FRPD 309, Hopper Dredger
Vessel FRPD 309 (IMO: 8200826, MMSI: 316029592) is a Hopper Dredger built in 1983 and currently sailing under the flag of Canada.
Dredging is the operation of excavating material from a water environment (sometimes temporarily created). Possible purposes of dredging include: improving existing water features; reshaping land and water features to alter drainage, navigability, and commercial use; constructing dams, dikes, and other controls for streams and shorelines; and recovering valuable mineral deposits or marine life having commercial value. In all but a few situations the excavation is undertaken by a specialist floating plant, known as a dredger. Dredging is carried out in many different locations and for many different purposes, but the main objectives are usually to recover material of value or use, or to create a greater depth of water. Dredges have been classified as suction or mechanical.

Once the river Kamnitz was flowing unburdened and fast at this point through the valley of the Edmundsklamm. But the years had erode the scarps. One day, many years ego, a large rock detached from the walls causing an avalanche. When the tons of sandstone rocks came to rest, they blocked a big part of the river bed. Since then a barrier laying here and the water had to build its way around. Over many years nature reshaped that place to a piece of art what is here shining in the light of the morning sun.
The fog moved very quickly and kept reshaping the forest. What was visible one second disappeared the next and what was not visible became visible.

As the sun rose, a light pillar appeared, a phenomenon created by the reflection of light from tiny ice crystals that were suspended in the atmosphere.
If you compare this with the last photo that I posted, "Carving In The Sky" (taken 14 minutes earlier), you shall see the sky looked completely different. The sweeping wind and rising sun constantly doing a great job to shape and reshape our early morning sky.

Another storm and another cliff collapse have reshaped the coastline at Tongaporotu. The sea stacks called the Tree Sisters are holding up for the time being. When the oldest sister disappeared into the waves, the youngest sister was born out of the receding cliff and has only recently separated from it.
“She righted herself, her balance returning. Had she really thought the world didn't change? She was a fool. The world was made of miracles, unexpected earthquakes, storms that came from nowhere and might reshape a continent. The boy beside her. The future before her. Anything was possible.”

The Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaerde is the only preserved beguinage in the Belgian city of Bruges. There are no more Beguines living there, but since 1927 it has functioned as a convent for Benedictines, founded by canon Hoornaert. In the same year the houses at the west side were also reshaped and enlarged into the Monasterium De Wijngaard, a priory of Benedictine nuns.
Already before 1240 a community of pious women settled at the domain 'de Wingarde' (old Dutch for vineyard), in the South of the city. This name probably refers to low-lying meadows. The beguinage was founded around 1244 by Margaret of Constantinople, after she requested permission to Walter van Marvis, bishop of Tournai, to move over the tomb chapel on the Burg of Bruges to the Wijngaard. In 1245 it was recognised as an independent parish. In 1299 it came under direct authority of king Philip the Fair and it was entitled as "Princely Beguinage".
The complex includes a gothic beguinage church and about thirty white painted houses dating from the late 16th, 17th and 18th century. Practically all of these are built around a central yard. The main entrance with gate can be reached via the three-arched stone bridge, the Wijngaard Bridge. In a bay the image of the holy Elizabeth of Hungary can be seen, who was the patron of many beguinages. De Wijngaard is also devoted to Saint Alexius. The entrance gate was built in 1776 by master mason Hendrik Bultynck. The first Beguine house next to the entrance is furnished as a museum and the exhibition includes paintings, 17th and 18th century furniture and lacework, among others. A second gate gives access to the Sas House, via the Sas Bridge.

Small shop just outside the temple Taishakuten in Shibamata, Tokyo. Where you can buy all sorts of things: calendars (at least according to the sign hanging by the man's legs), manekineko (beckoning cats), incense. And porcelain snakes (next to the cats). That is due to that temple next door. Taishakuten's main deity is Indra - reshaped in a Buddhist mould - and he is famous for having killed a fearsome snake demon!

