direction slowly crawl from nothing. "You'll see improvement in time."

[15:07] You: "Thank you...you've given me a chance to survive...and fight back now. I owe you." She stands and wraps her arms around you in a big hug, purring....

[15:08] Jackson Fisher pats her shoulder gently and grunts from the surprise move. "Don't mention it." His expression changes to indifference before he turns to leave "I mean seriously, don't mention it."

[15:11] Ashur Kentoku pads softly out after him, peering around at the clearer world she's not seen for a while

[15:12] Jackson Fisher breathes a heavy sigh of relief as he exits the office.

[15:18] Jackson Fisher speaks soflty to her. "Do you know how to get back home?"

[15:19] Ashur Kentoku sniffs the air and looks about her, her new senses tinged with a strange softness from the nip she'd eaten earlier....she stares at Kuno, wondering where she'd seen him before, then looked back at Jackson..."Home is where I stop to sleep," she purrs...."So, yes, thanks."

[15:20] Jackson Fisher nods. "Alright. I have to go."

[15:20] Ashur Kentoku slips a paw into Jackson's hand and smiles, her scars pulling at her lips....

[15:21] You: ...and then walks off down the street, humming softly, drinking in the new sensations her med device feeds to her damaged brain....

Darren has spent the last three months in Italy, travelling for work. His flight was coming in tonight, so the kids and I headed to the Columia area to hangout for the afternoon, before heading to the airport to wait for his flight. We stopped at Roots, then went to Centennial Park for a nice long walk, then headed to the mall for a ride on the carousel, wrapping up at Whole Foods Market for dinner. Darren's flight was delayed a half an hour, but arrived safely, and we were all very happy to see him!

Retrieve the Legendary Axe from the middle of the bridge

I was invited by Iowa Pacific President Ed Ellis to document the first two days of his new Chicago Terminal Railroad as it took over operations from CP Rail on the remnants of former Milwaukee Road trackage on Chicago's North Side.

The first day got off to a slow start as the Chicago River drawbridge had to be opened into place, two switches cleared of mud in the General Iron Industries area along Kingsbury Street, then two cars had to be towed blocking the progress of the train at the Lakeshore Athletic Club on Fullerton.

Eventually we made it to Peerless Confectionary running light to retrieve two empty cars left there by CP the previous week. It featured rare street running on the former MILW "Chicago & Evanston" or C&E Line in the middle of Lakewood Avenue. It started raining too hard to get pictures after the hopper was pulled out. The crew was taking one car out at a time, unsure of how much room they had on the stub of track that extended into Diversey Boulevard that was retained as a tail when the rest of the C&E was abandoned in 1984 from that point north. CP was able to pull two cars out at a time.

A few months later Peerless closed down and Chicago Terminal lost its first customer. This operation was rarely photographed to Peerless under Chicago Terminal operation as it only lasted from January into April of 2007 and service was infrequent. This area looks totally different now.

Scientists at NIH used electrical recordings to study how the human brain remembers. In a pair of studies, scientists at the National Institutes of Health explored how the human brain stores and retrieves memories. One study suggests that the brain etches each memory into unique firing patterns of individual neurons. Meanwhile, the second study suggests that the brain replays memories faster than they are stored.

Summertime in southern Mitgardia is very green, and while temperatures cannot be thought of as hot, all the snow usually melts allowing grass to grow, flowers to bloom, and the giant dragonfly-like Stingers to come out of hibernation...

Eflatun Pınar.....bears unique testimony to a major cult monument of the Hittite Empire. The Hittites secured the political unity in Anatolia, existed in these lands roughly between 1620 BC and 1200 BC and acquired a very different and significant place in the Anatolian history. The Hittites built their temples nearby sources of water as they thought water was elixir of life. The spring sanctuary of Eflatun Pınar has a great importance within the water cult having a significant role in the Hititte religion. Integration of water in the architectural and religious concept is a unique feature of the site. As the Hittites had a theocratic understanding of religion they often established their cities and erected their temples nearby the sources of water which is elixir of life. These sources of water and rivers were sanctified and good deal of importance that attached to the cult of water by performing a lot of rituals. In lots of places of the Hittite Empire territory, foremost Hattusa, basins, dams, weirs, especially rock monuments were built nearby water were unearthed. For usually Hittite spring sanctuaries had been carved everywhere in Anatolia in the natural rock, but in this case obviously Eflatun Pınar was erected artificially in order to be able to mount the relief. Thousands tons of stones had to be transported from an andesite quarry about five kilometres away from the construction site that is an impressive logistical achievement. No inscriptions were found at the site, but based on its proximity to Yalburt and Köylütolu Monuments this monument may be dated to the 2nd half of 13th century BC. A Hittite cult basin is also preserved in Yalburt, a place that is only 60 kilometres away from Eflatun Pınar. Yet the water structural arrangements of this monument are very simple and cannot be compared to those in Eflatun Pınar. In one point, the two structures are nevertheless similar the basin of Yalburt is erected of large ashlars, that are stacked up in several courses. There is no relief existed on the monument of Yalburt and as a result of its drain spring, it has lost its original function currently.

Week 4, I'm resisting to upload one of the funny outtakes (yes, they exist :D). Instead, I'll show you her second favorite activity right after eating: retrieving. It was quite slippery in the forest so she started to waddle. Nevertheless, she retrieved very well and it was very funny to watch, so I decided to take a few shots of it since I wanted to upload a retrieving shot anyway. Unfortunately, the light was a little bit harsh, but I like this one with the flying snow anyhow.

A memory of warmer days just to cheer us in one of the coldest months. Oh to be as happy with one's lot in life as this dog appears to be.
