Having lost so much in 2 huge fires in less than a year, I like to focus on the regeneration Nature provides. The last fire related pic for now. Optimism springs from the dirt. How can you not smile when you glimpse a patch like this?

Beforehand you doubt whether you will see dolphins when you book a dolphin tour, but what a wonderful evening this was. The Adriatic Sea was calm and it turned out to be an almost perfect day to spot them. We ended up seeing dozens of them. And then you secretly hope for that one shot of a jumping dolphin, because you had to be very lucky with that. And then.. you suddenly have it! I'm very happy with this result! In the background you can see the town of Vrsar.
Before our holiday we had already orientated and we ended up at Dolphin Watching Rovinj due to the good reviews. They have a small but fast boat with only a few seats, approach the dolphins in a very calm and respectful way and tell you interesting information and facts about the dolphins and the Adriatic Sea. Highly recommended!
You just read it, we were on holiday in Rovinj, a charming town on the Adriatic Sea in the province of Istria in Croatia. We stayed there for about a week. On the way there we also made stops in Italy (near Lago di Braies) and Slovenia (Lake Bled). On the way back we slept in Fieberbrunn (Tyrol, Austria). You can imagine that this was a incredibly beautiful road trip, which flew by far too quickly. But luckily I have enough photos (just over 1800) to keep me busy for a while.

Art Deco in paint, lights and mascot, in this wonderfully outrageous 1929 Ruxton sedan, the 3rd Ruxton produced and the first sedan (out of a total of just under 100 cars, with around 19 still alive), with it's flamboyant distinctive Joseph Urban horizontal stripe paint design, Very low (even lower than the Cord L-29) and smooth driving even today.

The patience of ordinary things
It is a kind of love, is it not?
How the cup holds the tea,
how the chair stands sturdy and foursquare,
how the floor receives the bottoms of shoes
or toes. How soles of feet know
where they’re supposed to be.
I’ve been thinking about the patience
of ordinary things, how clothes
wait respectfully in closets
and soap dries quietly in the dish,
and towels drink the wet
from the skin of the back.
And the lovely repetition of stairs.
And what is more generous than a window?

Sometimes Death Comes Formal in his best black velvet gown with inky darkness trailing behind him. Serious and brooding, giving a respectful bow before he takes your soul ever so gently with such a precise sweep of his scythe. That is when you know your afterlife will be calm and at ease. That's when you know you can take a breath and be at peace, when you see death coming down the steps in his best formal gown...

This is a face (among several millions in India alone) of a person who has been and being neglected by the society. Despite being among have not's, people like her did not take resort to terrorism or similar anti people act. These people tell volume against the opportunistic views of some so called ' intellectuals' in India and abroad who indirectly justify terrorism and terrorists citing that they are otherwise innocents but are the victims of social deprivation and inequality!!! My partisan view is that improper upbringing, irrational thinking, religious/sectarian blindness and sadistic mindset are the root cause of terrorism . Social inequality definitely contributes but cannot be the root (or only) cause of terrorism/separatism. Every govt. should turn to these people and help them live respectfully instead of tolerating/negotiating with and giving concession to the terrorists/separatists or their national and international handlers.

The arrival of the Yellow Warblers - as with the Red-winged Blackbirds, the males arrive first and scrap over territory - is another big change to the sound of the woods and wetlands around Ottawa. It is one of the first Warbler songs I learned, mostly through exposure and repetition. Their calls and song soon replace the Kinglets’ sounds.
They are local breeding Warblers, so once the females arrive and the scrapping has established the order of things, there will be nesting and fledging to follow. Like other migrants, these birds gradually relax a bit in the presence of (calm, respectful) humans, but in the early days they are a bit more frenzied.
The hormones are driving competition, but on the morning this was taken, cold and wind were making insect life scarce, and so pauses in the breeding excitement were needed to replenish the calories. This bird sat briefly, looking for its next meal.

