I would say to any artist: 'Don't be repressed in your work, dare to experiment, consider any urge, if in a new direction all the better.'

” The only time my feelings cannot be repressed. It is the only time they pour out of my heart and straight into my fingers as they rush across paper, my pen scratching furiously. It is the only time I drown in my sorrow and fully relish my pain, Writing is my cage and with it, I am everything. I am nothing and everything at the same time I am indestructible. “

" This isn’t an invasion it takes two sides to fight a war, and you’ve given every clear indication this is what you’ve been waiting for. We don’t need bullets or guns, we don’t need forces in the air or sea, ‘cause we’ve both got our weapon's, and a lot of repressed ancient history. "

The war is going on.

The tension covers the world and the air is tense. Every country is strengthening its armaments to protect its own country.

Over the last few years, Covid has divided the world and isolated people. And yet, is it a bright future for humankind to confront each other and create more gap between them?

Everyone knows that it is not the weapons that make our future. No one wants to be hurt by weapons and doesn't want to live a repressed life. But the world certainly seems to be dominated by fear.

Peace!

No WAR!

Just to see what it felt like

A digital fixture

The way I feel inside that makes me wanna fight

And I try

Don't you think it's gotta change

Or are they memories so repressed

A heavy pain that you confess

I tore it down to ease the pressure

I am tall and I am grand

I don't think you understand

I'm so real that I'm surreal

I watched the world

Open up for other people

Like they knew

How to place themselves so natural

The Shadow Self is an archetype that forms part of the unconscious mind and is composed of repressed ideas, instincts, impulses, weaknesses, desires, perversions, and embarrassing fears. This archetype is often described as the darker side of the human psyche.

Cathersis: the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions.

Saudade: is a Portuguese and Galician word for a feeling of longing for something that one is fond of, which is gone, but might return in a distant future. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might really never return.

King Arthur: I am your king.

Peasant Woman: Well, I didn't vote for you.

King Arthur: You don't vote for kings.

Peasant Woman: Well, how'd you become king, then?

[Angelic music plays... ]

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king.

Dennis the Peasant: Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Arthur: Be quiet!

Dennis the Peasant: You can't expect to wield supreme power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

Arthur: Shut up

Dennis the Peasant: I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Arthur: [grabs Dennis] Shut up! Will you shut up?!

Dennis: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system!

Arthur: [shakes Dennis] Shut up!

Dennis: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I'm being repressed!

Arthur: Bloody Peasant!

Dennis: Ooh, what a giveaway!

Weather conditions in the last two years severely repressed the prevalence of our sought-after dragonfly species in general. However, there were some of these Skimmers around.

Don't you think dreams and the Internet are similar? They are both areas where the repressed conscious mind vents.

I'm currently visiting the Pride at Home sim, and came across this mural on the wall. The sentiment behind this mural is beautiful, however, this mural only portrays the LGBT community in the month of June. Every June we all come out throwing glitter and rainbows acting as though our community is united and supportive of each other. The truth is, as a whole, we're not. The LGBT community is far from inclusive, and that should change. The rampant racism, sexism, transphobia and blatant disrespect for those that are different from us is appalling. We are a community of repressed people that further repress those in our own community.

Please come out of your closets and toss your glitter, wave your rainbow or community flags, be happy and supportive all June long. However, when July 1st comes don't stop being inclusive, supportive and proud. Our FB feeds are full of memes about these companies that go gay for the month of June but when July 1st comes around we are forgotten for another year. Don't be like those companies, keep the love and support year round.

The Lighting Of The Sails: The Kiss Of Light.

By artist David McDiarmid.

This is one of many artworks projected onto the sails of the Sydney Opera House for Vivid Sydney 2025.

Photographed from the Cahill Walkway on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Near the south-eastern pylon.

The artist, the late David McDiarmid, was a defining voice of late 20th century's radical counterculture. He fused art, fashion, nightlife with bold activism and unapologetic self-expression.

On the 30th anniversary of the artist’s death, 'Lighting of the Sails: Kiss of Light' transforms his life’s work, rooted in activism and provocation, into a new animation projected onto the Sydney Opera House for Vivid Sydney, 2025.

Organised by mood and feeling, 'Kiss of Light' is a slow dance of texture, colour, feeling and idea, tracing the artist’s punk origins. Featuring four key bodies of work - the Bedsheet Paintings, Disco Kwilts, and the Kiss of Light and Rainbow Aphorisms - the animation draws forward McDiarmid’s practice to the present day, broadcasting the experiences of a repressed minority while embodying complex truths, absorbing fear and preserving memory.

Cesaria Evora sings 'Sodade'

Cesaria is from Cape Verde, where the word is spelled differently. I can't resist dancing and singing along to this... only when alone, of course!! :o)

'Saudade' is a Portuguese and Galician word that has no direct translation in English. It describes a deep emotional state of nostalgic longing for an absent something or someone that one loves. It often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing will never return. A stronger form of saudade may be felt towards people and things whose whereabouts are unknown, such as a lost lover, or a family member who has gone missing.

