There is the umbrella movement in Hong Kong during the months from September to December 2014. The citizens were protesting for people's rights on the democratic election of Chief Executive in Hong Kong.
The yellow umbrella is a very popular icon at that time. I play with the replace colour in Photoshop and turn the red umbrellas into yellow in tribute to this democratic movement.

Ultra rare Datsun Laurel 2-door version. It looks like a Coupe, and from some angle it looks like a pick-up with a closed lid. I've never seen this version before. Not even on photos.
In some markets this Datsun is known as Nissan Laurel 2.0 DeLuxe.
The original colour used to be red.
These square double headlights came in Autumn 1977 to replace the round ones.
The Datsun/Nissan Laurel range was available from 1968 to 2002 divided over eight generations. This 200L is from the Third generation.
This third generation Laurel was designed by Shinichiro Sakurai (Jap, 1929-2011). He worked for Prince Motor Corporation. In 1966 he moved to Nissan Motor corporation, after Prince merged with Nissan. Here hes was responsible for the Nissan Skyline series.

About the photograph.

The photograph was taken from the footpath between the Amis Reunis boat and the Observatory Tower on the southern part of the village, right next to the River Dwyryd, and looking toward north.
In the photograph, the tall building is known as the Bell Tower, and parts of the buildings to the right of the photo is known as The Watch House. In the background, you could see The Dome.
About Portmeirion.
Portmeirion is a tourist and historical coastal village located on the estuary of the River Dwyryd, about 2 miles south east of Porthmadog, in North Wales, and owned by a charitable trust.
Some of the buildings already existed around the middle of the 1800s, such as the hotel, along with Castell Deudraeth.
Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, the chief architect bought most of the buildings. Between 1925 and 1975, he designed, built, and improved the area into an exquisite village, in the style of a Mediterranean feel.
It had since become a most popular tourist location, and often used as on-location filming site for various television shows.
Nowadays, most of the buildings are used as hotels or self-catering cottages, while tourists have a day-out looking around.
About the television show called The Prisoner.
Ynglŷn â'r sioe deledu o'r enw The Prisoner.
The Prisoner is a 1967 British television series about an unnamed British agent who chose to resign from Intelligence services.
In the series, he was imprisoned in a mysterious retirement village at a secret location. Although the village was used for retired secret agents, he was placed there because his superiors and bosses wanted to know why he chose to resign.
In the show, his name was never used, and he was referred to as ”Number Six, as everyone else were given numerical codenames. The mysterious village was overseen by an administrator whom was often referred as Number Two.
Number Six was played by the actor Patrick McGoohan, whom also created the show, as well as writing and directing some of the episodes. He played the main character in 16 out of the 17 episodes. Only played his character in a minor role in one episode, because at that time, he took time off from The Prisoner, to attend a filming of a movie.
In each episodes, different actors played Number Two, and each tried their own attempts to get Number Six to reveal his reasons for resigning. This was often done by means of tricks, drugging, brainwashing, identity theft, and so on.
The usual plot of each episode would have Number Two attempting to use their own means, bring Number Six close to the breaking point, where Six could finally reveal his reasons, but often in the end, Number Six often saw through the attempts, and rebuffed the attempts.
Portmeirion was used as a stand-in filming location for the mysterious village due to its unique style.

My first attempt at recoding a meteor shower. These are the Geminids which are named after the constellation from which they appear the originate from. I recorded some 240 images over a 2 hour period between 2 am and 4 am. I discarded all that did not have a meteor in the image. In the end I only used 14 images plus one for the foreground. The foreground was shot at around 00:30 am when there was almost 50% moonlight. Also visible in this image are the constellation Orion and the planets Jupiter and Mars. Hover your mouse over the image to see where I marked these.
Pre-processed in DxO PhotoLab, Stacked and blended using Affinity Photo. The entire post processing of meteors took a number of hours and has been a huge learning curve for me.

