Panther chameleons are very diverse in colour and pattern, depending on the region in which they are found in the tropical forests of north western Madagascar. Even within the same region variations can be found. As its name indicates, this one is found in the Ambilobe region.
Males can grow as long as 20 inches and are twice the size of females, which tend to be less vibrantly coloured. Some of their peculiar features include: eyes which can rotate, focus and move independently from each other; toes which are fused together, enabling them to grip narrow branches; and exceedingly long tongues, which extend rapidly from their mouths, hitting prey at lightening speeds.

This male seemed to be the deepest bass vibrato in the area. The finer concentric circles in the water are from the vibration of his mating call. This behavior continues on into May when the mating begins, routinely in the evening. I don't usually photograph gators unless they are displaying an interesting behavior and this was one of those times.
What an outstanding find in the Okavango Delta:
you can see a very old Nile Crocodile that was resting next to the waterfront with the mouth widely opened. As a local told us it was a male of about 6 meter or a little more and so about 80-90 years old. As there are not much teeth left in his mouth the age - and so as well the size - must be well estimated...
I couldn't turn my head of this amazing creature..
Even though the Watersnake is harmless, I kind of check where I stand or sit down in that area.... you never know which rock they will come out from....
The biggest of the three is the female and the other two are males.
Fascinating creature, photographed at ZSL London Zoo.
Thanks for all views, comments and fave adds. Very much appreciated.
