Sovereign nations are obsolete. All forms of government are out of date. They lag behind technological development and modern ideas, such as Network states. These Network states will “transcend” nations. They will “regenerate the earth.” A variety of progressive ideas make up the concept of the Network state. These ideas form a dream of a new society. The Network state is a parallel society that will transform our world. It’s a “radical roadmap to replace democracy,” to “reshape society.” It’s a blueprint for the future. “The next Global superpower will be a Network state!” Corporations and billionaires are buying up land with the idea of forming independent countries (Network states) within sovereign countries. They want to establish their own governance. Divide and conquer! They want to operate outside the reach of government laws and oversight. They want to abolish the copyright system. They want to evade taxation. “We anticipate that the apparently solid power of nation-states currently devoted to mass democracy will splinter in tens of thousands of fragments into a system more reminiscent of the medieval period than the modern industrial age.” Like parasites, these Network states will kill the host country. Then we will enter the age of techno-feudalism, “the age of super-monopolies and super-exploitation.” The rich are playing a chess game for power. The peasants are but pawns.

They want to be kings of their Network states! Their feudal lands will be populated by peasants. People from around the world will migrate to them. Open borders! Quick, rubber-stamp all those work visas from the third world! The corporations and billionaires will have a constant flow of cheap slave labour. This system will “transition us beyond the confines of socialism and capitalism.” They don’t want socialist and capitalist governments impeding their ability to make money with roadblocks or red tape. They call their system Cosmo-localism. Woohoo! Cosmo-slavery! It’s a “post-capitalist” system. It “can be summarized with the acronym ‘DGML,’ or design globally and manufacture locally.” You got it, Network states are giant factories. Giant sweatshops! Network states will network with each other around the world. They sound a lot like the gulags. They are worldwide islands of slave labour camps. Or you could just call them 15-minute cities.

Revelation 17:12-13 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the Beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the Beast.”

Bow to the techno-feudal king, the man of the hour, the Beast! His Cosmo-slave system will require a biometric ID-chip. The Beast, with his ten horns, will trample the whole earth. He will crush his subjects underfoot with war, famine, and plague. The gulags of hell are ever-increasing; its captives are in torment every hour.

The church is located on an elevated plateau in the middle of the town of Jastrebarsko. The history of the church goes back to the Middle Ages, however, no substrate has been preserved from the oldest layer. The first known major renovation took place in 1757, when the wooden belfry was replaced by a larger masonry one with a baroque cap. In 1788, the construction of the new church was completed. A single-nave hall building is created, supported by a series of Czech vaults, with a slightly narrower sanctuary closed by a narrowed apse. In 1880, the church was seriously damaged in an earthquake, so the need for renovation was used to reshape the facade in the then-current style of historicism. It is a significant monument of the Jastrebarsko region with its design qualities and historical value.

With a loud, low groan Loram's RG405, "the pride of the fleet," grinds through Hays Grove in a cloud of sparks, dust and mist. The rail grinder is reshaping the railhead along the Norfolk Southern Lurgan Branch, removing defects and making a smoother, more fuel efficient trip for the freight trains that run through everyday.

The friendly crew tossed me a new crew hat at one of the crossings, which declared RG405 as being the pride of the fleet. My backlit shot exaggerates the scene but the new 400-series grinders are designed with reduced emission diesels, a "robust dust collection system" and other improvements that allow for a cleaner, faster job than before. The roadbed is soaked with water, a preventative that keeps the hot bit of metal ground off the metal rail from lighting off the wooden ties or nearby brush.

15 years ago this place was a hydraulic gold mining area, where entire hills were blasted apart by giant water canons, and reshaped into new hills made of gravel and silt. After 150 years of erosion, this is what the new, manmade hills have become. Quite lovely, really.

The work of Haris Epaminonda (*1980 Nicosia, Cyprus) is about the examination of a complex, cultural-historical cosmos. The Cypriot artist transforms collage-like combinations of photographs, films, sculptures, objects, and found objects and images into expansive installations and multi-layered narratives. Her motifs come from a wide variety of sources and leave room for numerous associations.

There is something awe inspiring about looking up in a big city with skyscrapers. On the other hand anyone who saw the sci-fi thriller movie, High Rise (2015), starring Tom Hiddleston, knows that there are darker forces lurking.

The movie is based on J.B. Ballard's visionary dystopian novel. It builds on the theme that was started by Fritz Lang with his masterpiece Metropolis in 1927. These buildings are more machines for habitation than dwellings we can call home.

There are several new edits of Lang's masterpiece Metropolis. Although originally more than 3 hours long, this silent movie has been cut and reshaped many times. Anyone interested in German cinema in the 1920s should see it. By the way, Metropolis is set in the year 2026!

One of the most interesting modern versions is the Giorgio Moroder 1984 soundtrack edition.

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Wijngaerde_(Begijnhof_Brugge):

The Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaerde (Dutch: Prinselijk Begijnhof Ten Wijngaerde) is the only preserved beguinage in the Belgian city of Bruges. There are no more Beguines living there, but since 1927 it has functioned as a convent for Benedictines, founded by canon Hoornaert. In the same year the houses at the west side were also reshaped and enlarged into the Monasterium De Wijngaard, a priory of Benedictine nuns.

