This is a photograph from the 14th annual Daingean Festival 5KM Road Race and Fun Run held in Daingean, Co. Offaly, on Friday 2nd August 2013 at 19:30. The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village (see below). The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 180 participants
Weather: Whilst there was a threat of thundery showers the evening was dry and humid with temperatures around 18C. The runners had a breeze in their faces for the first 2 km but this turned to a tail breeze for the remainder of the race.
Course: The race starts at the Canal at the Edenderry road end of the village. The race then proceeds to do one full loop of the Circular road and then proceeds out the main Tullamore road. At 3KM the course takes a series of right turns which brings the race back to the finish just off the main street opposite the hall.

Refreshments: There was a very impressive selection of refreshments provided for participants in the village hall afterwards.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Mt. Tianzishan - loss of words - is a forest of densely sandstone peaks, enjoys reputations as "the king of all mountains", a "kingdom" of peaks and a "sea" of summits.
A saying about Mt. Tianzishan goes: "Being not Yellow Mountain(Huangshan) but better than it." The landscape here varies in different seasons and also in a day, which makes Mt. Tianzishan a very unique and spectacular site.
In bygone days, the elderly would say, "Once you have seen the five holy mountains*, you will lose interest in all others, but once you have viewed Yellow Mountain(Huangshan) , the five holy mountains will lose their allure." However, today's saying exclaims, "Once you behold the awesome face of Mt. Tianzishan, it is unnecessary to venture elsewhere!"

"Reputation"? This film is known in English as "Antonio das Mortes". A strict translation would be "The Dragon of Evil Against the Warrior Saint". It has high status as an Art House film, but I found it empty and absurd.
This is a photograph from the Robbie Byrne Memorial 5KM Road Race, Fun Run and Walk which was held at Claremont Stadium, Commons Road, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland on Sunday 27th December 2015 at 12:00. After several years of this race being a 6KM road race the Navan AC hosts decided to revert back to a 5KM race around a very well known loop starting on the Commons road in the direction of the town and then going across Clogherboy Park and and then left onto the old Athboy road before turning left again and returning back over the Commons and onto the Commons Road and finishing on the track within Claremont Stadium. This loop was used in the annual St. Stephen's Day 10KM road race which was held in Navan for many years. The loop was also used in many county, provincial and national championship races over the years. So the return of road racing on it will brought back memories for many veteran runners and a fair and fast route for all participants. The race is run as a memorial to Robbie Byrne and has the primary goal of raising some funds for the upkeep and development of the track facilities at the track at Claremont stadium. The event is sponsored by Robert Byrne Hair Salon in Navan town. Different to the weather of the past weeks today was perfect for road racing with a cold bright day.
As is now the tradition and the reputation of Meath Athletics Club races there was a wonderful spread of refreshments and foods afterwards provided in the sports hall. Showers and changing facilities were also provided. The main sponsor is Robert Byrne Hairdressing.

In 1917, faced with better quality Allied fighters, the German Luftstreitskrafte issued a requirement for a new fighter. Fokker responded with its V11. Though Fokker had a good reputation, his new design looked ungainly: the wings were thicker than usual, the fuselage boxy, and the engine a flat block; it was not sleek like the triplane Dr.I or the Albatros D.V. Manfred von Richthofen, the famous "Red Baron," was invited to fly the prototype, and his evaluation was that it needed modification. The fuselage was lengthened and the tail redesigned, which met Richthofen's satisfaction. The design, designated Fokker D.VII, entered production in January 1918.
It soon proved to be arguably the finest fighter of World War I, and certainly the best German design. It was tough due to its thick wings, maneuverable, and superb in the vertical--it could handle dives that would shred a Dr.I, and outclimb the Sopwith Camel. D.VII pilots learned they could skid the tail and fire upwards into an enemy aircraft without loss of control. It was also remarkably easy to fly, an important factor for new pilots entering the war. In August 1918 alone, D.VIIs shot down over 550 Allied aircraft. Though the Allies fielded their own fighters capable of fighting the D.VII, it was just as well that the war ended in November 1918, because the Germans were threatening to achieve air superiority for the first time since 1915.
Though the Treaty of Versailles made a point of destroying all Fokker D.VIIs, quite a few survived, taken as war prizes by the Allies or exported to other nations. Poland would use them in combat in the 1920 Russo-Polish War, and it would equip several other European air forces into the 1920s. None flyable survive, though seven are in museums; reproductions are fairly common, however.
This D.VII is a reproduction, painted in the colors of Jasta 18; this squadron produced about a dozen aces, including one of its commanders, the one-handed Rudolf Berthold (44 kills). This replica is displayed over an amazing (and chilling) diorama of some American soldiers trying to get a wounded man out under fire at night at the National World War I Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.

