LIGHT BLOOM by HYBYCOZO is a limited-time exhibit where nature and light converge. This mesmerizing display invites you to explore the Garden transformed by stunning geometric light installations that illuminate the beauty of the desert landscape in a new way. As the sun sets, LIGHT BLOOM comes to life, casting intricate shadows and vibrant hues across the Garden. Wander the trails and let the enchanting installations transport you to a magical realm where the natural world meets the abstract.
HYBYCOZO is the collaborative studio of artists Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuk. Based in Los Angeles, their work consists of larger than life geometric sculptures, often with pattern and texture that draw on inspirations from mathematics, science, and natural phenomena. Typically illuminated, the work celebrates the inherent beauty of form and pattern and represents their ongoing journey in exploring the myriad dimensions of geometry. HYBYCOZO is short for the Hyperspace Bypass Construction Zone, a nod to their favorite novel (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) and was the title of their first installation in 2014. They continue to create under this name. In the novel earth was being destroyed to make way for a bypass. It lead Serge and Yelena to ask what it means to make art at a time where the earth’s hospitable time in the universe may be limited.

Q: Walk us through your creative process?
A: The focus of our creative process is to explore the intricate interplay between geometry, light, space and to inspire contemplation, wonder and a sense of place among our audiences. Geometry and pattern-making serve as the backbone of our creative expression. It is the framework through which we navigate the complexities of form, proportion and spatial relationships. Patterns, both simple and complex, have a profound impact on our perception and understanding of the world. They possess the ability to evoke a sense of order, balance and aesthetic pleasure. Pattern making and geometry offer us a means of storytelling and communication. These patterns serve as conduits for deeper exploration, provoking introspection and contemplation to uncover the underlying symbols embedded within the human psyche.
Q: What inspired the concept of LIGHT BLOOM?
A: Just as many cactus and desert plants have evolved to produce night-blooming flowers, adapting to their environment and thriving in darkness, our sculptures come alive after sunset, blossoming with light and transforming the night into a glowing landscape of art and geometry.
Desert Botanical Garden has an incredible collection of plants and cacti arranged in a beautiful park setting.

SIMULACRUM, the April-May 2025 exhibition by Manoji Yachvili (aka Onceagain) @ Nitroglobus Main hall.
I'm proud to share that Onceagain is back at Nitroglobus, and this time her work is featured in the Main Hall, giving her more space to showcase her stunning art.
I’ve always loved her work—delicate in color yet powerful in emotion, offering a glimpse into her real-life personality. When she mentioned she might leave Second Life after completing her SLEA3 project ("What is Art and What Will I Leave Behind When I Go?"), I asked her to please exhibit at Nitroglobus one last time before departing. Thankfully, she agreed.
Her current exhibition, SIMULACRUM, is one of her most recent projects. It addresses a very timely topic: the rise of AI-generated imagery and her personal opinion about this. It goes without saying that Onceagain created all the art in this exhibition without the use of AI.
Come visit see for yourself AND most of all ENJOY.

As always I am super glad David Silence found time in his busy schedule to create the excellent poster, based on one of Onceagain's images.

Description of the exhibition by the artist:
The simulacrum, borrowed from the Latin simulacrum, was born as an effigy, as a statue that depicts divinities, heroes, illustrious figures (but nothing is more illustrious) and the extension of meaning makes the simulacrum a shadow, a ghost, a reflection, which in essence is not or is no longer that someone or something it represents – imperfect simulation.
Reality no longer exists, it has disappeared, crumbled by the media and modern technologies that propose images that do not refer to reality, that receive meaning only from other images and that are perpetually regenerated, thus remaining increasingly disconnected from what was originally real.
Everything I see has an appearance and the power of appearance, without a faithful external image and therefore devoid of the original vitality.
We are surrounded by empty shells, as I feel now, and perhaps it is time to disappear because nothing of what I see pleases me anymore, including this vain attempt of mine to translate this feeling into images

