A little modern day retail therapy.

Off to IKEA we went. Having decided on the bathroom sink and furniture, purchasing it required touch screen computer, scanning a QR code, loading order onto phone, production of bar code, payment by barcode and credit card, and then finally a member of staff wheeled out a loaded trolley. This really is stretching my IT skills. Marion only loaded a QR reader App yesterday for the first time. We are rapidly becoming a Fred and Wilma couple!

45575 Dulles Eastern Plz Ste 188, Sterling, VA 20166

Store originally opened in 2001, part of Dulles Town Crossing, the big-box counterpart to Dulles Town Center. Recieved the major chain-wide interior refresh in the mid 2000s to include the Magnolia Home Theater. Remodeled again in 2012 with the interior and exterior prototypes.

Contains a varied set of Best Buy features inside, such as the Windows store, Samsung store, Magnolia areas, and the professional kitchen.

Otherwise known as Resale Therapy. I went in to pick up some money, and then it backfired when I found three great items. New with tags Aimee Kestenberg clutch, new with tags brick color linen tank, and Harari silk ikat kimono top.

Dick's Sporting Goods (8009 Stonewall Shops Square, Gainesville, VA 20155): Opened on October 26, 2011 as a newbuild to an empty parcel in the center. Typical modern Dick's store.

Staples (7973 Stonewall Shops Square, Gainesville, VA 20155): Opened on August 2, 2008 as another store in the center. Haven't been inside to really know this store, but I'm assuming it's just your average Staples store from that time period.

This store opened in November 1993 as a Super Kmart Center location. However, this store was downgraded to a regular kmart store in February 2011 but received new signage in August 2014 and a new Kroger store operates in the former grocery section of the store. The Kroger store opened in May of 2015

To the distance was once and still is a vacant cinema which has long struggled to find a new tenant. We weren't certain how much of it was still intact apart from the signage on the outside.

A vintage Filene's trailer found at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills (Mall) in Manchester, CT. It's an oldie, and its rust shows apart the 70's-era art deco Filene's logo -- a now bygone Boston-based clothier (thanks to Macy's!).

This gran pappy trailer is currently used by Macy's, and has been seen around other malls in the area including Westfield Meriden and Westfarms.

View of Marlton Commons Shopping Center passing over the Route 73 overpass. It originally opened in 1973 as Two Guys Shopping Center with a strip of small stores which have since been replaced with two big box stores. The Marlton Comons name came a couple of years ago after Vornado sold the site, before it was just named after the anchor store - Two Guys then Jefferson Ward, Bradlees then Kohl's. Shop Rite took over the former Two Guys Supermarket space shortly before the rest store closed - It has been here the longest and generates the most traffic here since it is the only supermarket in town (there were as many as six at one time).

Friendly's came along in May, 1983. In the mid 1970s a Roy Roger's Restaurant was added on a pad site beyond Friendly's in this scene, which later became Boston Market. it was demolished in the late 2000s when a driveway was relocated and replaced with another pad site building nearby housing Bank of America, partly hidden behind Friendly's in this scene. Recent addition Shake Shack is at the far right.

time to get in a bit of last minute shopping xx

For the Nike Vintage Running retail launch, the authentic 70’s theme was carried into the retail display and fixturing program. Materials included wood veneer paneling, shag carpet, and found elements such as photo frames, stereo consoles and old trophies. For larger retail installations the back of an entire VW microbus was used as a product display.

WEEK 14 – Superlo Foods Southaven

The Superlo deli department is the first thing you see upon entering the store, aside from the vestibule, of course. Weird, right? In my opinion, this store has a very odd layout, at least compared to other stores in the area – who knows, maybe this is the norm elsewhere!

(c) 2015 Retail Retell

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)

This photo was taken with my 35 mm Canon Rebel Mark II. This is the carcass of Hutchinson, Kansas' old Osco Drug store. Opening in 1968 as Katz Drug the massive store sold everything from cards to motor oil. The discount drug chain changed names over the years, donning the names of Skagg's Discount City and later Osco. This store had the longest lunch counter I have ever seen. I can remember having a soda there several times during my youth. Sadly, the store closed for good in 2006 and has remained empty since.

The always entertaining window displays at the Hermès shop in the Chiado district of Lisbon.

A group of old retail logos I put together.

A retail strip at the Springdale section of Cherry Hill NJ with interesting architecture. It was built in 1977 with minor modifications through the years. The jewelry store on the corner was originally The Wild Hare, which was an upscale salon.

CVS applied to the Cherry Hill Zoning Board for a variance to build a drug store on this corner, which would cause this to be demolished.
