1956 Thunderbird Restomod

This project took about 100 hours from stripping the old paint, sanding the frame, applying, sanding , compounding and waxing the base paint to remove orange peel, experimenting with various Dottie paints and color combos, applying the Dotties ( I could only work a small section at a time as I had to make sure that I did not touch it in the wrong wet place.) to clearing it twice.

200 hours if you count all of the angst.

This was my first Dottie paint project. i was not sure going in whether or not the dots would work and became more apprehensive until I got about 1/4 of ti painted and realized that I was on to something interesting.

The primer and base coat are Rustoleum rattle can and I am sure that I am one of the Masters of Rattlecan. I know...that's like being a great paint by the numbers artist but rattle cans can look very nice if you are willing to work the paint smartly both during and after the application.

I have three other resto-mod projects in the works. One is another of my Hurlows the second is a 1971 Raleigh Pro which will be resto-moded to a ss and the third is my circa 1982 Trailmaster Pro Cruiser mountain bike that I am restoring to it's 1985 condition.

This bike was completed in the late winter of 2010.