...at Beamish Museum in County Durham, represents the home of a well-to-do tenant farmer in the 1820s. Pockerley actually had a tenant farmer until 1990, when the hall was 'annexed' by the museum, opening to the public five years later following extensive development and restoration.
Pockerley (the name is derived from the Anglo-Saxon words 'pock' or 'pokor', meaning 'pimple' or 'bag-like', and 'ley', meaning a woodland clearing) has stood on its hilltop site for several centuries, the earliest record of a settlement dating from a rental survey for the Bishop of Durham in 1183, though its defensive attributes suggest that there could have been an Iron Age hill fort there. Pictured is the main farmhouse, or 'new' house – dating from the late 1700s! – with the adjoining (though never connected) mediaeval strong house, or 'old' house, to the right. In the foreground is the ornamental section of the Hall's terraced gardens.
This is a belated upload, following a lull in shooting that prompted me to trawl through my old photographs in search of any 'hidden gems' I might previously have passed over (as you do). The original colour shot pre-dates my acquisition of the Nik Collection, and I thought it was a good candidate for what has rapidly become my favourite preset in Silver Efex Pro: 'Antique Plate II', which I am still determined not to over-use! :-)
I took a Night Photography class sponsored by Desert Botanical Garden and taught by Ryan Parra - a photography professor at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. I learned a lot and practiced a lot. I really feel that I had improved significantly by the end of the class. One big problem with classes like this is keeping other photographers out of the frame.

Epilogue: May I Suggest (2nd verse)
There is a world that's been addressed to you
addressed to you intended only for your eyes.
A secret world, like a treasure chest to you, of private scenes and brilliant dreams that mesmerize.
A lover's trusting smile, a tiny babies' hands, the million stars that fill the turning sky at night.
Oh I suggest, oh I suggest to you, oh I suggest this is the best part of your life.....

Dated 1882. 3-storey, 3-bay, square-plan Tudor-style bank with advanced gabled bays and gabled dormers breaking eaves with decorative bargeboards. Coursed red sandstone with smooth ashlar quoins and window margins to principal elevations. Central entrance door with recessed, engaged colonnettes and arched hoodmould; pleated corbel detail over chamfered corner. Stone mullioned tri- and bipartite windows, some with grooved transoms at eaves; projecting corbelled cills to first floor.
The bank building has a strong design with some fine stone detailing and timber fretwork bargeboards. The building is prominently sited on the corner of the High Street and Leithen Road and makes a strong contribution to the streetscape with its red sandstone façade.
The bank represents an early part of the development surge along the High Street which occurred between 1881-1894, when many buildings were upgraded and new buildings introduced. It is a good example of a building of its date, its fine detailing signifying the grandeur and confidence of the bank.
The Bank of Scotland first opened in Innerleithen in 1863 as a sub-branch of Peebles; later a new premises was required and the present site was bought in December 1881 for £500. The bank was built at a cost of £2,481 and was opened for business in the spring of 1883.

These six infrared images of Saturn's moon Titan represent some of the clearest, most seamless-looking global views of the icy moon's surface produced so far. The views were created using 13 years of data acquired by the Visual and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (VIMS) instrument on board NASA's Cassini spacecraft. The images are the result of a focused effort to smoothly combine data from the multitude of different observations VIMS made under a wide variety of lighting and viewing conditions over the course of Cassini's mission.
Previous VIMS maps of Titan display great variation in imaging resolution and lighting conditions, resulting in obvious seams between different areas of the surface. With the seams now gone, this new collection of images is by far the best representation of how the globe of Titan might appear to the casual observer if it weren’t for the moon's hazy atmosphere, and it likely will not be superseded for some time to come.

The works representing mythological figures.
Drawing on information from the excavation and stylistic comparisons, the pavement has been dated to the first half or middle of the 2nd century AD. A deeper examination of the pavement during its lifting and restoration allowed for an understanding of the construction techniques and the successive phases of installation of its different segments. While the ensemble was realised in situ, in opus tessellatum, the circular medallion, created in opus vermiculatum using miniscule elements, was composed within a workshop upon a terracotta base (the emblema technique) and then inserted into a space left empty in the centre of the shield. The border decorated with a guilloche was added at a third stage in order to camouflage the join between the shield and the emblema. By identifying the material used for the medallion and the guilloche, we can say that the creation of the panel and its insertion were carried out by the same team.

