The GM Futurliners were a series of Bus-like vehicles designed to travel the US, bringing displays of new and exciting 20th Century technologies to US rural communities.
Most of the Futurliners were built during late 1939, ready for the tours in 1940.
The Futurliners were retired during the late 1950s, as GM's community displays took a back seat to the Motorama motorshow experience.
After many years, these Motorama buses found new purposes. Futurliner 9, shown here, was refurbished to a motorhome from 1984.
The scheme was changed from red over silver to white over red shown here. Additional windows were added at the sides.
The interior has a bar on the left hand side, with a lounge/sleeping area at the rear of the Futurliner.
Futurliner 9 also received some resto-mod help, with a late 1940s Chevrolet inline six 'stovebolt six' in place of the four-cylinder power originally specified.

As a style statement though, the Futurliners are an awesome mid-20th Century rolling monument to modernism.
This Lego miniland-scale 1940s General Motors Futurliner 9 - Motorhome Conversion has been created for Flickr LUGNuts' 103rd Build Challenge, titled - 'The Fabulous Forties!' - a challenge for any vehicle produced through the decade of the 1940s.
"By embracing the Restomod philosophy, Kimera Automobili takes this concept to the extreme. By combining the style, flavor and charm of one of the most legendary racing "queens" of the 1980s, with the characteristics of a modern car in terms of technology, quality and performance, the EVO37 is born..."

The Hakosuka Skyline coupe is one of the most recognized and sought-after classic Japanese automotive designs and something I’ve wanted to capture in Lego form for some time now. The Hakosuka has had a massive influence on modern tuning culture and I wanted to reflect that by putting a little extra into this build. This particular example is a tasteful restomod with a modern update including an RB26 engine swap to keep things interesting and emissions compliant :)
Premium Detailing Mode was employed for the taillights, a signature element of the Hako. I started by designing a taillight insert for the rectangular trans red tile and then trimmed thin strips of chrome silver adhesive vinyl. I applied the strip along each side of the taillight lens to create a trim surround look.
This build is part of a Skyline double feature cooked up with Legomasino. Visit IG to check out both of our builds: Hakosuka Skyline GTR @pleaseyesplease and Kenmeri Skyline GTR @legomasino!
I hope you enjoy!