This replaces an earlier posting: a Rock Island SW1 (537) heads an eastbound local over Santa Fe Ave. In a little more than three years I'd work for two months as a switchman out of Harter Yard, to which this crew is probably headed to tie up. We had two jobs that headed west out of Harter in the morning, went by here and past Union Station, and then worked industries to the west of downtown OKC. The "West Yard" headed into an area that contained spurs off of what must have been the Rock's original mainline through OKC, before Union Station was built in 1931. The "OK Rail" went further west and then switched into a spur that went north to NW39th Street, and then headed east along 39th to industries including a lumber yard. I never asked about the origin of the name "OK Rail", but it appears from what I can find that those tracks were along the remains of the Oklahoma Railway, an interurban that had a pretty extensive reach in central Oklahoma into the '30s. And that nifty little Nash "Rambler" was an attempt by the Kenosha (Wisconsin) based auto manufacturer to break into - or more likely to INVENT - the compact car market. I believe this is about a 1950-model, and like many other older cars down there it was in great shape - no road salt in use.

Taken back in July of 1991, here's the dragger "Commodore IV", retired after several decades of fishing and scalloping. She appears to have been deliberately scuttled and left in place as part of a breakwater. The structure off the bow is one of several extending to the left (south, then east), offering some protection for the south-facing structures along the shore. A newer stone breakwater has replaced this improvised version, part of a two section affair that almost completely surrounds the wharf area and associated buildings.
Driving out to Cape Forchu on the Yarmouth Bar Road (Rt 304), about a half mile past the "Lost to the Sea Memorial" the road crosses a small steel bridge that spans a channel connecting Yarmouth Harbor (south), to the bay (north). I parked near the bridge and grabbed a few photos of Commodore IV, plus another derelict dragger fifty yards east of the bridge. This second boat was in worst shape than its companion, no name being visible anywhere.
Commodore IV was built at the A. F. Theriault & Son boatyard in Meteghan River in 1963, with a gross weight of 176 tons, and according to a marine industry information website... was listed in 1992 as being "out of service" (no longer operating?). Most folks looking at this photo would agree that at the time I shot this image, she was most definitely "out of service" a year earlier than listed.
This image is a copy of an Ektachrome 100 transparency shot with a Pentax 6x7. It was made using a Nikon D3500 camera, a 55mm Micro-Nikkor lens, with a Nikon 4T close-up lens, and a Sigma 1.6x close-up lens mounted on the 4T.

Italia - Pisa - Baptisterio
********
ENGLISH
The Pisa Baptistery of St. John is a Roman Catholic ecclesiastical building in Pisa, Italy, it is the largest one in Italy. Construction started in 1152 to replace an older baptistery, and when it was completed in 1363, it became the second building, in chronological order, in the Piazza dei Miracoli, near the Duomo di Pisa and the cathedral's free-standing campanile, the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The baptistery was designed by Diotisalvi, whose signature can be read on two pillars inside the building, with the date 1153.
Constructed on the same unstable sand as the tower and cathedral, the Baptistery leans 0.6 degrees toward the cathedral. Originally the shape of the Baptistery, according to the project by Diotisalvi, was different. It was perhaps similar to the church of Holy Sepulchre in Pisa, with its pyramidal roof. After the death of the architect, Nicola Pisano continued the work, changing the style to the more modern Gothic one. Also an external roof was added giving the shape of a cupola. As a side effect of the two roofs, the pyramidal inner one and the domed external one, the interior is acoustically perfect, making of that space a resonating chamber.
The exterior of the dome is clad with lead sheets on its east side (facing the cathedral) and red tiles on its west side (facing the sea), giving a half grey and half red appearance from the south

Having spent as cold a bivouac as I can remember, a series of warming up exercises were necessary in order not to become totally ineffective at operating a camera. Star jumps, press ups, shadow boxing & other random rapid movements restored blood flow & saw off any pesky sheep intent on 'photo-bombing' Angle Tarn. Even the ravens were eyeing me suspiciously.