Ocean Springs, Mississippi
The town has a reputation as an arts community. Its historic and secluded downtown area, with streets lined by live oak trees, is home to several art galleries and shops.
The settlement of Fort Maurepas or Old Biloxi, in colonial French Louisiana (New France), began in April 1699 at present-day Ocean Springs, under the authority of King Louis XIV, as Fort Maurepas by Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville. It was the first permanent French outpost in French Louisiana and was established as a foothold to prevent Spanish encroachment on France's colonial claims. The site was maintained well into the early 18th century.
The name Ocean Springs was coined by Dr. William Glover Austin in 1854. He believed the local springs had healing qualities. Ocean Springs became a prosperous resort town and after several years reinvented itself as a history oriented residential community. The history of the town is celebrated annually in reenactments depicting d'Iberville's landing near a replica of Fort Maurepas.
Ocean Springs was the hometown of the late Walter Inglis Anderson, a nationally renowned painter and muralist who died in 1965 from lung cancer. The town plays host to several festivals, including its Peter Anderson Festival and The Herb Festival.
Ocean Springs was severely damaged on August 29, 2005, by Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed many buildings along the shoreline, including the Ocean Springs Yacht Club, and the historic wooden Fort Maurepas.

The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village (see below). The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience.

Course: The race starts at the Canal at the Edenderry road end of the village. The race then proceeds to do one full loop of the Circular road and then proceeds out the main Tullamore road. At 3KM the course takes a series of right turns which brings the race back to the finish just off the main street opposite the hall.

