Wikipedia:
Frederiksborg Castle (Danish: Frederiksborg Slot) is a palatial complex in Hillerød, Denmark. It was built as a royal residence for King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway in the early 17th century, replacing an older castle acquired by Frederick II and becoming the largest Renaissance residence in Scandinavia. Situated on three islets in the Slotssøen (castle lake), it is adjoined by a large formal garden in the Baroque style.

The city of Kyiv, which in historical terms is a sacred city (it is not for nothing that when Mikhail Bulgakov mentioned Kyiv, he always wrote the word "city" with a capital letter), is not perceived as sacred in our everyday life, being simply a place of residence and work. But the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra has preserved a sacred aura for many centuries, similar to that of Jerusalem, Rome, and Mecca. And Kiev residents, if they come to the Lavra, visitors and modern tourists rush to perform an "act of worship" - take a selfie against the backdrop of churches.
Looking across Derwent Water from it's southern shore in the Lake District National Park, England to the southern flanks of Skiddaw (3054ft - 931mtrs)
The lake occupies part of Borrowdale and lies immediately south of the town of Keswick. It is both fed and drained by the River Derwent. It measures approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) long by 1 mile (1.6 km) wide and is some 72 feet (22 m) deep. There are several islands within the lake, one of which is inhabited. Derwent Island House, an 18th-century residence, is a tenanted National Trust property open to the public on five days each year. (wiki)

The Piazza dell'Anfiteatro is another of the 'must see' sights when in Lucca. The oval town square, now filled with outdoor cafes, was once a Roman amphitheatre.

From Wikipedia : "Piazza dell'Anfiteatro is a public square in the northeast quadrant of walled center of Lucca, region of Tuscany, Italy. The ring of buildings surrounding the square, follows the elliptical shape of the former second century Roman amphitheater of Lucca. The square can be reached through four gateways located at the four vertices of the ellipse. A cross is carved into the central tile of the square with the arms pointing to the four gateways of the square.
The base of the former amphitheater (dating back to the 1st or 2nd century BC) is now some 3 meters below the center. At its peak about 18 rows of amphitheater seats held some 10,000 spectators.
Now an urban square (piazza), surrounded by private residences built using the remaining structures of the Amphitheatre, and occupied by several outdoor cafes, created in 1830 by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini who razed some of the buildings inside the oval. It was originally refurbished to be a marketplace."

One of a pair of raccoons making the rounds of people's gardens early one morning. One of them was limping, and part of its tail is missing. Perhaps the dog was out when they visited the house with the sign on the fence: "Warning: Dog in Residence!"

Prince Asakanomiya Yasuhiko (朝香宮鳩彦 1887-1981), a son-in-law of Emperor Meiji, was a general of the Japanese Imperial Army. His residence was built in 1933 on the site of a former Edo residence of the Matsudaira (松平) family that had their Han (藩 domain) in Takamatsu in the Shikoku island.
He studied in France and became fascinated with the French culture. He hired Henri Rapin, a French art déco artist, to design the interior.
Asakanomiya narrowly avoided being named a war criminal, but was purged from holding any political and public offices after the WW II by the order of GHQ of the US-led occupation forces. His imperial family status was also abolished.
The mansion occupying a primary location in the Yamanote terrace was seized by the government and sold to the Seibu Group in 1950. It had been used as a guesthouse of the Ikebukuro-based railways, retail and hotel group until 1975.
Seibu also purchased his villa in Karuizawa, a famous hill station in the Nagano prefecture, and converted it to Karuizawa Prince Hotel.
Seibu tried to built another Prince Hotel in Prince Asakanomiya's residence, but gave it up finally due to a strong local opposition. Seibu sold the property to the Tokyo prefecture in 1981, and the prefecture converted it to the Metropolitan Teien Art Museum (都立庭園美術館) as it is today.