Okay, here we go! This is the low resolution version (8,000x2,000) of the Big Kahuna Pano. It comes from 21 portrait-mode shots put together with PTGui Pro. The big version has 467 megapixels (42950x10884) and could be enlarged to make a 15 foot wide mural. The jpeg file size is almost 300 megabytes, which is why I’m posting the lo-res version here. If you want the full-resolution version, just let me know and we can work out a transfer method.
What we have here is the 2019 Poppy Superbloom at Lake Elsinore, California. It’s located right off of Interstate 15, about five miles north of the village. I was there last Tuesday, arriving around 9:30 in the morning. The road (Walker Canyon road) was already filling up with cars. By the time I left, around noon, parking spaces were hard to find. There is some overflow parking nearby, but that fills up fast. So if you go, I recommend getting there early. Forget about going on a weekend. They closed the area last weekend when an estimated 50,000 people showed up.
It is an impressive sight. I drove 2,100 miles over five days, but I’m glad I went.

BTR-80
The BTR-80 is a Soviet 8x8 wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier introduced in 1985. It replaced its predecessors the BTR-70 and BTR-60, and was used in many conflicts globally. It first saw combat in the Soviet-Afghan war, where it proved very effective. It has been used in virtually every major conflict since, and is still used by Russia and almost 50 countries worldwide. And currently, the BTR-80 is being used in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
More than 5,000 units have been built since it’s introduction. This model is configured with the 14.5mm KPVT machine gun, and more recent variants such as the BTR-82A are equipped with a 30mm cannon.
This specific model depicts the BTR-80 as it would be used during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan during the mid-80’s. It is built in 1:40/45 scale. The turret of the model is inspired by Tiger131 on Instagram and his use of a unique dish piece for the turret of his BRDM 2, and Henry (Brick Battlefield) for the technique he used for the swim vein on his BTR-70. Other than that, the model is completely my own design.

Bottom line; I'll have more interesting photos this weekend!

More in depth, how to replace the screen protector:
-[ K is for Knives, Utility ]-
Two styles of utility knives and the standardized blades they use.
The top one is a common retractable blade style, the exact model (Stanley 99E) as pictured in the Wikipedia page. The original patent (long since expired) for this particular model was applied for in 1961 and granted in 1963, to give an idea of how long the basic tool has been around. The black object to the left is a dispenser holding more blades than I will ever use for the foreseeable future.
The bottom one is a plastic-handled snap-off blade knife. using an 18mm (about ¾") eight-point segmented blade. The blade itself is based on a concept from Japan dating back to 1956. A smaller version of this knife style uses a 9mm (about ⅜") 13-point blade.
The PL 17 replaced the Dyna Z and was presented on June 29, 1959. For model year 1961 a cabriolet was added followed by an estate version in April 1963.
Late 1963 the PL 17 range underwent a minor facelift for the 1964 model year.
Responsible for the avant garde design of the PL 17 and his predecessor Dyna Z was Louis Bionier (1898-1973) in cooperation with André Jouan.
In 1965 Citroën became full owner of Panhard. In the same year production of the PL 17 has ceased.
I came across with this old Panhard on a car park of a GB Supermarché during our trip back home. It's obviously a daily driver.

The Brickell Avenue Bridge is a bascule bridge in Downtown Miami, Florida, that carries U.S. Route 1 (US 1; Brickell Avenue) over the Miami River.
The original Brickell Avenue Bridge was built in 1929 and replaced in 1995. The Brickell Avenue Bridge was widened by one additional northbound lane in 2006 to reduce the traffic bottleneck through downtown. Before this, there were three southbound but only two northbound lanes. Currently, there are three lanes in each direction as well as a pedestrian walkway on both sides. Still, the bridge causes frequent traffic delays on the busy Brickell Avenue when it opens. According to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the bridge opened 4,990 times in 2010.
The statue is a 53-foot bronze monument commissioned by the Florida Department of Transportation and created by Cuban Master Sculptor Manuel Carbonell in 1995. The "Pillar of History" consists of a 36-foot high carved bas-relief column that graphically narrates the lives of the Tequesta Indians, Miami's first inhabitants, and features 158 figures. At the top stands a 17-foot bronze sculpture, "Tequesta Family" portraying a Tequesta Indian warrior aiming an arrow to the sky, looking for space in eternity, with his wife and child by his side, while the son covers his face in expectation of their extinction.
Carbonell also created four bas reliefs, measuring 4-feet by 8-feet, which were installed in niches on the bridge's supporting piers. Each relief honors Miami's early founders and pioneers - William and Mary Brickell, Henry Flagler, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, and Julia Tuttle.
