This insightful Russian documentary on the personal life of the Dalai Lama had been removed from this site and just now I found it restored and decided to accompany the documentary with a collage.

Please take time to view. It's difficult to find. (Only itunes Australia has it for rent/sale)

In the documentary "Sunrise/Sunset", the Dalai Lama states one does not have to be a believer to attain Enlightenment.

This truth might appeal to you as it does to me.

Also inspired by the Dalai Lama’s baggy eyes in this film, I’ve increased my own practices :)

My own recent sunset (including orange ring around the Buddha) photos taken from house viewing window following a torrential rain provide the collage base followed by that gifted by A. Walden. Thank you Alan.

Wikipedia: Wat Pho, also spelled Wat Po, is a Buddhist temple complex in the Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, Thailand. It is on Rattanakosin Island, directly south of the Grand Palace. Known also as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, its official name is Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan.

Phra Maha Chedi Si Rajakarn is a group of four large stupas, each 42 metres high. These four chedis are dedicated to the first four Chakri kings. The first, in green mosaic tiles, was constructed by Rama I to house the remnants of the great Buddha from Ayuthaya, which was scorched to remove its gold covering by the Burmese. Two more were built by Rama III, one in white tiles to hold the ashes of his father Rama II, another in yellow for himself. A fourth in blue was built by Rama IV who then enclosed the four chedis leaving no space for more to be built.

Still sporting its bright blue, GTW 6224 (ex. DT&I 224) works 3 bay grain hoppers into the Blenheim branch of the Anderson grain company. The train is operating on what once was the C&O Sub 1 from Windsor to St. Thomas. The majority of Sub 1 has since been removed, with this one piece dead ending just East of town and to the West at the diamond with Sub 2 (Sarnia to Erieau). Once finished their work they would run around their train, head back West to the connection with Sub 2 and take the now CN Sarnia spur North to Chatham.

American Bald Eagle - Orlando, Florida

'Christmas Day' - December 25th, 2021

*[left-click for a closer-look - large adult bald-eagle]

The Bald Eagle is both the national bird and national animal of the United States of America. The Bald Eagle appears on its Seal. In the late 20th century, it was on the brink of extirpation in the continental United States. Populations recovered and the species was removed from the U.S. federal government's list of endangered species on July 12, 1995 and transferred to the list of threatened species. It was removed from the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife in the Lower 48 States on June 28, 2007. The average lifespan of Bald Eagles in the wild is around 20 years, with the oldest confirmed one having been 28 years of age. Just a thrill and a joy to observe them.

Silver Lake Viaduct in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood is a prominent fixture showcasing a bygone era of masonry skills, being built for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1902. Seeing and photographing a train across it had personally been one of my most sought after photos to get. On the morning of March 7th, I was able to accomplish that when the Norfolk Southern took a unit frac sand train down this on again, off again used piece of railroad to the Allegheny Valley Railroad interchange near the Allegheny River. Train movements prior to the fracking sand boom were extraordinarily rare, and movements across the Brilliant Branch in whole were even rarer.

When commuter trains were still was a regular thing in Pittsburgh, the Brilliant Branch stretched 4 tracks wide, featuring a flyover ramp build over top of the busy mainline in nearby Homewood. The flyovers purpose was being utilized by commuter trains and freight traffic bypassing the busy Penn Station at downtown Pittsburgh. The Pennsylvania Railroad commuter trains came to an end in the early 1960’s and the flyover ramps were removed not there long after, going hand in hand with the greatly diminished use of Union Station. In 2025, the branch line which once played a critical role in keeping the railroads fluidity at their peak is down to a singular track and a wye at the junction of the Pittsburgh mainline. The branch has found use in more recent years, with trail activists along with the City of Pittsburgh's green initiatives pushing to turn this into a bike trail. An effort that later succeeded into accomplishing. Sometime in 2025 during the warmer weather months, this rail line will be removed for yet another hiking/biking trail connecting from nowhere to nowhere.

Testing out the new Aaron 4.0 head by Lelutka by looking all exhausted and stuff. This head has a nose shape that removes the need of nose deformers so check it out if you don't like standard faces. I made my own shape and added DerDieb's face tattoos to give me that complete 'week two, and the robots are fighting back' vibe.

