Beyond the Sleat Peninsula of the Isle of Skye
rise the majestic mountains of remote Knoydart
on the West Coast of Scotland.
Standing between the grand fjords of Hourn and Nevis
peaks rise dramatically out of the sea from 3,000 to 3,500 feet.
Ladhar Bheinn and Sgurr na Ciche are legendary.
Views from their summits include a huge range of landscape environments.
Distant peaks, north, north-east, south-east and east.
Deep, winding fjords or sea-lochs.
Corries and glens.
Burns and waterfalls.
Woodland and moorland.
Headlands and bays.
Beaches and harbours.
Village and pasture.
A myriad of dream-like islands and ocean, ocean, ocean.
A fascinating, convoluted, intricate coastline over 3,000 miles in length.
One of the most scenic, colourful and awe-inspiring coastlines on Earth.
I wanted to include the background to show how remote... and lonely... this location is. I don't think anybody has been buried here for more than 100 years. Those who are at rest sure don't get many visitors.
The Remote Froglet calling after heavy rain. This tiny frog makes one of the loudest sounds in a chorus of northern frog species.

Taken from a local fjord tour from Bergen, Norway. The scenery encountered during this cruise was not quite as dramatic nor spectacular as that encountered during the Norway In A Nutshell excursion. However it was still nice.
Taken July 2008.
Yesterday our little cat Mayzi was run over by a car and killed on impact. Please everyone take care when driving down remote country roads, as this can be the result, and sometimes worse. Rest in peace little kitty xx
Still cruising the Scutum Centaurus Arm of the Milky Way galaxy, the Hullbull Remote Space Telescope peers into a dense nebula and captures an image of a binary protostar system in early stages of development.
Not a real space photo. Light art.
Two exposures, 100mm lens: Waterworld technique (handheld) used to create blue/yellow/red nebula pattern. Recompose on tripod for second exposure using water droplets, blue, red, yellow, and white LEDs to create background star field, selective masking to eliminate "stars" behind nebula (black matting); Waterworld technique again to create two protostar patterns, two focal distances, Waterworld combined with droplet technique to create protoplanets/asteroids in protoplanetary disk of left protostar. Protodifficult.
St Thomas à Becket Church in Fairfield stands alone in a field on Romney Marsh, surrounded by water courses and sheep. The original village buildings have long since disappeared, but there has been a church here since the 13th century.
My latest photographic gadget is ControlMyNikon, a computer program that remotely controls your camera for live view focusing and triggering and SO much more with your laptop (tethered shooting). It’s going to take a LONG time for me to wrap my head around this but it should really help with my macro and still life photography. Once I figure that out I hope to try some focus stacking and maybe even star trails. It’s a lot cheaper than a new lens or other similar tethering products, thanks for the tip Jayme, I’ll gladly buy you a beer!
This was my first experience connecting the camera, I was able to get a shot off and Lola was able to photobomb me :) I was trying to capture the screen image and the camera in the mirror but didn’t quite get it.
A very long way from anywhere. One of the most wonderfully remote amenities in this part of the world. Situated along the Winton to Boulia road. The bold colours of this landscape, set against the industrial greys of this unlikely infrastructure, appeals to me.
Taken with a Pentax K1000, 50mm lens. Scanned Kodak Gold 100 film.
