The top black box, in the right-hand side of the metal cage on the silver post, at the front of this photograph, is a Banner Repeating Signal. At the other end of Bentley station is an ordinary colour light signal. From where the banner repeating Signal is, the ordinary colour light signal at the other end of Bentley station, is not visible. The track-bed curves and the station buildings and foot-bridge get in the way. The ordinary colour light signal and the banner repeating signal are linked, and kept in step. Thus when a driver sees the banner repeating signal he/she know what the colour light signal indicates. This gives the driver the needed distance to stop the train in if it is red when he/she would normally expect it to be green. Passing a signal when red is a serious offense on all railways - main-line and heritage/preserved. It is known as a SPAD - Signal Passed At Danger.
The "WK 446 BR" sign identifies the signal. WK is the code for Woking, which is where the signal is controlled from. 446 indicates that it is 446th signal down this line. BR indicates that it is a banner repeating signal. The linked colour light signal is "WK 446". You can see it in other photographs in this series. The above photograph is one of a series of photographs taken on the day I visited Bentley Railway Station in Hampshire UK GB. I traveled there by train from Alresford to Alton, and then on to Bentley, again by train. There are 87 photographs in the series.
This is photograph number 33 of 87.
It was hot as all hell, so my dad and I took a breather and drank some soda (Jones Soda, my fave) and shot some pictures, in Kalamazoo's Mall District.
As Rodriguez struggled to process her stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis, her daughter Krista was by her side. When Rodriguez was diagnosed, it would be Krista who dropped out. And it would be Krista who dutifully sat with her mother as she got chemo.
What remained after cutting carefully to get one gorgeous, on-center medallion.

A single SB-900 attached to the camera using an i-TTL cord camera right and a white cardboard box camera left for fill.
The SB-900 was set to minimum power (1/128 or so) and set to repeat 8 times at 5Hz over the course of a 2 second exposure.
E.T. the Xoloitzquintle, the birdbath hose, and a difficult-to-see desiccated medicinal plant serving as a bird perch.

Shot at f/11 with 1/500 exposure and 200 ISO on a cloudy day.
Decreased saturation and increased clarity and contrast in post process.
I thought the repeated structures on the building were interesting and framed them so they receded in an interesting way. I decided to decrease the saturation to give it a washed out look.

ICAD #21 - Had a crazy day today so thought I'd relax with an easy bit of mosaic colouring. This was NOT easy or relaxing at all! What a faff... (Square grid paper, ProMarkers)
It's a 2 dimensional picture of a 3 dimensional representation of the 4th dimension of time with paper cuts! Cool!
These cows were very curious about seeing dogs on bikes. I love the picture because it almost looks like a painting.
Repeating flash exposure. SB-800 on camera. I tried many different shutter lengths and repeating sequences. Please comment on which one you like best, one will be entered into a bikes with lights contest.
