As I photographed this abandoned restored church I thought what a beautiful way to think about Good Friday and Easter and the true meaning.....we can get restored, there no distance in prayer. Happy Easter my Flickr friends.
In 1908, the Düsseldorf-based Central-trade-ssociation for Rhineland, Westphalia and neighbouring districts praised a competition for a fountain in front of the Düsseldorf Art Palace.
As a "figurative representation of the iron industry and the mining industry," it was to be sent to the 1902 on the site on the banks of the Rhine (then Kaiser Wilhelm Park, now Rheinpark) the industrial and commercial exhibition was held.
Among the 44 designs submitted, the jury, which was prominently occupied by the painter Fritz Roeber, the painter Georg Oeder, the architect Wilhelm Kreis and the Düsseldorf garden director Walter von Engelhardt, was Prize awarded, so also do not recommend a design for execution. It was initially planned to give the authors of the shortlisted drafts the opportunity to revise them in a second stage of competition (a closer competition).
The fountain was built in its original form between 1911 and 1913. While the Düsseldorf architect Gotthold Nestler designed the actual well complex, the sculptor Friedrich Coubillier created the three bronze figures "Schmied Vulkan," "Bergmann" and "Hüttenarbeiter." Miner and cottage worker are depicted in the loincloth. The bronze casting of the figures took place at the Kunstgießerei Lauchhammer.
On the occasion of the opening of the Grand Art Exhibition in 1913, the industrial fountain in front of the former Art Palace was inaugurated. In 1925 the fountain was dismantled there because of the extensive new buildings at the Ehrenhof.
In 1939, the three sculptures were erected in a new facility on Fürstenplatz in Friedrichstadt. In 1942 the figures were to be melted down as metal donations by the German people for armaments and were removed. However, they remained intact, and in 1950 they were restored.

The Greyhound station was built in 1938, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 for its architectural significance. It was restored in 2018 and now used as a venue

The Ripon Canal is located in North Yorkshire, England. It was built by the canal engineer William Jessop to link the city of Ripon with the navigable section of the River Ure at Oxclose Lock, from where boats could reach York and Hull. First used in 1773 and closed in 1956 consising of 3 locks over its 2.3 miles
In 1961, members of the Ripon Motor Boat Club formed the Ripon Canal Company Ltd, and gradually restored the canal up to Littlethorpe. Subsequently, the Ripon Canal Society spearheaded restoration, which was completed in 1996. It is now managed by the Canal & River Trust

Bergh Castle or in Dutch Huis Bergh, in 's-Heerenberg, is one of the largest castles in Gelderland, The Netherlands. It gives its name to the Land van den Bergh and was previously owned by the Counts Van den Bergh.
The building history dates back to the 13th century. The main parts of the castle are from the 14th, 15th and 17th century. In the beginning of the Dutch Revolt the house got damaged by war. In 1735 the castle burned down.
In 1912 Huis Bergh and all belongings became the property of Jan Herman van Heek, an industrialist from Enschede.
He restored the buildings. In 1939 there was another major fire. Thanks to the help of locals most of the furniture was rescued. Renovation began the same year and was completed in 1941.

Certainly not a rare wildflower in the remnant and restored tallgrass prairies around here, but during our visit to the restored prairie on the grounds of the Herbert Hoover Birthplace National Historic Site I found the nicest display I have seen-both purple and white.
After being moved to a new location towards the end of last year, venerable boxcab CN 6710 has now been repainted and restored. CN 6710 was built by General Electric and delivered to the Canadian Northern as CNoR 600 in 1919. It was used on the electrified Deux-Montagnes line until being retired in 1995.
we are taking a weekend away at the beach. time to reconnect with each other and ourselves. so relaxing and much needed. you will see shots here and there throughout the weekend, but commenting will be kept to a bare minimum. happy weekend.

Van der Pekbuurt (neighbourhood).
During the entire renovation of this neighbourhood, the historic appearance of the outside of the houses has been restored. The new wooden doors, windows and frames have the original colours from the 1920s: ocher yellow, dark green and red brown.
De Van der Pekbuurt is gebouwd tussen 1918 en 1926 en is daarmee een van de eerste tuindorpen van Amsterdam. Architect Jan Ernst van der Pek ontwierp de stedenbouwkundige en architectonische opzet in 1916. Rode bakstenen muren, geglazuurde gele bakstenen banden en portieken die uit de gevels springen kenmerkten het straatbeeld. De wijk geldt als beschermd stadsgezicht.
De woonblokken hadden door de vele aanpassingen in de loop der tijd hun oorspronkelijke charme verloren. Door kunststof kozijnen en verdwenen originele details zoals dakkapelletjes, tuinmuren en voordeuren hadden de blokken een armoedige uitstraling gekregen. Ook de originele kleuren waren verdwenen.
Binnen de gehele renovatie van de wijk is aan de buitenzijde de historische uitstraling van de woningen van de Van der Pekbuurt teruggebracht. Zo hebben de nieuwe houten deuren en kozijnen de oorspronkelijke kleuren uit de jaren 1920: okergeel, donkergroen en roodbruin (architectenweb.nl).

Adventuress is a 133-foot gaff-rigged schooner launched in 1913 in East Boothbay, Maine. She has since been restored, and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. She did some Arctic exploring and later was a pilot ship in San Francisco. She now sails out of Port Townsend as part of Sound Experience. On this trip in the San Juan Islands, we caught some strong wind that whipped up some spray on these folks hauling on the jib sheet with their rumps on deck.. The foresail can be seen furled down as she sped along with the jib and mainsail. (www.soundexp.org).
This 1956 Studebaker Hawk hood, came with a 170hp V8 engine. It could be upgraded to 180hp with the 4 barrel addition. The very talented restoration mechanic named Robert, told me of his passion to work on such vehicles. This piece of perfection sat idol for one year in a garage as it went through its beauty treatment.
Considering the Shuswap Car Show was held at an outdoor museum, it seemed appropriate to add a local flavour. So, I combined the rare scoop with the reflection of an old and also restored wooden building.
There has been a church there since the 12th century, but this church itself was built during the 14th & 15th centuries, and restored in the 19th Century.
Buried side by side in the churchyard are two railwaymen, engine driver Thomas Scaife and fireman Joseph Rutherford, who both lost their lives when the boiler of a locomotive exploded in Bromsgrove station on 10 November 1840. Their gravestones both show reliefs of steam locomotives.
The Columbia County Courthouse, built in 1905, is an historic courthouse building located at 173 NE Hernando Avenue in Lake City, Florida. It was designed by architect Frank Pierce Milburn in the Classical Revival style of architecture. It was built with a dome and cupola, which were removed before 1989, but were restored in 2003 during a major renovation and expansion of the courthouse. In 1989, the Columbia County Courthouse was listed in A Guide to Florida's Historic Architecture, published by the University of Florida Press.
The Columbia County Courthouse is a contributing property in the Lake City Historic Commercial District.

Lovely restored garden near the Menai Straits on Anglesey. The building at the back of the lawn on the right of the shot, is a rather nice tea room. The buildings on the left are converted to holiday cottages, which must make a lovely place to stay.

The'MB' class wasn't with us long. As a small child I remember using these on Routes 235, 242 & 276.
The route numbers are used elsewhere today in 2018; the 235 of 1971 has no equivalent, and three routes go over sections of it, the 242 is commercially run on part of the old route in Hertfordshire, and the 276 is almost the 215 today.
