[A series of 5 photos] Buckingham, Virginia has many old buildings with a variety of architectural features. However, finding information on the Province House has proved difficult. Dating presumably from circa 1800, the structure might have been residential or possibly commercial (an old tavern?). It was renovated in 2024, ten tears after these photos. It has a symmetrical facade and is 1 1/2 stories with a pair of dormers jutting from the metal roof; an external chimney is visible. On either side of the entrance is a window which causes no deviation from the symmetry. The scheme of fenestration seems to be 6 over 9. I was unable to view the rear of the building. The wooden door has recessed panels and a small mostly arched metal roof supported by two oversized brackets. One day I hope the Virginia Department of Historic Resources can update their listing for the historic district. While the department is very thorough with generally excellent resources, the information on Buckingham is very slim. Province House may or may not be listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Patriot Flag flies in Hamburg Town Park.
The Patriot Flag is flying in western New York this week, honoring the lives lost in the September 11th attacks.
The Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company helped to unfurl the red, white and blue Tuesday at Hamburg Town Park. The flag measures 58x30 feet and weighs 75 pounds. It's traveling through 50 states in 50 weeks, and it carries heartfelt symbolism.
The flag will fly over Niagara Falls on Wednesday. Its 50 state journey ends at Ground Zero on September 11th, marking the tenth anniversary of the attacks on America.

Sărbătorirea celor 99 de ani de la Marea Unire a început cu slujba religioasă Te Deum în Catedrala Mitropolitană Cluj-Napoca și a fost urmată de o suită de momente simbolice emoționante, precum salutul drapelului de luptă și intonarea Imnului Național al României de către mezzosoprana Lavinia Bocu, ceremonia militară de depunere de coroane şi jerbe de flori la statuia lui Avram Iancu sau defilarea efectivelor şi tehnicii militare, organizată de Divizia 4 Infanterie „Gemina”.
Detașamente de onoare constituite din peste 800 de militari cu 60 de mijloace tehnice din Ministerul Apărării Naționale, Ministerul Afacerilor Interne, Serviciul Român de Informaţii, Societatea Națională de Cruce Roșie și Poliția Locală au luat parte la ceremonia organizată cu ocazia aniversării Zilei Naţionale a României, în Piața „Avram Iancu” din municipiul Cluj-Napoca.
Din partea Ministerului Apărării Naționale au luat parte militari din structuri ale Diviziei 4 Infanterie „Gemina”, astfel: Regimentul 50 Rachete Antiaeriene „Andrei Mureșianu”, Regimentul 317 ISR „Vlădeasa”, Batalionul 811 Infanterie „Dragonii Transilvani”, Batalionul 7 Aruncătoare Proiectile Reactive „General Vasile Danacu”, Batalionul 55 Apărare Antiaeriană „Someș”, Batalionul 400 Sprijin „Feleacu”, Batalionul 55 Comunicații și Informatică „Napoca”.
Efectivele Ministerului Afacerilor Interne au fost compuse din specialiști ai Inspectoratului de Poliție Județean, ai Grupării de Jandarmi Mobile „Ştefan Cicio-Pop”, ai Inspectoratului pentru Situații de Urgență „Avram Iancu” și ai Școlii de Agenți de Poliție „Septimiu Mureșan”.