Raval’s dark reputation seems to precede it and the area is often overlooked when thinking about where to stay in Barcelona. It may not be the safest or the cleanest area in Barcelona but it does have a special personality and character all of its own that makes this area a compelling visit.
El Raval is a lively, multi-cultural neighbourhood with a huge variety of tempting cafes, restaurants and bars. The area has also become fashionable and hosts a wide variety of art studios, galleries and trendy bookshops, not to mention the imposing MACBA (museum of modern art) and CCCB which is the neighbouring exhibition centre.
Shopping is a pleasure in El Raval thanks to the unique boutiques that line some of the streets giving you a truly unique shopping experience. Unlike Eixample with its large branded labels, Raval is home to the small privately owned shops selling clothes you can’t find anywhere else.
In terms of location, El Raval gives you fantastic access to many of the city’s main attractions which are within walking distance.Staying in El Raval also means that you are situated between two of Barcelona’s famous food markets, La Boqueria on Las Ramblas and Mercat Sant Antoni. The Australian Museum is the oldest museum in Australia, with an international reputation in the fields of natural history and anthropology. It features collections of vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, as well as mineralogy, palaeontology, and anthropology. Apart from exhibitions, the museum is also involved in indigenous studies research and community programs.
It is located in College Street, Sydney and was originally known as the Colonial Museum or Sydney Museum. The museum was renamed in June 1836 by a Sub-Committee meeting, when it was resolved during an argument that it should be renamed the Australian Museum.
The first location of the museum was likely a room in the offices of the Colonial Secretary, although for the next 30 years it moved to several other locations in Sydney, until moving into its current location in 1849.
The current handsome Neoclassical sandstone building, on the corner of College and Park Streets, opposite Hyde Park, was first opened to the public in May 1857. It was designed by the New South Wales Colonial Architect James Barnet. The first chairman of the museum was William Holmes, who was appointed on 16 June 1829.
The Skeleton Gallery is in the original part of the Museum. It is a double-height space overlooked by first- and second-floor mezzanines. Its 100 skeletons - including the horseman and the rocking-chair man and his dog - occupy a traditional space of dark timber and muted tones, lit to reveal its best features.
Showcasing over 10 full scale skeletons, Dinosaurs are brought to life through dramatic lighting, projected scenery and astounding specimens. The impressive life-size models include feathered dinosaurs from China, as well as a diverse range of carnivore and herbivore dinosaur skulls and skeletons - from the well-known T-Rex to the bizarre Cryolophosaurus discovered in Antarctica.
Fossils are our window into the past. The word ‘fossil’ comes from the Latin word fossus, which means ‘dug up’. This refers to the fact that fossils are the remains of past life preserved in rock, soil or amber. Generally, the remains were once the hard parts of an organism, such as bones and shell although, under exceptional circumstances, soft tissues have also fossilised.
Carrodus 1743.
We are making this violin for a valued client who has already had a number of instruments from me. My client was a student of Max Rostal and greatly admires his sound, both in memory of it and as caught in recordings. It is a great sound, having all the qualities of depth and brilliance and perfect balance across the strings.
We wanted to capture all of these qualities and, after conversation both with my client and an experienced soloist, decided to focus on the Carrodus (formerly the property of John Henry Tiplady Carrodus b 1836; d 1895), now played by Richard Tognetti - Leader of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Its reputation as one of the greatest ‘del Gesù’ violins is a constant challange and provocation for us.
We have used a nitric acid wood treatment and also a special silicate hardening process to facilitate brightness and movement in the wood.
St Mary, Coddenham, Suffolk
Coddenham has a reputation for being one of the poshest villages in Suffolk; within commuting distance of Ipswich for executives and businessmen, but beyond the reach of anyone ordinary. Despite this, the people in the shop seemed very friendly, and a poster in the window for village hall line-dancing sessions presented a side of the place I’d never imagined.
It is a very old village. The layout of the streets reflects this; there’s something not quite right about it. The blind corner opposite the shop was not meant for modern traffic, and the way the roads twist out of the village and into the fields seems stubborn, as if they do not want to conform to the needs of the modern world, but prefer to reflect something that was before, and is now gone. It may be that this is something to do with the fact that Coddenham was almost certainly the largest Roman settlement in Suffolk, at a time when Bury and Ipswich were tiny hamlets, and Lowestoft probably did not even exist.
A big clue that things were not always the way they are now is the 15th century porch on the side of St Mary. Instead of being perpendicular to the north aisle, as is usual, it is uniquely angled to face up the village street, at about sixty degrees to the north wall. At one time, the purpose of the street must have been simply to take the Faithful into the body of the church. Now, it approaches as before, but suddenly veers away wildly around the churchyard and down the hill. At one time, liturgical processions must have used it, but it isn’t clear if it was the Reformation that made the change, or a pressing need for villagers to get to Hemingstone in a hurry.
This was an important place on the eve of the Reformation. The clerestory is one of the most beautiful in Suffolk, particularly because it is not very long. It rises like battlements of lace, and the inscription reads orate pro animae Johannis Frenche et Margaret ('Pray for the souls of John and Margaret French'). At the east end of the north aisle is a gorgeous fat red-brick rood stair case, that obviously postdates the windows either side of it.
Wandering around to the east, I found the memorial to the 17th century Minister Matthias Candler. His firebrand Puritanism would have important consequences for Suffolk churchcrawlers. One of his parishioners was William Dowsing, who had a house in this village, although actually just over the border in Baylham parish. Dowsing learned to be a thorough-going protestant at the feet of Candler’s pulpit; in 1644, Dowsing would make a journey through Suffolk and Cambridgeshire on behalf of the Earl of Manchester, wrecking sacramental imagery in more than 250 churches. Candler died in 1663 while still Rector, which suggests that the Restoration of three years earlier had not been dramatic, or that Candler was a wily enough character to survive it.
I stepped through into a wide, urbanised nave, very much the product of a 19th century restoration under the watchful eyes of Richard Phipson. The 15th century brought glamorous aisles and the soaring clerestory; but this must have been a small church once, and the nave is now as wide as it is long. Beyond it, a vast 19th century chancel stretches so far that it doubles the length of the church; it was rebuilt in 1840, and then greatly extended in 1893 by the Anglo-catholics. It was clearly meant as a statement that sacramental liturgical practices were back. Candler and Dowsing must have turned in their graves.
If, externally, the clerestory is breathtaking, the internal glory of St Mary is undoubtedly the roof. It is very late medieval, probably 15th century, but Mortlock thought it might be 16th century. It is an unstained double hammerbeam roof, not quite so steeply pitched as is common in Suffolk. Angels gaze down from the gloom.
There are plenty of hatchments, for those who like that kind of thing, mostly to the Bacon family, one of Suffolk's most significant landed families. They also have a number of memorials, and even a window designed by one of them, the Pre-Raphaelite Percy Bacon.

This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 20:00. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC who have a catchment area in this part of rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 420 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing. The very changeable and unseasonably weather of late made for an unpredictable night weather wise. A shower of hail fell on runners between 2KM and 3KM and yet this shower didn't fall on the finish area at the Hamlet Court Hotel.
This race is part of the annual Meath Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The Na Fianna club, who organise the race, have a catchment area of South Meath and North West Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan in County Meath. This road race has grown from strength to strength year on year and is now one of the premier 5KM races in Ireland and one of the top club attended races in Leinster. The race starts on the busy Enfield to Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants.

