This female brown anole, backlit by the morning sun, takes the frequently preferred head down position from a vantage point above my garden while she surveys her territory for rivals, mates, and meals. I like that brown anoles are aggressive insectivores in my garden, but they also ferociously compete with and have displaced other niche denizens including green anoles, day geckos, and skinks. Brown anole (Anolis sagrei) native to Cuba.
This snake is way smaller than it looks in this image. I had to get as close as I could focus, just a couple cm away, so it would fill the frame. Ringnecks are incredibly docile too. It's surprising they can survive in the wild world they live in. I guess the same could be said for all of us.
Heading outside in below freezing temperatures allows me to find new delights. This covering of ice looked similar to a reptile's skin. I didn't even mind having frozen fingers while taking pictures.

Like most species of chameleons, the panther chameleon is very territorial. It spends the majority of its life in isolation, apart from mating sessions. When two males come into contact, they will change color and inflate their bodies, attempting to assert their dominance. Often these battles end at this stage, with the loser retreating, turning drab and dark colors. Occasionally, the displays result in physical combat if neither contender backs down