The rare rain that comes to Death Valley usually arrives in downpours, which form the rills and gullies that reshape the landscape.
This large wash near Zabriskie Point was most recently flooded in August 2004, by a powerful that killed two people and destroyed a stretch of California state Route 190. It took eight months and $10 million to reopen the road.

fungus (plural: fungi or funguses is any member of the group of eukaryotic organisms that includes microorganisms such as yeasts and molds, as well as the more familiar mushrooms. These organisms are classified as a kingdom, separately from the other eukaryotic kingdoms, which by one traditional classification include Plantae, Animalia, Protozoa, and Chromista.
A characteristic that places fungi in a different kingdom from plants, bacteria, and some protists is chitin in their cell walls. Fungi, like animals, are heterotrophs; they acquire their food by absorbing dissolved molecules, typically by secreting digestive enzymes into their environment. Fungi do not photosynthesize. Growth is their means of mobility, except for spores (a few of which are flagellated), which may travel through the air or water. Fungi are the principal decomposers in ecological systems. These and other differences place fungi in a single group of related organisms, named the Eumycota (true fungi or Eumycetes), that share a common ancestor (i.e. they form a monophyletic group), an interpretation that is also strongly supported by molecular phylogenetics. This fungal group is distinct from the structurally similar myxomycetes (slime molds) and oomycetes (water molds). The discipline of biology devoted to the study of fungi is known as mycology (from the Greek μύκης mykes, mushroom). In the past, mycology was regarded as a branch of botany, although it is now known fungi are genetically more closely related to animals than to plants.
Abundant worldwide, most fungi are inconspicuous because of the small size of their structures, and their cryptic lifestyles in soil or on dead matter. Fungi include symbionts of plants, animals, or other fungi and also parasites. They may become noticeable when fruiting, either as mushrooms or as molds. Fungi perform an essential role in the decomposition of organic matter and have fundamental roles in nutrient cycling and exchange in the environment. They have long been used as a direct source of human food, in the form of mushrooms and truffles; as a leavening agent for bread; and in the fermentation of various food products, such as wine, beer, and soy sauce. Since the 1940s, fungi have been used for the production of antibiotics, and, more recently, various enzymes produced by fungi are used industrially and in detergents. Fungi are also used as biological pesticides to control weeds, plant diseases and insect pests. Many species produce bioactive compounds called mycotoxins, such as alkaloids and polyketides, that are toxic to animals including humans. The fruiting structures of a few species contain psychotropic compounds and are consumed recreationally or in traditional spiritual ceremonies. Fungi can break down manufactured materials and buildings, and become significant pathogens of humans and other animals. Losses of crops due to fungal diseases (e.g., rice blast disease) or food spoilage can have a large impact on human food supplies and local economies.
The fungus kingdom encompasses an enormous diversity of taxa with varied ecologies, life cycle strategies, and morphologies ranging from unicellular aquatic chytrids to large mushrooms. However, little is known of the true biodiversity of Kingdom Fungi, which has been estimated at 2.2 million to 3.8 million species.[5] Of these, only about 148,000 have been described,[6] with over 8,000 species known to be detrimental to plants and at least 300 that can be pathogenic to humans.[7] Ever since the pioneering 18th and 19th century taxonomical works of Carl Linnaeus, Christiaan Hendrik Persoon, and Elias Magnus Fries, fungi have been classified according to their morphology (e.g., characteristics such as spore color or microscopic features) or physiology. Advances in molecular genetics have opened the way for DNA analysis to be incorporated into taxonomy, which has sometimes challenged the historical groupings based on morphology and other traits. Phylogenetic studies published in the first decade of the 21st century have helped reshape the classification within Kingdom Fungi, which is divided into one subkingdom, seven phyla, and ten subphyla.

A place where the forces of nature have fought their battles for thousands of years
Although it is a beautiful area of natural wonders, it is also a meeting place, or shall we say a battlefield, of natural forces. Over the centuries and even thousands of years, and day after day, the Atlantic Ocean attacks the land, the coastline, and little by little it breaks away and reshapes the beach, the cliffs, and the stacks. Everyone needs to remember that, although the waves may seem innocent, they are mighty, strong, and sometimes very dangerous. Caution is necessary, especially when the tide is high and the winds are strong. We must also remember that waves are not of equal size. Each 14-20th wave in the Atlantic Ocean is considerably bigger than the others and floods higher up the beach. The waves are very deceptive, and everyone should be careful and not take any risks. When you look west towards Dyrhólaey and then east towards the stacks of Reynisdrangar, you can see the cliffs made of solid rock and in the middle the barrier made of volcanic ash. The geological material that the ocean longs to demolish, but the volcanic island continues to add to and combat the power of the sea.