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

This is a photograph from the 14th annual Daingean Festival 5KM Road Race and Fun Run held in Daingean, Co. Offaly, on Friday 2nd August 2013 at 19:30. The race is held annually on the Friday before the August bank holiday weekend and over the years has built a solid reputation as a challenging 5KM. Several former olympians have set course record times on the course as well as personal bests for many other runners over the years. This year the course changed from it's traditional 4 laps of Daingean village (see below). The race also benefits from the fantastic support of athletes from the running clubs of Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, and beyond.
Congratulations to all of the organising committee, those from Tullamore Harriers and Naomh Mhuire AC who assisted with race organisation, and the local community who come out in strength to offer support and encouragement to the runners. The race marks one of the first events in the annual Daingean Music and Holiday Festival. The Daingean 5KM road race is an example of a small local race which year-in year-out attracts a quality field for all categories whilst also providing a great opportunity for those new to running to sample a race experience.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was about 180 participants
Weather: Whilst there was a threat of thundery showers the evening was dry and humid with temperatures around 18C. The runners had a breeze in their faces for the first 2 km but this turned to a tail breeze for the remainder of the race.
Course: The race starts at the Canal at the Edenderry road end of the village. The race then proceeds to do one full loop of the Circular road and then proceeds out the main Tullamore road. At 3KM the course takes a series of right turns which brings the race back to the finish just off the main street opposite the hall.

This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 20:00. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC who have a catchment area in this part of rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 420 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing. The very changeable and unseasonably weather of late made for an unpredictable night weather wise. A shower of hail fell on runners between 2KM and 3KM and yet this shower didn't fall on the finish area at the Hamlet Court Hotel.
This race is part of the annual Meath Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The Na Fianna club, who organise the race, have a catchment area of South Meath and North West Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan in County Meath. This road race has grown from strength to strength year on year and is now one of the premier 5KM races in Ireland and one of the top club attended races in Leinster. The race starts on the busy Enfield to Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants.