with respectful distance the Barbary Monkeys can be photographed. But such a photo shooting costs. The currency is called popcorn. A popcorn is handed with the open hand. Other popcorn stocks, which one has with you, one should not openly show. The generally peaceful Barbary monkeys have strong and nimble fingers, so they can even get their fee even out of the jacket pocket.
Since 2007, with the government of Rafael Correa, the tourism brand "Ecuador Ama la Vida" has been transformed, with which the nation's tourism promotion would be sold. Focused on considering it as a country friendly and respectful of nature, natural biodiversity, and cultural diversity of the peoples. And for this, means of exploiting them are developed along with the private economy.
The country has two cities with UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Quito and Cuenca, as well as two natural UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Galapagos Islands and Sangay National Park in addition to one World Biosphere Reserve, such as the Cajas Massif. Culturally, the Toquilla straw hat and the culture of the Zapara indigenous people are recognized. The most popular sites for national and foreign tourists have different nuances due to the various tourist activities offered by the country.
The other day I went hiking to a local state park in Connecticut to do an estimated 3-4 mile round trip hike. A trifling hike if I was twenty five years old but enough of a challenge for my almost 67 year old legs. Never the less spending the day in a very nice and beautiful woodland ambiance was quite enjoyable and I came across many people who had their canine companions with them. Woodland hikers I say are some of the nicest people you can ever meet with friendly greetings from other senior hikers who know what our legs are going feel like the next day to respectful nods of acknowledgement from the younger hikers seeing someone who is old to be their parent or even grandparent persevering on a hiking trail as for many of my peers because of their physical decline through health problems, bad health habits and or lack of exercise the days where they can do miles on a hiking trail are long gone never to be seen again.

Is that just a fanciful wish? I don't think so, we are capable of amazing things us humans, no matter our race, creed, colour, gender or religion. We can actually be decent to each other, all it takes is the desire to be respectful of and for each other.

The magnificent Flying B Bentley mascot. By the 1930s, Bentley’s Derby-built ‘silent sports cars’ had become lower and sleeker. So in 1933, artist Charles Sykes, the designer of the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy, was commissioned to create a new mascot.
Sykes designed a single wing with a forward-leaning ‘B’ in the Art Deco style, with facets that allowed the ‘B’ to read correctly when viewed from either side. However, the single wing wasn’t popular, so the design was altered to feature a pair of wings.

This Kalij Pheasant (Lophura leucomelanos) was wandering around the parking lot when I visited the Thurston Lava Tubes at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Every step the bird took towards me was slow and tentative....but I stayed quietly in one place as my new feathered friend came close enough that I could have almost touched those glorious feathers. I guessed that taking several photographs was a more respectful thing to do. So I am left with a great memory of this encounter.
This is a small part of Tyn Cot and the sad result of the insane Great War, all about a city of Ypres....
Here are the poor wretches, far away from their native soil and never returning to their homeland, to their wives and children, parents and families. They are the victims of the insanity called war.
The culprits of this deaths are the former rulers of ancient Europe, and their actions are too idiotic for words, as the actual cause of this insanity is unknow to date.
Many people are convinced that this insane war started with the murder of the Austrian heir to the throne Franz Ferdinand and his wife in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.
However, this was not the real cause, it was just the lighting of the fuse in the powder keg called Europe!
The insane war did mark the end of the German Empire, the end of the Russian Czar Empire, the end of the Habsburg Monarchy and the beginning of Communism.
The insane war forced new developments in the fields of psychiatry, and psychology because of the intens suffering of the military due their neurosis of being in constant danger of death and the neurosis Shell Shock.
Because of the horrible mutilations of the survivers, plastic surgery began a huge advance, the technics of which are still used today.
And their comrades who survived this terrible hell, but lost arms or legs, became blind or degenerated into psychiatric patients?
They were no longer looked after and condemned to beggary or abject poverty.
Only the idlers who were their leaders annex butchers received the necessary respect such as the highest decorations, statues, tombs and all kinds of other nonsense.
But what you see are the real heroes rest under a Portland tombstone side by side, row by row, by row, by row, by row.......
As I'm leaving the cemetry I get the urge to scream: "Who is the slayer, who is the victim? Speak!!"
But in a respectful place like this I can't do this................