Already before 1240 a community of pious women settled at the domain 'de Wingarde' (old Dutch for vineyard), in the South of the city. This name probably refers to low-lying meadows. The beguinage was founded around 1244 by Margaret of Constantinople, after she requested permission to Walter van Marvis, bishop of Tournai, to move over the tomb chapel on the Burg of Bruges to the Wijngaard. In 1245 it was recognised as an independent parish. In 1299 it came under direct authority of king Philip the Fair and it was entitled as "Princely Beguinage".

The complex includes a gothic beguinage church and about thirty white painted houses dating from the late 16th, 17th and 18th century. Practically all of these are built around a central yard. The main entrance with gate can be reached via the three-arched stone bridge, the Wijngaard Bridge. In a bay the image of the holy Elizabeth of Hungary can be seen, who was the patron of many beguinages. De Wijngaard is also devoted to Saint Alexius. The entrance gate was built in 1776 by master mason Hendrik Bultynck. The first Beguine house next to the entrance is furnished as a museum and the exhibition includes paintings, 17th and 18th century furniture and lacework, among others. A second gate gives access to the Sas House, via the Sas Bridge.

More wabi-sabi, this is a bit of genus miscanthus that grows in abundance in our back field; it has been sitting in my stinkio for several weeks, and may or may not be the same specimen that I used in Grass #16, reshaped by hanging upside down for several days, but I cannot say for sure. I'm focused here on the rather abstract form, color, and texture of the straight stem and its curled leaves. The product of a 22 image focus stack, it should reward close examination at relatively high magnification. I've gone to the white margin because I often view flickr on my phone, and there the edges of these black backgrounds are not evident.

🇬🇧 For the fountain in Cathedral Square, Martin Rainer created a bronze sculpture depicting the circle of human life from birth to death. Water is the element of life, it is a symbol of movement.

Formally, as a sculptor, he is not only interested in creating solid volumes, but above all in the interaction between the body and the surrounding space. A work of art never stops at the limits of solid matter, but projects itself into space, reshaping and redefining it. The form of Martin Rainer's artistic creations is determined by this architectural understanding of body and space, while his expression is characterised by a lyrical narrative content.

Walter Schrempf's blueprint of the building was the winner of an architecture competition in the year 1963. Then, he invited Otto Herbert Hajek to reshape his draft artificially to overcome the comtemporary paradigmatic sobriety of the 1960's. The realisation of the building started in 1966, after Hajek had presented his version to the commission of the university.

The result of the architect’s and sculptor’s collaboration is a functional modern architecture, which opens up to the technical age and uses new materials, and is also a space sculpture at the same time. Naked concrete contrasts with a vivid coloration through yellow, red and blue surfaces. Geometric elements, which are arranged like a box, determine the spatial effect. The interior is divided by plastic concrete elements in various large levels and units.

The building has been built as a "Student House" in which all services for the students are included: dining hall, administration for the students services like financial support, recreational facility, theatre hall, café, event room. All these functions are still existing today.

The building is a historical monument.

"Fantasy mirrors desire. Imagination reshapes it." Mason Mooley.

There are certain views of Bruges that have been photographed more than a million times, but that should not allow us to miss the opportunity to immortalize them with our camera. The Burgher´s Lodge reflection in the canal and the buildings next to it, is one of those famous images. At the same time, it is a place full of history and importance that constituted the commercial heart of the city. In the lodge the richest and most important burghers gathered to make decisions about international trade, which was the main source of wealth for Bruges. Today the photographer aspires to have a day without wind to capture the perfect reflection of the buildings, but in the Middle Ages it would have been much more difficult to achieve it, since this was a place of constant loading and unloading of ships.

During the sunrise that I spent there, I really enjoyed the magic of the place, and although slight gusts of wind destroyed the reflection again and again, I managed to capture it quite still on some occasion. While I waited for the sky to get better, the fantasy of the place led me to want to live in those past times that did not seem so distant, my imagination has shaped that desire to finally create this photograph, which I know that every time I look at it it will allow me to go back to that moment in Bruges and remember it forever.

---------------------------------------------

"La fantasía refleja el deseo. La imaginación lo remodela". Mason Mooley.

An old picture of the Hong Kong harbour before the real estate developments near the Elements (the building which reflects strong sunlight into the harbour) reshaped the skyline of the Kowloon Peninsula. I love this picture because the harbour is relatively quiet and a clear blue sky doesn’t appear too often on the north side of Hong Kong.

Yes, it was 41 degrees C here yesterday, with even better to come, so it is predicted.

I was out doing some watering in the garden yesterday evening and noticed this cloud overhead. It started off being the shape of Australia but as I watched, it melted. Even Tasmania started to ooze off towards the Indian Ocean.

This shot is straight out of camera but the photo doesn’t do it justice – the rays were spectacular.

A solitary church stands above the forest, surrounded by drifting fog that slowly reshapes the landscape. The hills fade in and out of view, creating a natural rhythm of layers that gives the scene both depth and stillness. Early autumn colors remain subtle, never overpowering the atmosphere.

This photograph is less about the building itself and more about its relationship with the landscape. The separation created by fog allows the eye to rest, moving gently through the frame rather than being pulled toward a single focal point. Capturing this moment meant waiting for balance between visibility and obscurity.

Scenes like this define my approach to landscape photography: calm, restrained and shaped by atmosphere rather than spectacle.
