“I remember the large-set Roman Catholic woman who came up from the audience after Anne appeared on a Philadelphia TV talk show in 1983, grabbed my mother from behind and choked her and wouldn't let go. My Dad, who fortunately was with her, couldn't budge the assailant until he used his crutches! The attack made the Philly newspapers.”
We lost one of the sweetest kitties tonight. :(
I think she had a seizure. I heard a noise in the bathroom, and by the time I got in there she was convulsing and moaning in the bathtub. I wrapped her in a towel and put her in the cat carrier, and by the time we reached the vet (just down the street) she had stopped breathing. She was still warm, and I was sure I felt her heartbeat - they took her back immediately, and were gone for quite some time... but were unable to save her. :(
She might have gone crazy over lights reflecting off cars passing by, but she would purr like a motorboat as soon as you got close enough to touch her. She may not have been able to leap like her sister, but she loved to snuggle and keep me company at night or when I was sick. She might've come to us with a broken tail, but she left us with broken hearts. </3

Es hat sich zu einem meiner Lieblingsbilder entwickelt...ich weiß nicht mal warum, aber vielleicht weil es so schön unperfekt ist. Streetlife - daran denke ich wirklich gerne zurück!

Do you remember the feeling?
The moment before you touched your first precious lens?
I took some shots to remember the feeling before I took the wrapper off.
My mother gave me this family piece recently. It's a blown glass paperweight with a hand-drawn propagandistic slogan "Remember the Maine" imbedded inside. I remembered the phrase dimly...like "Remember the Alamo" and "Remember the Twin Towers" . Over a hundred years ago it was part of the campaign to get us into the Spanish-American War - when an American warship, The Maine, was mysteriously blown up in Havana harbor. I've added it to my collection of paperweights.
For my parents' 40th anniversary in 1991 I made them this album. It came with pages to send out to friends and relatives. They attached photos and wrote about their memories of the couple, then returned the pages to me. This is part of my page. I wrote on the facing page, "I Remember ...", so the description next to each photo completes that phrase.
This is my daughter and my son, on the right, with one of my parents' many foster children. They only took in infants, but as you can see sometimes the system was very slow in getting those infants into permanent homes.

MindRight founder Myles Mattila honours Grant Sheridan with scholarship
KELOWNA, B.C.-Myles Mattila is honouring former Kelowna Chiefs owner Grant Sheridan, who
followed Mattila’s career since his bantam days in Prince George.
Mattila, founder of MindRight, has established the Remembering Grant Sheridan Scholarship that will be
available to Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) players.
The scholarship will be initiated, administered and supported through MindRight for Athletes Society,
which Mattila has created. The scholarship recognizes the recipient for their hockey commitment,
community involvement and academic achievement. As the season progresses, details to apply for the
scholarship will be announced. The Remembering Grand Sheridan Scholarship will be initiated during the Kelowna Chiefs home opener at Rutland Arena on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
“It is with heavy hearts the Kelowna Chiefs will be playing our home opener in memory of Grant. There
will not be a dry eye in the house,” says Mattila. “ Grant was a very special person who will be dearly
missed by all. Grant and I had very similar fundamental beliefs in the core values of hockey, education,
and community involvement, which included mental health.” They also shared similar entrepreneurial and social support interests in technology – helping those in need get the support they require; not for profit support for the community and investing in the future.”
At a young age, Mattila discovered his passion for mental health. He quickly began to embody the
necessary support attributes and characteristics by taking initiative, risks and generating hope for
advancement on this issue. He has worked tirelessly for mental health advocacy by founding
MindRight.info , and spearheading a summit. This self-developed wellness program is focused on early
intervention and is intended on educating individuals about their own mental health, and the health of
others through resources and connections to community services.
“Grant made me aware that he believed in me and he was proud of my representation of the Kelowna
Chiefs,” says Mattila, a third-year business student, who earned the 2017 Chair of the Board Award for
being Humanitarian of the Year from B.C. Hockey, and achieved the Prince George Secondary School
Citizenship Award of 2017. “I’m very fortunate to have met Grant Sheridan, he was a great owner,
general manager, good friend and mentor.”

What a better way to start off the Dec Scavenger Hunt than with the remembering item.
These photos are of yours truly. I will not say how long ago these were taken, probably by my Father because we all know that taking photos back then was a man’s job.
As you can see I was very happy with my Davy Crockett Alamo fort. My friend Dave came over as soon as I went and told him.
No I didn’t call him. Phones were only for grownups.
I also see that I must have wanted to be a cowboy or a truck driver at that age.
I’m guessing around eight.
My brother in those shots just looks on with jealously.
Ahh the good old days.
It’s nice to remember.
4-5pm, September 9, 2011- around the World Trade Center
at the gates of St. Paul's Chapel across the street from the Trade Center - they were giving out ribbons.
We graduated to the Pan's rocks pool after learning to swim in the Jackson's Pool at the white rocks in Ballycastle. I am eternally grateful to the stranger who pulled me from the waters struggling! Daddy's photographs record how we white skinned would brave the waters!