So proud i made it through the MR SL Competition and won the title MR SL 2022. Thankful for all your support, i met so much beautiful souls and made friends. I will never forget these amazing journey. All were so amazing- the MISS SL Organization Team and all the finalists did a great job.
Also congratulations to Zieb Zen and Hasu Valentino for first and second runner up, you both deserve it so well.
I hope we can do some projects in the future together - i see us three as the winners and a team.
Also was so touched of Marcus Wisser‘s speech, it hit my heart. I know what it means to start a project from zero and grow it to a great solid event, which is known all around the grid. You are very special for me. You and the team were always professional, kind and respectful with all of us finalists, your guiding through the challenges i appreciated so much.
It made me grow personally and with my skills and qualities.
I still dont see myself perfect because i am only a human with flaws but i know i can challenge and grow even more confident and professional.
My next journey will be finishing my 6. book of neverending and open the sim soon.
Then next i have lot of projects in my mind, one of it will be to help new pageants, guiding them threw their own experiences in MISS SL and be a positive model for them giving them lots of love and power to be themself and proud of it.
Points to „be themself“ was a big challenge for me and thanks to the experience i reached it and be finally proud of myself, of who i am, where i come from and where i am now. I am not scared anymore to show it and neither voiceless. It’s who i am - a human with a kind big heart for everyone.
Helicopter Mom? Nah, just a good mother who protects her baby. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers!
*As a side note, when photographing female loons please be respectful, if she gets off her nest you are too close! They usually like a distance of about 40 feet or so depending on the Loon. I took a few shots while the baby crawled all around her, even sitting on her back, then left not overstaying my welcome.
It was a very special few minutes for me that I will remember forever. She never left the nest... Taken from the Streak! (my yak)
“A mother’s love is everything. It is what brings a child into this world. It is what molds their entire being. When a mother sees her child in danger, she is literally capable of anything. A friend and I discovered this young female snowy owl perched at the tip of one of the uppermost branches of a tall tree. She maintained her perch and her balance with no apparent effort and seemed equally at ease with our presence. Of course, we maintained a respectful distance. I think it safe to say, therefore, that we aroused only curiosity and no fear. It was one of those soupy days, gray and damp, that make for dreadfully washed out backdrops. However, joy at finding and observing her far outstripped my disappointment about the shooting conditions. Hopefully, I'll find her again on a sunny, blue sky day. (One can always dream.)
P.S. It is now 3 days since I uploaded this image to Flickr. I was holding back on making it visible to everyone, in hopes of getting a better shot to post. Because I've been unable to find "Ms. Snowy" again since then, I am now making her visible to all. Just know that this portrait doesn't really do her justice.

Race prepared straight 6 cylinder (NO Supercharger) Jaguar engined 1952 XK 120, timed at 172.4 MPH in '53 !!!! Looking aggressively mean, at speed on Hiway 1 south of Carmel California. Restored to race prep specs, and now owned and cared for by a Swiss gentleman, Kurt A. Engelhorn, St. Moritz, and co-piloted by a rugged gentleman who looks like he has been transported from the '30s Germany......
The "120" in the name referred to the aluminium car's 120 mph (193 km/h) top speed (faster with the windscreen removed), which made it the world's fastest production car at the time of its launch. In 1949 the first production car, chassis number 670003, was delivered to Clark Gable.

Slow down and steer clear when you see loons. A good reminder, the loons are currently nesting and are due to hatch their babies around June 28th, give or take a few days. I look forward to it more than I can say and wish both pairs on my lake a successful hatching. To all kayakers If the loon mothers get off their nest you are too close. The days are hot and I won't even venture out to the lake during sunset hour because I won't be able to hear nature with all the speed boats buzzing around with loud music. I know you are probably tired of me saying this but if you go fishing please be responsible and use lead free hooks. Sadly, I watched a loon die on Northwoods Law last night of lead poisoning. The poor loon had all kinds of hooks inside its belly. Be kind and respectful.

Although I learned it quickly, it was hard for me to give up the idea of chasing wildlife with my camera once I saw them. The instinct kicked in and I wanted an image and so I went. Thankfully my friend Paul, whose respect for the natural world and the complex lives of its inhabitants, was a steady presence. Learning about the ways we can inadvertently harm living things by moving them off food, for example, was very important. He also was quick to point out that these creatures can get away quickly and effectively, and even when they don’t, images of stressed and pursued creatures are not appealing.
So I have adopted a more relaxed, respectful, and often sedentary approach. I have tried to learn where things might be and waited for them. Sometimes it works, often it doesn’t, and on the odd occasion a surprise turns up.
Late in the day in a meadow outside Ottawa, watching and mostly failing to photograph butterflies in wildflowers, I paused and checked the time. It was late. Likely time to get home for a late dinner.
Out of the corner of my eye this creature emerged from the grasses and enjoyed some late day sun. On the ground, tripod set low, I calmly turned the camera and got a couple of images, shooting through the grasses because I didn’t want to move the tripod and disturb the animal. The rabbit ate a bit, sunned a bit, and then ambled off.
