The GM Futurliners were a series of Bus-like vehicles designed to travel the US, bringing displays of new and exciting 20th Century technologies to US rural communities.

Most of the Futurliners were built during late 1939, ready for the tours in 1940.

The Futurliners were retired during the late 1950s, as GM's community displays took a back seat to the Motorama motorshow experience.

After many years, these Motorama buses found new purposes. Futurliner 9, shown here, was refurbished to a motorhome from 1984.

The scheme was changed from red over silver to white over red shown here. Additional windows were added at the sides.

The interior has a bar on the left hand side, with a lounge/sleeping area at the rear of the Futurliner.

Futurliner 9 also received some resto-mod help, with a late 1940s Chevrolet inline six 'stovebolt six' in place of the four-cylinder power originally specified.

As a style statement though, the Futurliners are an awesome mid-20th Century rolling monument to modernism.

This Lego miniland-scale 1940s General Motors Futurliner 9 - Motorhome Conversion has been created for Flickr LUGNuts' 103rd Build Challenge, titled - 'The Fabulous Forties!' - a challenge for any vehicle produced through the decade of the 1940s.

Super Snail.

The quintessential French classic, and one of my all time faves. In honor of its timeless legacy the PYP garage is debuting this bad boy: Tuned, dumped and ready to melt some faces!

Legend Status.

The Hakosuka Skyline coupe is one of the most recognized and sought-after classic Japanese automotive designs and something I’ve wanted to capture in Lego form for some time now. The Hakosuka has had a massive influence on modern tuning culture and I wanted to reflect that by putting a little extra into this build. This particular example is a tasteful restomod with a modern update including an RB26 engine swap to keep things interesting and emissions compliant :)

Premium Detailing Mode was employed for the taillights, a signature element of the Hako. I started by designing a taillight insert for the rectangular trans red tile and then trimmed thin strips of chrome silver adhesive vinyl. I applied the strip along each side of the taillight lens to create a trim surround look.

This build is part of a Skyline double feature cooked up with Legomasino. Visit IG to check out both of our builds: Hakosuka Skyline GTR @pleaseyesplease and Kenmeri Skyline GTR @legomasino!

Rear view of a 1962 American Motors (AMC) Rambler American Custom 5-Door, 5-6-Passenger Station Wagon, [6208-2]. One of approximately 8,998 ‘Custom’ wagons built, out of an overall 27,268 ‘American’ series of 3-and-5-door station wagons built by AMC (formally Nash-Kelvinator), for 1962.

Judging by the chrome dealer badge on the rear, this car was sold new at Cline Motors Inc., a long defunct AMC dealership in Shelby, North Carolina, presumably the car was assembled in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The car was treated to a superb restoration in the states, before being imported to the UK in 2008, with period black plate registration; “530 XUK”. Fitted w/ aftermarket “Rocket Strike” alloys, window stickers, retrofit seat belts, vintage metal AA + RAC grille badges, plus a few components which may have been dealer options (such as the window surround visors + chrome roof rack). The car still has its original 3.2-litre flathead 6-cylinder mated to a 3-speed auto. A very rare car in the UK, and an increasingly rare car in the states, too.

This car was one of the vehicles in attendance at the annual ‘Race The Waves’ pre-show event in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. However, the car was parked just over the road, a stone’s throw from the main car gathering. Technically still a discreet “car show spot”, but also one which can easily pass for a nice “found down on the street”, “Curbside Classic” find! - In fact, this classic ‘Surf Wagon’ stands out so much nicer in this suburban setting, gleaming bright amongst all the other modern day plastic vehicles. P.S. - shoutout to Paul Niedermeyer, Rich Baron and the rest of the very passionate writers at the CC website, and a big THANK YOU for featuring some of my car spots and findings in the past! - L.S.