As many opine for the days when the Bozeman Local ran like clockwork and with clean power, no doubt people such as Mark Hemphill yearn for when the MRL #405 plied the rails as DRGW #3047. Although the tonnage on this day won't make a dent in the speed, even with a 1.9% grade ahead, the #405 undoubtedly saw mountain territory in its previous life. The #3047 was one of 22 GP35's delivered to the DRGW between 1964/65. Like most of the GP35 fleet, it lasted just about 28 years, being retired in Dec 1993 along with 17 others. An interesting note is that all 22 GP35's were made to be trailing unit only in 1972, removing cab seats, toilets and radios. I am unsure if this lasted until their retirement or if they were made lead qualified again at some point. Thanks to utahrails.net for the great details! Its an interesting note that by now the #405 has spent close to or more time on the Montana Rail Link than it did the Denver and Rio Grande Western. Time marches on!

Holland, MI has some lovely things to recommend it but its inlet Lake was surrounded by ugly industrial buildings. While some are still left, happily the power plant moved inland and the view you see here will no longer be marred by the smokestacks. Although I admit that after dark they did present a forlorn kind of beauty.

Please enjoy the now vanished details in Large. Thank you so much for your visit!

"A statue removed from an Islington park more than 30 years ago has been officially reinstated. 'Upon Reflection' is a self-portrait of artist Kevin Atherton, first unveiled in the Philip Noel-Baker Peace Garden, in Elthorne Park, in 1985.

But the statue, which depicts the artist gazing at his reflection in a pond, was vandalised and eventually removed after less than two years. The plinth has remained empty since.

The sculpture was thought to be lost, until the council’s heritage team found it in the basement of Islington Town Hall last year." (source and date of article unknown😭possibly 'Islington Gazette')

Originally when the Statue was Installed was plain Silvery Bronze colour. It was painted Silver (as here) but the Date that it was Painted Gold was sometime in 2024 (to be updated)

5500 had been leading the Max - Bismarck road train but was removed from the consist at Falkirk to haul the local to Wilton leaving the remaining two locomotives to work the yard and industry.

The road train would later continue its journey to Bismarck picking up 5500 along the way.

We came across lots of those lovely little wild orchids during our hike on Dartmoor last weekend. A little research makes me think they could be Southern Marsh orchids. I suppose they will grow a bit larger still. I went down on tick-infested fields to get this angle ...luckily we found and removed all ticks before they could bite.

This is a hill near my house... when I was little, this hill had a bump about a third of the way down the slope. Every time my mom would load the car up with kids to drive us to the pool, in the summertime, she would go down this hill, and when the car would go over that smooth bump and then whoosh on down the hill, it would give us a little "roller coaster" feeling, which we called a "whoopsie!".

In later years they removed the bump in the hill, because kids were making their cars take flight by speeding over the bump... and wrecking their cars, and getting hurt. So, no more "whoopsie"!

I have always thought it was a beautiful spot. The park is on one side, and some farms which never gave way to the encroaching city are on the other side. Thus, the wooden fence.

So, Happy Fenced Friday, everyone!

Eilean Donan (Scottish Gaelic: Eilean Donnain) is a small tidal island where three lochs meet, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh, in the western Highlands of Scotland; since the castle's restoration in the early 20th Century, a footbridge has connected the island to the mainland. A picturesque castle that frequently appears in photographs, film and television dominates the island, which lies about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from the village of Dornie.

Eilean Donan is part of the Kintail National Scenic Area, one of 40 in Scotland. In 2001, the island had a recorded population of just one person, but there were no "usual residents" at the time of the 2011 census.

Eilean Donan, which means simply "island of Donnán", is named after Donnán of Eigg, a Celtic saint martyred in 617. Donnán is said to have established a church on the island, though no trace of this remains.

The castle was founded in the thirteenth century, and became a stronghold of the Clan Mackenzie and their allies the Clan Macrae. In the early eighteenth century the Mackenzies' involvement in the Jacobite rebellions led in 1719 to the castle's destruction by government ships. Lieutenant-Colonel John Macrae-Gilstrap's twentieth-century reconstruction of the ruins produced the present buildings.

Fuchsias are fragile plants and I had noticed that this particular plant wasn't doing too well in the scorching heat we had recently. Wanting to protect it, I place a large umbrella in front of it every morning, when the sun shines on it. Since we had some good rain the last two days, I removed the umbrella and saw that this pretty Fuchsia had grown a large quantity of beautiful new blooms, a reward for my good care :) /

QG train 501 negotiates the curve called "Breslay", east of EXO Parc station, while enroute to the CPKC Saint-Luc yard with a good train. On the right, the old signal bridge structure, where “searchlight” signals were present until the demolition of the Outremont yard, testifies to the existence of a third track obviously removed at the beginning of the century.