Saudade was once described as "the love that remains" after someone or something is gone. Saudade is the recollection of feelings, experiences, places or events that once brought excitement, pleasure, well-being, which now triggers the senses and makes one feel alive again.

The presence of something beyond...the "natural" is more palpable and immediate, one might say, physical, in an enchanted age. The sacred in the strong sense, which marks out certain people, times, places and actions, in distinction to all others as profane, is by its very nature localizable, and it place is clearly marked out in ritual and sacred geography. This is what we sense, and often regret in passing of, when we contemplate the mediaeval cathedral. God-forsakenness is an experience of those whose ancestral culture has been transformed and repressed by a relentless process of disenchantment, whose deprivations can still be keenly felt.

“Shadow integration” means recognizing, accepting, and integrating the hidden or repressed parts of oneself — the emotions, desires, or traits we usually deny or reject — in order to become whole and authentic.

To integrate the shadow is not to purify oneself,

but to become complete.

The darkness we fear is not our enemy —

it is the part of us that still waits to be understood.

“Those who speak of progression but are afraid of change are self-repressed and therefore unable to reach any further than their eyes can already see.”

The Liberty bridge (Szabadság Híd) spans the river Danube connecting the Buda and Pest parts of the city. Originally named the Franz Joseph bridge (1896) it was renamed the Liberty or Freedom bridge in 1945 after liberation from the Nazis. The word "liberty" is open to interpretation and Hungary was freed again this time from communism in 1989 in a peaceful revolution after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The 1956 Hungarian Revolution had been brutally repressed when Russian tanks and troops rolled into Budapest on 07 November 1956.

The banks of the river Danube between Liberty bridge and Margaret bridge are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site

I undertook another gentle trip recently - I went to north east Wales for a couple of days. While I was there I explored a couple of locations on the coast, including Talacre beach. I wasn't expecting much as there weren't really any clouds and the tide was a long way out, but after exploring the dunes, I found this composition. I haven't really photographed dunes and long grass before, so I was quite pleased with myself. And then a man came past walking his dog, and my repressed street photographer urges burst forth!

I love this image, it makes me smile every time I look at it. Is it allowed to have a blurry man in one's landscape shot? Or to have a lighthouse and long grass in one's street shot?

Zenith created ‘Humain’ in his hometown Antwerp, in 24 hours he painted a huge hand on a blind wall (50 meters high) of the Provincial Institute for Hygiene in the Kronenburgstraat, where covid-tests from all over the province are analyzed.

Artist: www.instagram.com/__zenith______/

“It’s called ‘Humain’ because people are central. During the pandemic we have noticed that we especially need each. The word “humain” also includes the word “main” or hand in French “

“I chose a hand because first of all it means connection. Secondly, it is a reference to the Antwerp myth of Brabo that cuts off Antigoon’s hand. Antigoon repressed Antwerp. Third, it refers to our colonial past. Belgians have cut off the hands of oppressed people in our colonial past. ”

“I don’t want to attack or blame anyone, but it can help to have a conversation about that past.”

We try to visit the lobby of the Chrysler Building, but we are repressed, photos prohibited.

Thoughts that are considered threatening or disturbing are repressed in the unconscious so that they do not become conscious, but this defense mechanism does not make them disappear completely but only silenced for some time because they will return to manifest themselves when you least expect it, in many other ways, in sleep with dreams, with slips of the tongue or calami (word and writing)…..

(my opinion)

Spiders are always neglected.

Always judged by their looks and stereotypes.

Always a fear for many.

Yet look at the beauty they create.

We tear down their webs and they rebuild them almost everytime or at least move on.

Their worries must only consist of food, warmth and protection.

They have to fend for themselves and live a brave life amongst giants.

There's a lot that we can learn from spiders.

"FREEDOM"

We are all captive, mostly repressed all chained up tethered, feeling sadly oppressed ....

All we want is .... warm breeze in our hair, sun on our backs not much to be fare ....

Gently strolling the arboretum,

white doves fly up!

now that's freedom ....

A pick-a-me-up ....

The birds fly high, soaring so free .... "Oh, how I wish thy could be me "....

(NEW VIDEO about the Dark Night of The Soul) Some may go through intense darkness in their life more than once, and this can be something like a “turning point” in their life. When one go through the “Dark Night of Soul” the world can feel like it’s all crashing down and you have NO idea what the hell is happening! You feel lost, out of touch, unfamiliar...

Some people say that spirituality is just being light and or positive all the time without seeing the darkness. But what about our repressed issues? Pain? Trauma? We have to be aware of them in order to move on and live a better life.

So I just created an in depth video all about it and some tips for you as well on my youtube!

SHADOW

Shadow

In Jungian psychology, the shadow (also known as ego-dystonic complex, repressed id, shadow aspect, or shadow archetype) is an unconscious aspect of the personality that does not correspond with the ego ideal, leading the ego to resist and project the shadow. In short, the shadow is the self's emotional blind spot, projected (as archetypes—or, metaphorical sense-image complexes, personified within the collective unconscious); e.g., trickster.

In this exhibition of portraits we meet; The Ancient, The Beast, The Beautiful, The Bride, The Fairy, The Femme Fatale, The Flower, The Horned, The Innocent and The Mirror.