Pig Iron — Pig iron is iron in its basic, raw form, which is molded into blocks, otherwise known as pigs.
Cast Iron — cast iron is an alloy with very high carbon content, which is melted, poured, and allowed to cool and harden. It’s often used for producing structural shapes.
Wrought Iron — wrought iron has a lower carbon content and plenty of impurities, which makes it softer than cast iron, allowing you to reheat and reshape the metal.
The main difference between Iron and Steel is that the former is a naturally occurring element, while the latter is an alloy of IRON and carbon — something that doesn't naturally occur. Steel is stronger than iron in the domains of yield and tensile strength, but it's also significantly tougher.

Heard what a prolific predator the woodpecker can be so tried my own little test this passed April . A fox had dug out a rat nest out of a bank overnight so Iput on my disposable gloves (please wear gloves around rats weils disease or nova virus etc can kill you as I almost found out ).
I placed the nest on a post and reshaped it so it looked somewhat wren nest like. Within minutes this male woodpecker came in quietly making his way up post to the nest listening intently then completely obliterated the nest .This is the 1st of a few shots.
Just shows the woodpecker can be every bit a predator as fox ,squirrel ,hawk or crow I found watching this fascinating and a real eye opener !
At Mount Psiloritis (Idi) in central Crete lies the Nida plateau, at an altitude of 1450 meters.
"The formation of the mountain and its landscape is a continuous and never ending process that even nowadays is reshaping the mountain. The tremendous forces of the
Earth which created land in the past and raised up the mountains to their present altitude are depicted on the numerous faults and folds of the rocks ..... the formation of the mountains 30 million years ago and which today occur within high pressure metamorphosed rocks.
All this wealth of the landscape and Earth which is concentrated on Mount Psiloritis, with its great variety in shapes and combinations, together with man who loved this
place and adorned it with his creations and activities, constitute the geodiversity of the mountain. It is a heritage of the Earth itself and its processes that till recently only
shepherds and rare travelers could admire.
Today, through the Psiloritis geopark, this natural heritage is under protection and enhancement and is used as another tool for the sustainable and responsible development of this area.

This image is supposed to represent the forces that chip away at and reshape our memory. Memories can shift, skew, rewrite themselves, fade away. Our memories are not perfect or permanent. How many eye witnesses truly recall all of the details of the event they saw first hand? We all store away and interpret the same situation differently. Just discuss some past event and it's hard to get a true consensus of what happened. Is it better to remember the truth as is or as we want it to be? What makes for a happier life?
As women slowly gain power, their values and priorities are reshaping the agenda. A multitude of studies show that when women control the family funds, they generally spend more on health, nutrition, and education - and less on alcohol and cigarettes.

Verbascum nigrum
The slender, tall, ascending flower stalks of the mulleins are an eye-catching sight in midsummer, but also after flowering in autumn and into winter. The Black Mullein, Verbascum nigrum, is a striking plant on the roadsides and medians of highways, in dry grasslands, and on rough areas such as river dikes. During flowering, the beautiful yellow flowers stand out in the spike-shaped inflorescence. The whole cluster resembles a large, multi-branched candelabra with candles.

LIU Wei, plastic bags (2017), 120x240 cm
LIU Wei repurposes everyday materials to explore perception, societal contradictions and environmental impact by transforming post-industrial objects – especially plastic bags – into intricate wire mesh artworks. Glossy, vibrant and cheap but, simultaneously, toxic plastic bags embody both convenience and ecological harm. Through months of meticulous labour, LIU reshapes the waste materials into luminous forms, questioning whether discarded remnants of modern life can find redemption through artistic reconfiguration.
His work invites reflection on the long-term consequences of industrialisation, as the PVC in his objects takes a millennium to degrade. While these artworks will ultimately vanish, their message endures, offering a striking meditation on waste, permanence and the role of art in confronting crises.