This fresco was produced as part of the Street Art Trail project led by the five MAHHL cities of the Euroregion. The heart of this project is five associations of artists specializing in the field of Street Art who have joined forces to create, in close collaboration with the cities of Aachen, Hasselt, Heerlen, Liège and Maastricht, five monumental frescoes around a unique theme “Love letter from 2123”. These unique works of art aim to tell the story of each linked city through a common objective: to give hope and imagine a bright future for current and future generations. The interventions carried out in the public spaces of the five cities will form an artistic journey across the territory of the Euregio and will invite the public to discover these new monumental works.
The City of Liège was happy to welcome an artist from Heerlen, Dazetwo (Wesley van Heugten).
The fresco that the artist Dazetwo and the city of Heerlen offered to Liège is presented in a poetic diptych. “On the left, a pile of electronic waste on which there is a crow. This left wall represents modern times and is partially constructed in black and white. This symbolizes the fact that we live in modern times, but we are still very outdated by the technology used. On the right, the representation of the future: behind the crow, nature is pure and unique. It is a symbol of the Garden of Eden. » Between these two spans, a letter floats and makes the connection between today and tomorrow. A letter full of good news from our great-grandchildren.

This represents a return to a project I'd been working on intermittently for a while - and then somehow lost sight of. By no means finished, eleven of the twelve rectangles here are out-of- camera jpegs. The twelfth is was a minimally adjust raw file out of the TG6. When I started, the idea was to take a single shot under the water every time I swam, and collect them together into an album of colours. Now I have made this - I think I will start again - and save the photos in the order I take them to make a daily record of the colour of the water I swim in, whether it is fresh or salty, clear or murky, sunny or overcast.
The Great WARNING.
The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one.The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.“Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom.

They represent the first few years of my career. I chose making tiny size because it's easier to cast and if I made mistake, I would not waste much material. At that time, I was just graduated, didn't have much money and my father was against me. It's hard and tough, but I had nothing to lose.
Now the condition is much better, but I am worrying that maybe just one slip, I might loose everything. Hope not. :p

They say we could get some snow flurries tonight. save for some photos of a heavy snow, witches frost , or going to the store I will probably not venture outside much.
We never know exactly the type of weather to expect. They say a harsh winter and it is a mild one, they say mild and it feels like the inside of a deep freezer. They predict little snow fall and we get buried. Calm weather and we get storms that tear up trees, knock down houses and sink ships on the lakes.
Over the course of the winters I have seen around here it would be safe to say...expect everything ! Winds can be terrible, driving the wind chill into the sub-zeros. I have seen 700 foot lake boats sitting on mud where the Maumee river was flowing. The wind has blown all the water toward Buffalo N.Y. At the other end the very reverse is happening, the water is piling up. These are not occurrences that happen every winter, but they do happen and you never know just when.
The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (Portuguese: Museu Oscar Niemeyer) is located in the city of Curitiba, in the state of Paraná, in Brazil. It was inaugurated in 2002 with the name Novo Museu or New Museum. With the conclusion of remodeling and the construction of a new annex, it was reinaugurated on July 8, 2003, with the current denomination to honor its famous architect who completed this project at 95 years of age. It is also known as Museu do Olho or Museum of the Eye, due to the design of the building.
The museum focuses on the visual arts, architecture and design. For its magnificence, beauty and for the importance of the collection, it represents a cultural institution of international significance. The complex of two buildings, installed in an area of 35 thousand square meters (of which 19 thousand are dedicated to exhibition space), it is a true example of architecture allied with art. The first building was designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1967, faithful to the style of the time, and conceived as an educational institute. It was remodeled and adapted to function as a museum, for which Niemeyer designed the annex, reminiscent of an eye, imprinting it with a new characteristic identity.
