Good thing I got my shot when I did. As the train arrived an employee got off the train and asked me for my permit. "Permit?", I said. He explained to me that I needed a permit from CTA in order to have my camera and tripod on the platform. "Oh ok... I'm from Ohio..." As I left the platform area another employee asked me what company I was with. I figured playing dumb was the best way to be. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through just for a shot or two. Having the shot I wanted I didn't stand around to debate the public place angle.

another photo from the kiddy pool; i dont like this one as much but i still wanted to post it :)

Room at the abandoned Carrollton Inn in historic Mt. Carroll,IL. Bring your own sheets, respirator advised....

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for an anniversary night about 15 years ago-I say 2001,she says 2002,go figure-in slightly better times. We even got a free bottle of champagne...

The Carrollton was originally built as a dorm for defunct Shimer College, which moved to Chicago in the late '70s.

Sign of the times (boom boom)

well here's most of the avengers, missing the Hulk but he's not out yet, Hawkeye is the only one actually wearing his avengers uniform, Cap is next to be released I believe, but Thor, Iron Man and the Hulk aren't due out until next year so until then these'll have to do

Low tide in Potton Creek

I was too focused on capturing the collection of remarkable images on a two-tiered bank of vending machines to pay sufficient attention to the products.

That's how I made the biggest blunder of the trip when I didn't buy a set of "Cute Cute Cat Headgear" as a souvenier for Ollie.

To be practical, the kit should include a supply of disinfectant and bandages for the cat's human associate. There's no way Ollie would submit to the amount of handling required to fit that headgear.

Very bright street art on a back street in Bethnal Green ...

Built an igloo, and slept in it. My first time.

One fact I'll share with you - block making is easier than block placing. ;)

Woodcut and stencil on mylar and stencil on rice paper, by street artist ELBOW-TOE. Work for an upcoming show. The text on the piece reads "Every time I hear a plane, I still look up and fear the worst."

The builders are checking the spouting and roof. Instead of scaffolding or ladders to obtain access, they are using drones. Makes good sense to me.

Took some tables out of storage. Now the fun part begins.

Focus stack, 33 image. Shot with two off-camera strobes (Leica SF 60/Leica SF C1 trigger). Flash A camera right a modified with MagMod MagGrid. Flash B unmodified on boom over subject.

...because the pigeons know a secret way in and out.

See how long you can look into my eyes for :o)

Sorry another Common Darter, this was a head on shot, I did try this as a stack but this one wouldn't stop chewing, maybe when I eventually get Zerene I will be able to do the stack and make the required edits, so for know this is a single frame image, but I like the mesmerising look of this female Sympetrum striolatum, it was either this or more Springtails LOL :o)

This was another fill in flash experiment with an ISO of 800 and 1/60 exposure, flash in TTL mode. I'm thinking of experimenting with cross polarised flash, I just need to get some polarised film to put infront of my flash, I already have a Circular Polariser for my MP-E, apparently you can cut out a lot of the reflections on the surface of your subject, any hints or tips appreciated :o)

Major projects are generally not easy and require a lot of work and dedication but when we achieve the goal is so great that all that effort worthwhile.

Thank you for stopping by, have a great week ahead!