St Mary, Coddenham, Suffolk
Coddenham has a reputation for being one of the poshest villages in Suffolk; within commuting distance of Ipswich for executives and businessmen, but beyond the reach of anyone ordinary. Despite this, the people in the shop seemed very friendly, and a poster in the window for village hall line-dancing sessions presented a side of the place I’d never imagined.
It is a very old village. The layout of the streets reflects this; there’s something not quite right about it. The blind corner opposite the shop was not meant for modern traffic, and the way the roads twist out of the village and into the fields seems stubborn, as if they do not want to conform to the needs of the modern world, but prefer to reflect something that was before, and is now gone. It may be that this is something to do with the fact that Coddenham was almost certainly the largest Roman settlement in Suffolk, at a time when Bury and Ipswich were tiny hamlets, and Lowestoft probably did not even exist.
A big clue that things were not always the way they are now is the 15th century porch on the side of St Mary. Instead of being perpendicular to the north aisle, as is usual, it is uniquely angled to face up the village street, at about sixty degrees to the north wall. At one time, the purpose of the street must have been simply to take the Faithful into the body of the church. Now, it approaches as before, but suddenly veers away wildly around the churchyard and down the hill. At one time, liturgical processions must have used it, but it isn’t clear if it was the Reformation that made the change, or a pressing need for villagers to get to Hemingstone in a hurry.
This was an important place on the eve of the Reformation. The clerestory is one of the most beautiful in Suffolk, particularly because it is not very long. It rises like battlements of lace, and the inscription reads orate pro animae Johannis Frenche et Margaret ('Pray for the souls of John and Margaret French'). At the east end of the north aisle is a gorgeous fat red-brick rood stair case, that obviously postdates the windows either side of it.
Wandering around to the east, I found the memorial to the 17th century Minister Matthias Candler. His firebrand Puritanism would have important consequences for Suffolk churchcrawlers. One of his parishioners was William Dowsing, who had a house in this village, although actually just over the border in Baylham parish. Dowsing learned to be a thorough-going protestant at the feet of Candler’s pulpit; in 1644, Dowsing would make a journey through Suffolk and Cambridgeshire on behalf of the Earl of Manchester, wrecking sacramental imagery in more than 250 churches. Candler died in 1663 while still Rector, which suggests that the Restoration of three years earlier had not been dramatic, or that Candler was a wily enough character to survive it.
I stepped through into a wide, urbanised nave, very much the product of a 19th century restoration under the watchful eyes of Richard Phipson. The 15th century brought glamorous aisles and the soaring clerestory; but this must have been a small church once, and the nave is now as wide as it is long. Beyond it, a vast 19th century chancel stretches so far that it doubles the length of the church; it was rebuilt in 1840, and then greatly extended in 1893 by the Anglo-catholics. It was clearly meant as a statement that sacramental liturgical practices were back. Candler and Dowsing must have turned in their graves.
If, externally, the clerestory is breathtaking, the internal glory of St Mary is undoubtedly the roof. It is very late medieval, probably 15th century, but Mortlock thought it might be 16th century. It is an unstained double hammerbeam roof, not quite so steeply pitched as is common in Suffolk. Angels gaze down from the gloom.
There are plenty of hatchments, for those who like that kind of thing, mostly to the Bacon family, one of Suffolk's most significant landed families. They also have a number of memorials, and even a window designed by one of them, the Pre-Raphaelite Percy Bacon.
The Australian Museum is the oldest museum in Australia, with an international reputation in the fields of natural history and anthropology. It features collections of vertebrate and invertebrate zoology, as well as mineralogy, palaeontology, and anthropology. Apart from exhibitions, the museum is also involved in indigenous studies research and community programs.
It is located in College Street, Sydney and was originally known as the Colonial Museum or Sydney Museum. The museum was renamed in June 1836 by a Sub-Committee meeting, when it was resolved during an argument that it should be renamed the Australian Museum.
The first location of the museum was likely a room in the offices of the Colonial Secretary, although for the next 30 years it moved to several other locations in Sydney, until moving into its current location in 1849.
The current handsome Neoclassical sandstone building, on the corner of College and Park Streets, opposite Hyde Park, was first opened to the public in May 1857. It was designed by the New South Wales Colonial Architect James Barnet. The first chairman of the museum was William Holmes, who was appointed on 16 June 1829.
The Skeleton Gallery is in the original part of the Museum. It is a double-height space overlooked by first- and second-floor mezzanines. Its 100 skeletons - including the horseman and the rocking-chair man and his dog - occupy a traditional space of dark timber and muted tones, lit to reveal its best features.
Showcasing over 10 full scale skeletons, Dinosaurs are brought to life through dramatic lighting, projected scenery and astounding specimens. The impressive life-size models include feathered dinosaurs from China, as well as a diverse range of carnivore and herbivore dinosaur skulls and skeletons - from the well-known T-Rex to the bizarre Cryolophosaurus discovered in Antarctica.
Fossils are our window into the past. The word ‘fossil’ comes from the Latin word fossus, which means ‘dug up’. This refers to the fact that fossils are the remains of past life preserved in rock, soil or amber. Generally, the remains were once the hard parts of an organism, such as bones and shell although, under exceptional circumstances, soft tissues have also fossilised.
This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 20:00. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC who have a catchment area in this part of rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 420 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing. The very changeable and unseasonably weather of late made for an unpredictable night weather wise. A shower of hail fell on runners between 2KM and 3KM and yet this shower didn't fall on the finish area at the Hamlet Court Hotel.
This race is part of the annual Meath Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The Na Fianna club, who organise the race, have a catchment area of South Meath and North West Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan in County Meath. This road race has grown from strength to strength year on year and is now one of the premier 5KM races in Ireland and one of the top club attended races in Leinster. The race starts on the busy Enfield to Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Bennie Blades from the University of Miami, played 10 seasons in the NFL. During his time with the Detroit Lions, his reputation around the league stood out as he was and remains considered one of the most athletic, intelligent, intense and physical defensive backs ever in the NFL.
In college, Blades was the 1987 Jim Thorpe Award winner (Best College Defensive Back In America), a two-time First Team All-American, a National champion, a team captain and more. Since college, Blades has been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame, The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame and The University of Miami Football Ring of Honor.
With the third overall pick in the 1988 NFL Draft, The Detroit Lions selected Blades, who went on to earn NFL All-Rookie honors for the 1988 season. Known for his hard hits and aggressive play, Blades was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1991 in addition to receiving First-Team All-NFL and First-team All-NFC honors. He was the Lions’ Defensive MVP in 1992 and led the team with 132 tackles in 1996, which was one of three 100-tackle seasons he had for the Lions.
Blades was a key component to a Lions’ defense that helped the team claim the 1991 NFC Central title and a berth in the NFC Championship game, along with three other playoff appearances in the 1990s.
Perhaps one game that truly exemplified Bennie Blades as a “football warrior” was against the Packers at the old Milwaukee County Stadium November 6, 1994. Blades, who entered the game banged-up with sore ankles and a shoulder injury, actually played significant time filling in at a linebacker position. Blades was all over the field, recording a team-high 10 tackles, a sack and also recovered a fumble.
